We came to Uncle Julios for the first time and tried their queso along with the carnitas tacos. The atmosphere inside was clean and felt very similar to the atmosphere of other chain Mexican places like on the border. Our server was extremely polite and attentive throughout the whole meal. The queso was enjoyable and I thought the carnitas were also a solid choice. Overall, this felt like chain Mexican food done well. Although I have other preferences in this genre, I would come back.

Uncle Julio's is a great Tex mex spot while also offering traditional Mexican cuisine. They have all of your favorites and wide variety menu of items to choose from. Plenty of margaritas to choose from and they also offer a happy hour. Their quesabirria is delicious as an appetizer and fajitas are excellent. Served with plenty of meat and veggies. We sat at the bar and got great service and the interior is new and trendy. A great spot for lunch or dinner.

Location Just off Lemmon, Oak Lawn Parking Large lot, valet option Atmosphere Mexican family restaurant Seating Outside, inside high and low tops, bar-great for groups. Service This visit the reason for 3/5 stars. We ordered the happy hour quesadilla but we were served another quesadilla-not on the menu-which was an up-charge and he was adamantly defensive about it. Menu Generous lunch and happy hour menu. We had the not-happy hour chicken quesadilla with a generous scoop of guac, sour cream, and shredded salad. We also had the happy hour chili queso, which we thought would have chili in it but...margaritas are wonderful as are the chips-light and not heavily salted. Salsa is delish! Summary Great local Mexican restaurant. Be very clear about happy hour menu choices.

This is a great location off of lemon Avenue in Dallas Texas. I ordered a three enchilada meal with beans a tortilla soup. I also ordered a watermelon martini and a Sprite. I booked my reservation with the Resy app and the service was fantastic. 10 stars. She was fast, friendly and constantly made sure I had everything I needed. My whole meal was about $46. I would highly recommend this location and the service here.

Well our server was very good, I ordered crab, shrimp enchiladas, very good rice and charro beans; the beans were very salty, so we had send those back for black beans. I did find the restaurant unusually empty for a Friday during lunch our, but it worked for me

Really Decent Food, But Service Needs Work.. We visited the Uncle Julio's on Lemmon Ave recently and overall had a pretty good meal, but the service definitely left something to be desired. We ordered a variety of fajitas - shrimp, steak, and chicken - and I have to say, everything was delicious. The meats were flavorful, cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We really enjoyed the food and all the fixings that came with it. However, the service was incredibly slow. It felt like we were constantly waiting - for our drinks, for our order to be taken, for the food to arrive, and even for the check. It really put a damper on what could have been a fantastic experience, and drops a 5 star experience to a 3 star experience. The manager was even within eyesight of us and could not have NOT known we were not getting attended to, but stayed at the host stand visiting with the host and another waitperson who apparently did not have enough to do If you're willing to wait, the food is worth it. But if you're in a hurry or expect attentive service, you might be disappointed.

The food was pricey but definitely worth it. They start of with chips and salsa with the drink of ur desire. I visited Uncle julios to celebrate my best friends 17th birthday. We had a great time especially with the piñata. Great experience here.

Went to lunch with my parents before they left town. First time being on a Tuesday so go the taco bar which is an amazing deal. So much food that I have leftovers for a couple meals. Upgraded the ground beef to fajita steak which was a great decision. I usually get the steak fajitas here since the steak and flour tortillas are perfection. Good service and was able to get refills on all the sides for the taco bar.

The happy hour deal on margaritas here is amazing!! I got a couple frozen margaritas and they were delicious and only $4 each!!! The rest of the experience was meh. Salsa is ok. Bartender underperformed. I ordered the fish tacos which had so much batter it felt like biting into a funnel cake. I had a nice display of food going, but really, I'd go elsewhere if I really wanted to enjoy everything.

    Fajitas.

The good news about Uncle Julio's is that the food is tasty and fresh. The bad news is that tasty and fresh food isn't enough to stand out in a crowded Dallas restaurant market with plenty of competition. My dinner experience was pleasant enough and the service was as expected (friendly, competent). It's just that you can find a lot of better choices locally in my humble opinion.

    Fajitas for 2.
    Laura P.

Better than expected! The portion size is a little smaller than other Tex-Mex restaurants in the area, but the quality is on point! The fajitas were tasty and not too greasy. The chips were thin, light, and perfectly salted. I'll definitely be coming back here!

This plate is the small plate they bring you with the queso, not a full size plate.

Since the weather has been so nice lately, outdoor seating is super popular, so I'd recommend making a reservation if you can. I've had a ton of different food items the years, but their fajitas are their signature dish for a reason! It comes out sizzling, fresh, and delicious. Do not pass up on the bone marrow sauce, it transforms the dish to beyond a 10/10! The salsas are always good and then tortilla chips salty and fresh. I start with a skinny margarita w a salt rim, which was good. Our waiter, Abraham, was great! He was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We also order the ceviche to start, which was yummy! The crackers were a bit of an odd pairing for me and I stuck with tortilla chips, but overall delicious!! My friend ordered the steak quesadilla and thought it was tasty too.

We hung out comfortably and had a couple of drinks before heading out. The food is amazing!! Obviously every dish is meat based here and it's cooked to perfection. Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
