This is a very entertaining and well-run tour! We really enjoyed all of it, but it's not for the faint-hearted; e.g., you'll be wearing a wetsuit, which means you'll be getting wet and the water will seem cold at first. But seeing the glowworms and tubing down the river are so much fun it's all worth it. And then you can have lunch there, which is also really superb and a great way to finish the tour read more
My friend and I travelled throughout both the North and South Island for nearly 3 weeks and this was the most amazing part of our trip. Unlike the glow worm cave on the north island this place is much more isolated and less touristy (it's also nice to support a smaller mom and pop operation). The tour guides are all super pleasant and do a great job explaining to you the basic geology of caves. But the highlight is the glow worm inner-tubing portion, where you lay on your back and stare up and the beautiful glow worms as you float through the cave. The adventure ends with you inner-tubing down a mild white water rapid! OK I admit I had a bit of trouble steering the inner-tube, being the clumsy mathematician I am, but I still had a blast. The operation runs very smoothly and they even include photos for free! and they actually print some of them for you! A nice old time touch. read more

We had a really awesome trip with Underworld Rafting and I definitely recommend doing the glowworm cave rafting. Although it was pricey, you get your money's worth with a 4-5 hour adventure. First you get suited up in a wetsuit and helmet and get on a bus, then you board this tiny little train that takes you into the "jungle". From there, you walk on a trail for 10 minutes to the mouth of the cave. Our guide (unfortunately I can't remember his name, but he was fantastic) gave us a very thorough walking tour of the cave itself (1+ hour), with lots of succinct geological info with some stops for pictures. The best part though, was when we took our tubes and hopped in the underground river. It's not a big river (be warned) but wide enough to float down to the cave exit. We turned our headlamps off during the float and the cave was lit up with thousands of glow worms hanging from the ceiling. Definitely an experience like no other! read more

Excellent! The glow worm/cave rafting tour was even better than I expected. Our guide, Mark, was funny, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. The jungle was beautiful, the cave was interesting, the river rafting was fun, and the glow worms glowing like stars over our heads in the dark cave was incredible. If you can afford it, I would recommend this tour to anyone! You get what you pay for and this is a totally unique experience. After a week+ trip to New Zealand, where every day was fantastic, this still rates as one of my top favorite things we did. read more
