The umbrella bar is situated right by Dows lake lending to a beautiful view of the lake and its surrounding park. On a beautiful summer day, the second floor patio is a great place to relax and grab some drinks and bites. The patio seemed to have panelling so that even in unexpected weather you can enjoy their offerings under the sky. Fish tacos - Crispy fried fish with greens, cream sauce in a soft shell. This was delicious, lots of great texture in the mouth and no flavour too over powering. Overall very good, and would recommend. Chicken Burger - We got the Nashville sauce with the chicken burger and boy was it spicy. I would recommend only if you can tolerate some type of spice, I cannot. Fried chicken was crispy until the last bite, it was drench in sauce. I would try a less spicy sauce next time. The mayo on the side is a nice touch as we dont usually see this in other restos! A good restaurant perfect for friends and family. They offer a decent sized menu for everyone in the group to have a great time. Might come back on a warm sunny day!

Since the weather is beautiful this weekend, we went to Umbrella Bar to enjoy their waterfront patio. We arrived at around 2:30 pm, it was packed, so we had to wait around 20 minutes, which wasn't so bad. The waiter was super nice. We ordered their Nashville chicken sandwich, which was really good, but it took around 45 minutes to arrive to our table. Parking is a bit challenging, luckily we found a spot 500 meters away from the restaurant. Overall, it was a delightful experience.

My stars are for the ambiance & drinks only. We requested on multiple occasions to be seated to a vacant table by the waters, and got ignored by one, turned down by another, and then avoided after that. Ended up staying at the table that was right next to the speakers with loud music by my ears. We came here specifically for the views and ended up at a spot with no view at all. We still enjoyed the warm ambiance but it kind of ruined the mood for the evening. I thoroughly enjoyed their drinks, hence I still have stars left in the review! Their food was average, none come with sides so everything is basically ordered separately. It looks like our server was also the bartender so we never saw him again until we asked a couple times for the bill. Their service was definitely was not up there at all. Overall experience... I went here after renting some kayaks in the afternoon for a late lunch and it was pretty good! This restaurant had a more broad menu, ranging from burgers, chicken sandwiches, tacos, fish, etc. than Mexi's right beside so we decided to eat here. Food: I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and got to choose the spice level which was nice. I got the spice level "hot but less hot" and it was perfect, not too spicy but still a little kick. The chicken sandwich was pretty good and was topped with coleslaw and pickles. The chicken was great, big portion, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Unfortunately, the sandwich did not come with fries which would have made it better overall. But instead I ordered a side of fries ($7) to share with two others and it was the perfect amount for three people. I also ordered a mojito and it was good. Ambiance and service: The covered patio is such a cute vibe with lots of plants and a view of Dows Lake. The service was pretty slow and barely checked on, but the staff was friendly. Overall, this is such a cute patio with a nice view of the lake and would definitely go here again if I'm in the Dow's Lake area.

Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich - DELICIOUS

Given that I came here durning the pandemic, I had to order take-out. It was pretty easy and painless. I decided to go for the Umbrella Burger & the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. Sitting outside under a tree nearby, we got to eating and it was delicious. I'll start off with the burger, it was your typical juicy American burger with American cheddar, red onion, lettuce and bacon! I loved that the bun was super buttery. Moving on to the highlight of my day was the Fried Chicken Sandwich. This has to be one of my favourite fried chicken sandwiches. It was a simple fried chicken breast on a buttery bun with coleslaw, sauce and pickles. I loved that the chicken was crispy and juicy but not greasy, and after eating I felt amazing, normally after eating a massive fried meal it hits you but this was delicious. Keep Eating, Angela

Ordered a chicken burger and a double cheeseburger and a poutine to share. The poutine is considered a side but it is quite large and can be eaten as a meal. The chicken burger was quite tasty and you get to chose the level of spiciness which I appreciated. The double cheeseburger was also pretty good. Good selection of drinks but very limited selection of food and the menu online is not the same as the menu in the restaurant. We got our drinks pretty quickly but the food took a long time to come out. They validate up to 2 hours of parking so that's good.

I dropped by today with a friend after a nice hour of stand up paddling in the lake. We were hot and hungry and ordered this peach pineapple daiquiri which was amazing!!! Yep just what we needed full of flavour icy and yum! We grabbed a small bite fish tacos.. they were decent in size not too small.. and full of flavour! Absolutely loved it! Add to all this , they validate 2 hour of ur parking ticket so make sure to ask for that! Finally a decent place at Dow's lake!

