Have had many fantastic experiences with Hallensteins both with online purchases including their…read moredelivery service and in Whangarei where the staff are always cheerful polite and helpful with equal attention paid to the wearers (my family) and me the purchaser, they are always offering to order something in at my request if needed eg: custom item for a suit or just because a special has sold out instore doesn't mean that I have ever missed out, they have always arranged to have items delivered and waiting for pick-up and the clothing is always quality in excellent new condition. I have twin 16 year olds who have grown up wearing clothing predominantly from Hallensteins they are fussy but have a sort of simplistic style/trend, they love the tailored look as well as the different trench coats, chinos & merino tops on offer. Of course as a mum of twins I absolutely love the two for one deals!!! If their are any part-time jobs going the boys said that this is one of the places they would be happy to apply/work at - which also speaks well of their experiences in store also. A beautiful pair of suede black flats - total necessity. The lady who looked after me was lovely and totally made me feel better about my splurge by admitting that she had bought the same pair in leopard earlier in the day. She also gave me a loyalty card... not that I need any additional motivation to buy shoes. I must admit, most of the brands they stock i've never heard of but the shop assistant tells me that they're largely from Aussie. Anyway, my flat we just over a $100, which I thought very reasonable for leather lined shoes. Tango's also stock a range of bags and scarves.

When i last wondered in here, my nephew (4) was really taken with some of the shoes! He would pick out the fanciest, shiniest, most sparkly high heel and bring it over to me and ask if I'd like to try it on. I was starting to worry about his love of shoes but thought he could obviously just appreciate quality as much as I can. I noticed down the back there are a few shoes on sale. Seriously though, Kathryn used to come into the restaurant I worked at and I served her several times and always found her to be incredibly lovely. Ladies, mens and children's shoes to choose from; I have bought some gorgeous knee high boots from them and have browsed for smaller boots but yet to find some that fits the bill. The place is more expensive than Number One shoes, but cheaper than Hannah's. The quality seems quite good and it is a relief to see some higher quality items on this strip of $2 store craziness in Avondale. Go buy their shoes so we can support them to stay!

Most "surf shops" are really just stockists of…read moreanything Rip Curl or Billabong and the sales assistants don't know the difference between a short board and a SUP! That's why I consider Ultimate Surf Shop so... well, ultimate. If it's anything surfing orientated you're after, Andre or one of the other knowledgeable staff will certainly be able to suss you out. Whether you want to go all out and buy yourself a brand new board or just stop in for a chat about what the surf is doing and grab a new block of wax this is the place to go. They cater to nooby as learners, eager grommets and old grumpy long boarders. The custom J Dub quad fin board I got from the boys at Ultimate has showed me some seriously good times in the surf. A new addition to Ultimate surf is the Ultimate Skate shop upstairs. Absolutely anything skate will be stored up here and Jesse knows his stuff! He recently put together a board for my boyfriend. I was so thankful he could make the process so simple for me because if I was asked to choose a deck and bearings and wheels and all the other crap going on I wouldn't have known where to start! Ultimate also puts on some awesome events to get involved in from skate jams to movie nights! Lots of good times to be had so I'd recommend getting involved!
