Savoury waffle
Cyn D.

Delightful! That sums it up. A lovely patio, beautiful flowers, some sun, some shade. Fresh water in little jars, good coffee and just comfortable. The menu isn't long but it has depth. We had the savoury waffle and the huevos. Both were good portions sizes and delicious flavour combos. Street parking and a flourishing street with lots to look at. The service we had was professional and warm.

I came here to have brunch with a few friends on Saturday around 10:50am. Service was friendly and we were seated fairly quickly. I haven't been back here for a couple of years but I'm happy that the food still tastes delicious. I ordered the $21 Bangers and Mash dish which included free-range organic chicken honey sausages, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, two sunny eggs, beef reduction, and caramelized onion. The beef reduction sauce is the best part of this dish since it's a perfect complement to the other ingredients. You will not be disappointed with this dish. My friends ordered the chicken & waffles, smoked salmon & waffles and the chocolate hazelnut crepe. The two friends who ordered the waffles said their meal was great. However my friend who ordered the crepe said the portion was too small and she was still hungry after. Overall it's a decent place to have brunch in Edmonton but it is a bit pricey compared to other places. They don't take reservations for brunch so you may want to come earlier to get a seat.

I opted for the Savoury Belgian Waffle - 21$ 2 poached eggs, scratch made hollandaise, Belgium waffle, roasted potatoes & 2 chicken honey sausages. . I can't say I was impressed with this meal. It wasn't super hot and the waffle was bland. My cuisinart and a quick trip next door to blush lane would have served me better. . The place is nice and intimate, but I didn't particularly enjoy the food and it felt like we were being shooed out after only 45 minutes of being there. . The quality was fresh, but the portion and flavors weren't there for me. . Presentation is nice though. . Overall don't foresee myself coming back and surprised so many recommend it.

I've gone here 3 times and every single time ot never disappoints. The food is abaolutely amazing and super filling! The servers are very friemdly and kind too! I recommend asking for the soup of the day, we ordered it not knowing what it was and it was a lovely surprise to try a zucchini and dill soup that was absolutely scrumptious! I also recommend tasting their mapple latte as well, the coffee here is absolutely delicous!

Offering sit in dining. This restaurant is located in the same building as the Bloom market. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with wood tones and has a cottage feel to it. I got the split pea soup with a salad. Delicious and simple. Service was prompt and courteous and the menu had a lot of variety. Definitely a good place for brunch and breakfast.

Why have I never eaten here before! This was a buzzing Sunday brunch scene lively with amazing looking food coming out of the kitchen. Our waitress was polite and quick to take our orders. We didn't have to wait too long even though the restaurant was clearly very busy. I ordered the savory Belgian waffle which had two poached eggs Hollandaise sauce bacon and amazing crispy potatoes. I would highly recommend this one if you love savory and also waffles! This is definitely a great brunch spot to go with a small group of people or on a date! Honestly the food was 10 out of 10. I went with a small group of people and we all had an excellent experience. The decor was trendy and they had a variety of brunch items on the menu as well as great lunch choices. My fiance has dietary restrictions which they were also able to accommodate and that's always a win! I can't wait to come back here for another brunch day.

I wanna preface this by saying there wasn't anything inherently wrong with Under the High Wheel but I guess I feel like it got a lot of hype for a average breakfast. Under the High Wheel is located just off of whyte Ave and is attached or off of Blush Lane Organics. It's a cozy little hipster restaurant that has a simple and tasty looking menu. I had Huevos and my partner had a salad. While my huevos was tasty, it came on a buck wheat crepe opposed to a standard tortilla shell, there wasn't really anything spectacular about it. All the components were kind of just separated and on the crepe. The salad looked tasty but again, a fairly generic salad with berries and all the veggies. Our server was lovely and pleasant and the atmosphere was cute but I guess I just wasn't super impressed considering how much I had heard about Under the High Wheel. I would recommend giving it a try and making your own decision. My partner and I just kind agreed that it had that trendy organic hipster vibe and I guess that's just not our thing but maybe it's yours so who knows.

Sweet waffle

First positive things : the food was good! We got the sweet waffle and the avocado toast. If this review was just on food I would give it 5/5! However I am only giving it 3/5 because of the extremelyyyyyyy slow service - took an hour from when we ordered to getting our food. Which is fine, okay sometimes the food takes a long time. BUT when we asked our waitress about our food, she essentially said something to the effect of we will get our food when we get our food. .... okay? THEN when we got our bill we realized that there is a mandatory 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or greater, and we were a party of 5. .... wow Anyways to summarize, good food, but slow, poor service and mandatory gratuity. Would not be returning.

Savoury Belgian Waffle ($21, below) and the Traditional Breakfast ($17, above)
Jamil R.

Post-morning plyometric classes, we fuelled up with a Savoury Belgian Waffle ($21, below) and the Traditional Breakfast ($17, above) at @underthehighwheel . The crispy Waffle was topped with 2 perfectly-poached eggs and juicy chicken sausages (options include smoked salmon, buttered spinach, bacon), with a side of crunchy kale salad and creamy hollandaise sauce. In addition to the side protein and egg item, the Traditional included sourdough toast and roasted potatoes. Since we went before 9am, free organic house coffee ($3.95) served from Da Capo Caffe was included with the Traditional. #foodiepharmacist #yegfood #foodstagram #nofilter

Crocque Monsieur

One of three meals that arrived was inedible. We were not charged for it. Just because they serve all day breakfast, doesn't mean you should order it. My Croq Monsieur was awesome and so was the waffle. Light and crispy. Truly scrumptious. We were warned the service would be slow, but good grief....45 minutes until we saw a crumb. The servers were great. The place is nice and clean. I probably won't be back. There are lots of other places to eat on Whyte Ave.

Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday, otherwise they open for lunch (closed Mondays). Epic Market is huge. This will be a very popular place for the Whyte Avenue crowd as there are so many options available depending on which floor you enter. We were on the second floor today for brunch but the first floor, which has a similar look and feel, has a Mexican menu. It opens for lunch at 11:30am. It's a unique concept for Edmonton. The server said that they've opened similar restaurants in larger cities like Toronto but Edmonton is their first venture into a "smaller market". The brunch menu was interesting with some unique features and some typical offerings. I had the Pork Bennie, for $18.00 in 2024. The prices are quite reasonable for the type and quantity of the food. My bennie was good. My only criticism is that a special house ketchup would have been a nice touch. The service was excellent and we had a nice view of Gateway Blvd out the window. The coffee includes endless refills which is good because the cups were not very large. I'm sure the vibe is much different for dinner than brunch, but based on our experience, I'll definitely return.

My wife and I both ordered the Chandru Special for $17.50. It's a crepe with bacon and eggs inside plus some cheese slices melted on top. There was a side of fresh fruit. The presentation was somewhat lacking as the cheese slices made it look like something you find at your children's birthday party. The dish definitely needed some sauce to help it down. At least the fruit was good. Our server was very skilled at tunnel vision as she didn't see us even when walking right by our table. Eventually we caught her and got a refill for our coffee. She was pleasent enough when she arrived but definitely didn't want to do refills. On a more positive note, my friend ordered an omelet which came with potatoes that looked like thick potato chips. They looked good and he liked them. If I return it will be because I am in the area and can't find a better place. In other words, three stars out of five.

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton
