A quaint lunch spot with excellent service and superb food. Montrogue has so many cute little streets, and I was lucky to stumble onto this establishment with it's bright blue exterior that draws you in with its magnetic charm.
There is space for no more than 12-15 people at a time so I was fortunate to score a seat with my cousin. The restaurateurs have a limited grasp of English, but I was fortunate to have a native French speaker with me.
We started with two appetizers to share from the daily menu, which was presented to us on a tableside chalk board: the foie gras and a ricotta cheese dish recommended to us by the nice woman who operates the place. Both were delicious. The foie gras was rich, smooth, and decadent...as good foie gras should be. The ricotta cheese appetizer was a delectable and light.
I sampled a very well prepared beef tartare and my cousin got a mushroom risotto, which we both enjoyed very much.
For such a fantastic meal for only €22.50 is unbelievable! This restaurant really is a "matter of taste" (which is what the name of the establishment translates to in English) because if you don't like the food here...you are better off going to the Monoprix up the block and getting yourself a bag of potato chips.
A real gem in Montrogue! read more