Had a lovely time on their patio. Great spot overlooking Dow's Lake, plus they validate parking for two hours! I enjoyed their shrimp roll, yam fries and the whitewater blood orange sour beer. The service was prompt, and all the servers were wearing masks. They also take down your name and number before you get seated for COVID reasons. Overall good experience!

I was SO stoked to finally visit the Moonroom after seven or so years of wanting to go!…read more After a Saturday night at Bluesfest, we waited somewhere else for about half an hour before they told us the kitchen was backed up, so we walked down Preston and I was so glad the Moonroom was still open. We didn't get there until about 12:30am and it was pretty full. We didn't leave until maybe 2:30am and it was still pretty full considering the time. They're not normally open this late, but it seems like a lot of the businesses on Preston decided to stay open later to catch the post-Bluesfest crowd. Good call! We decided to sit inside since there was an empty table, otherwise I would've liked to sit out on their back patio, which looked really pretty with the lights. Inside was a nice vibe though, too. It's small/narrow, dimly lit, with sheets covering the different coloured ceiling lights, and candles on the table. It's very intimate and pretty romantic. We sat close to the bar and there was another party of two beside us. The music was a bit louder so we couldn't really hear the other table's conversations, but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. They were playing the Bee Gees when we walked (danced) in, so we were really about the jams. My husband got a rotating draught IPA by Daft Brewing, can't remember which one it was. I got the Jill Collins, which had Tanqueray Gin, Affino Limone, fresh lemon and mint, cane syrup, and a Moon soda top. It was super refreshing, bright, and not too sweet, which is exactly what I wanted. We shared/I mostly ate the "OG Grilled Cheese" and "Panzanella-esque Salad". The grilled cheese had aged Balderson and cream cheeses in a crunchy baguette smothered in toasted garlic butter, served with Moon ketchup. It was exactly as described, with very crunchy, buttery garlic bread and creamy cheese. The Moon ketchup is made in-house, thinner and chunkier than processed, store-bought ketchup, with stronger flavours. It was okay, but I didn't need to dip much in the ketchup because I really enjoyed the sandwich and it was on the saltier side itself. Because it was a lot creamier than gooey, I'd say it was more of a sandwich than a grilled cheese, but still very tasty. I really am not a huge fan of salad in general, but I can't complain when it was burrata on top. It also had salty bread, arugula, roasted tomatoes, fresh peaches, herbs, and honey. The peaches were more firm than ripe and juicy, which was good for a salad, though I wish they were a bit sweeter. The burrata wasn't creamy inside like I expected, but I love cheese in any form. I really don't know what possessed me to get salad, especially after a bunch of drinks in the wee hours of the night, but my body thanked me later. Salty, bitter, a little sweet, fresh, and not heavy, even with (more) bread and cheese. It was great. They unfortunately ran out of the affogato, which probably would've convinced my husband to stay longer. Too bad. The vegan dark chocolate gelato from Farinella that they put in it sounded amazing. The beer was $10.50, my cocktail was $19, grilled cheese $16, and salad $17, which was pricey. BUT, the fresh herbs are from their garden on the back patio, they make their own soda and ketchup (among other things), everything was delicious, and even late at night the cocktails and dishes were still well put together and tasted great, plus I finally came here after so long. No regrets! Our server was super nice, same with owner and one of the bartenders, who even popped over and sat with us for a bit to chat. And not in a weird/creepy/in-your-face way lol she was cool. She was the one who greeted us when we came in and said bye to us on our way out. There's no flash photography (I forgot to turn my auto flash off for my salad, sorry!). They're open all week from 5pm to 2am, no reservations, no large groups, and no phone (just stop by). I wasn't sure if it would meet the high expectations and hype I had built up in my head after waiting so long to visit, but it totally did. It's such a nice spot, we had an amazing time, and we will definitely be back!

Visuals on its own I would give this 10 out of 10. The seating arrangements are also very comfortable, not too loud/busy when I went which was during lunch time on a weekend. Comparing it to other ramens I've had in Ottawa, I have to admit it's nothing crazy. After eating it don't expect to be blown away because there are better ramen, but at the same time the flavours are still there so it's not bad! The reason I have to give my experience a 3/5 is not only because of the average tasting ramen, but the service was also lacking... don't get me wrong the staff are very friendly, but after placing our order, we nearly waited for 45 minutes-1 hour. I know it's partly our fault for not following up with the waiters sooner, but we're pretty understanding people and we don't like confrontation when it's not needed. But around that 45 minutes mark, I had to say something because your girl was STARVED. Stomach growling and everything. The staff finally checked for us and they said they've JUST placed the order in... however the waiter was super nice and when we went to pay at the end, he apologized and defaulted us to not provide any tips given the long wait- which was much appreciated.
