The food is always tasty. Sadly my order last night was incorrect. I ordered 1/2 slab of ribs and a 1/2 bird fried chicken combo. They gave me two thighs and two drumsticks.... No breast and wing... I had ordered food at 4:15 for 6:00 pick up.. i ordered way in advance as they tend to run out of items due to the deliciousness factor. When i got home and realized the mistake- I called and they really didn't care, said we ran out of white meat no real apology... I get it but they should have said something when i picked up. I have been going there for 20 years and was quite disappointed in the response and communication... ribs were fine as well as mac and cheese. Fries not as good as they used to be. Just a bit sad as I really try to support local businesses, and probably will take a long break before returning. Had food delivered recently from Uncle Andre's (via PostMates), and it was quite tasty! My husband and I shared a fried chicken dinner and a half slab of baby back ribs. Each came with two sides, and thankfully we also added their delicious cornbread. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food we got, which gave us one more meal of leftovers! I wanted to like this place cus the people working here are friendly but leaving anything more than 1 star would be irresponsible. I dont know why it's so hard to find a good bbq restaurant in the area.. The food just flat out sucks and they charge top dollar. The beef was gristly, tough, over salted and had no bbq flavor. The bbq sauce tasted like sweet baby Ray's.. the nasty cheap stuff you buy a gallon for 5$. Anyone who says this is good bbq has not had real bbq. Andres BBQ is a small mom and pop spot hidden gem. It's a very small shop so many people order to go. Service can improve, I wanted to eat there but got my order to go, but when there's only one chef and a cashier it's understandable. SOLID NEIGHBORHOOD BBQ -- GOOD VALUE I live around the corner, so have passed this place multiple times but based on mix reviews was hesitant to try it (and-- we typically go to a BBQ spot we like that is walking distance from my house) However, today our regular spot was closed so we decide to try Uncle Andre's. We went in to order since it was our first time and we wanted to meet the staff and check out the menu. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. My husband ordered the Combo plate w Mac and Cheese and Fries, I ordered the Brisket with Greens and Red Beans and rice. Portions were GENEROUS, particularly for the protein. We could easily have ordered just the combo plate and one extra side -- and it would've been enough for 2 people to share. All the meat was flavorful, as were the sides. Staff was also super friendly. I will definitely be back! In terms of wait time -- yes, we waited 25 minutes to get our order after placing it, but in the future we can easily call ahead and pick it up now that we know the quality here is great and the prices are fair. Second order solidified it...Uncle Andre is now apart of the family. We ordered 2 combos and 2 peach cobblers...AMAZING! Remember the old saying "So good, make you wanna slap yo momma"? I decided to come here after work on a Friday because I remembered that's when they have gumbo. I ordered a large gumbo ($17) and the half chicken dinner ($12). I had to wait almost 30 minutes for the food to be ready. I do like the fact that you don't have to pay until the food is ready. The fried chicken looked burnt, but it's not. Not sure if it's because I did take-out, but the chicken wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. There was still a crunch, but not like what you get at Church's or Popeyes. I also ordered the mac n cheese and red beans & rice. The chicken was quite tasty, but on the salty side. It was moist and not dry at all. It's definitely not the best I've had. I prefer Church's more. The mac n cheese is also salty. Nothing that wowed me. The red beans & rice was ok. The beans are on the sweet side, like baked beans. The gumbo was probably the highlight of the meal. Although it was salty, I still liked it and the side of rice that came with it lightened the saltiness a bit. There was a lot of shrimp and sausage in the soup. I will come back here for the gumbo. But if I want good fried chicken, I will go to Sweet Mo's on Lankershim. Maybe I'll try their ribs next time. By the way, they charge $.50 for credit card usage. Parking can be a bitch as the lot is small and it shares it with at least 6 or 7 other tenants. First time here. Tried the 1/2 fried chicken dinner. 4 pcs of some of the best fried chicken I've ever had and I'm a chicken fanatic! Cooked perfectly! For sides I went with the Mac n cheese and collard greens. Mac n cheese was deliciously on point! The collard greens...man oh man...hands down the BEST I've ever had!! However, we drove up today and there was a B rating on the window and an ATM machine on the inside and they said cash only. Hmmmm... For business purposes only credit cards are my preference. Sadly we ended up dining at the Thai restaurant next door which had an a rating and they were all over us with customer service. I don't know how they do it but the skin has a perfect crust while all the juices have been sealed inside. The last time I went it was cash only but I don't know if they have changed that policy since the whole COVID thing got going. I've been meaning to review this place. Right now this is my favorite place for bbq chicken! My fiancé has been eating here for years and introduced it to me last year. We always pick it up and eat at home. A whole bbq chicken with two small sides is about $26 which I think is a great deal. It has a smokiness in the taste which I haven't experienced at the other bbq places. So good!! The sides are always delicious, yams, cabbage, green beans, mac. Banana pudding delightful. Only downsides are: they do close around 5p on weekends, and tend rrun out of food. My advice, CALL THEM AND VERIFY THEY HAVE WHAT YOU WANT/PLACE A PHONE ORDER BEFORE HEADING OVER. The chicken however, wasn't dry, so that was good.
