Big and small paintings with bright vivid rich colors complete their walls. They feature work by multiple Indigenous artists and offer a variety of goods. In addition to the paintings (in canvas and more), prints, and wooden sculptures, they also have fashion items such as shirts, shoes, scarves, hats, and even jewelry pieces. There are plenty of parking (street and parkade) options around the area. Although most street parking has a 2 hour maximum, there is a parkade at the back (enter from Victoria) that allows for longer parking. If you're in the area, it's worthwhile stop for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.

We purchased a glass turtle (because we collect them on our adventures) and brought it home to add to our table of turtles. I can't wait to go back up that way and get another piece of art to add to our home. They had a glass kayak that we both fell in love with, and so many other items. Twenty years (or is it more) old, they are a bunch of woodworkers which means they are very tall on amazing work and skimpy on marketing and sales which explains why Artwood is still unknown to most everyone outside of Bellingham and even many who live here. The work seems expensive? Sure, but the people making it and the gallery are not getting rich. One of a kind furniture/woodwork is time intensive, and this country is not a low wage mecca like southeast Asia. Or even mass produced in North America. On other words the value is there, its not blue sky, the question is are you willing or able to pay for it. Erica and crew at the gallery are not woodworkers, but family of woodworkers, so you get good info and a good feeling and things are clean and well organized and displayed. unlike many stores (full disclosure, I am a lifetime career woodworker) their focus is not just about how much they can sell and how long they can withhold payment. Their focus is on making the operation keep going so the woodworkers can make more great stuff. Don't think the items in the gallery were made in the back room at Artwood, or made by the people working at the gallery. The woodworkers are full time people with families and shops and woodworking tools and machinery, and a life staked on it all. My point is admire the design and craftmanship, its amazing. Don't dismiss it as "so expensive" or being unrealistic. Thats unrealistic.....

I placed an order for the cup I was searching for, then discovered they also had a mug I'd been looking for, so I placed a second order. Luke noticed the two separate orders and emailed me asking If I'd like them mailed together (letting me know that would mean waiting a few extra days as one was not immediately on hand). I said yes, and he kept me informed. The cups arrived today, mailed securely in perfect condition, very reasonably priced. Good communication and customer service, one more great Canadian memory for me, even if this one was only online...

Your eyes are a work of art…read more I stumbled upon the coolest spot where you can turn your eyes into literal ART I think this concept is so cool. This is a perfect gift idea for partners or family members. I took my mom here because we don't have a lot of photos together and I wanted her to have something that is beautiful and meaningful. Iris Gallery has a new location in McArthurGlen Outlet in Vancouver and I brought my mom here to get our eyes photographed together and we did some shopping while they edited the photos. Then we came back to choose the design that we wanted. They have several designs and can take photographs of 5 or 6 different eyes (perfect for families). We then waited a little while longer while they printed and framed our piece and we were thrilled with the results. It was so cool to see the comparison on my mom and my eyes together. Melbah did such a great job helping us out. The whole process took about 40 minutes from start to finish. Now I can confidently say that my eyes are a work of art save this for your Christmas list!
