The asparagus came with a great butter and breadcrumbs sauce which drizzled on the potatoes was amazing. As silly as it sounds the boiled potatoes were the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked through but not mushy and they kept their shape. Pretzel was excellent as was the pork schnitzel, pounded thin and perfectly fried. We finished with apple strudel with ice cream, which was just ok, maybe a 3 for me. The waitress was quite surly and we had to chase her down to order after sitting there for 15 minutes without anyone coming to the table. That was the only real downside, though I noticed other tables were getting served quickly, so maybe it's a one-off thing only. Restaurant is quite big with lots of seating, many beer options and nice clean bathrooms downstairs as well.

Walking in the door gives you the feeling of dining in a Bavarian beer hall where there are plenty of locals enjoying the atmosphere. For us tourists, photos are included for most of the menu selections. I tried their signature dish: knuckle with cabbage and a potato dumpling. Even the half portion was huge! The veal schnitzel and steak entrees were also delicious. My server spoke little English, so knowledge of German would be a plus if dining here. The restaurant seems to be known for their beer and has quite a selection, however, a smaller wine menu is also available. I would definitely recommend making a reservation or coming early. As my friends and I were leaving, the line for entry was out the door.

My friend and I decided to check this place out for our first night in Berlin. We went early -…read moreright around opening time, and we were seated immediately. The smell was intoxicating. The owner was super friendly and he made a beer recommendation for our meal. When the food arrived, we were in awe. How can something taste this good? I got the veal goulasch with bread dumpling and my friend got the beef goulasch with potatoes. Like any good meal we have together, once we begin eating, we don't speak again until our plates are completely clean. This time, I'm not even sure if I stopped to take a breath. The music selection could not have been better. I can already tell I will be sad when I leave Berlin. I plan on returning here for another meal before I leave. We even took a few jars to go. They are in the fridge near the entrance. I live in New York City where, for better or worse, it is possible to get almost any cuisine. During my recent tour of Europe with my buddy, we have had the pleasure and privilege of sampling authentic cuisines from some of our favorite places. This experience was among the best in both Europe and NYC. I highly recommend you eat here if you have the chance. You'll be happy! Thank you!

The restaurant is right by a river bank next to some chic clothing stores and other restaurants and cafes. It's gained a second Michelin star this year. The location is Kreuzberg which is the neighborhood where I had purchased a flat in which of course means it's my favorite neighborhood. For dinner, at a modest price of 140 Euro, you get a 8 course meal or 120 which is for 6 course meal. The breads are amazing. My favorite is black pudding bread. My 12 year old loved it until I told him what was in it. The tasting menu changes all the time but the theme seemed to be a seed oil infusion which is super unusual. The hazelnut cream was marvelous and so was the strawberry seed oil. Suffice to say the food is nothing like you'd see in America's Michelin star or the predictable (albeit amazing) French cuisine Michelin found in Japan, America and throughout Europe. Five star for being super unusual. I liked the dining atmosphere. Also for children they can order a la carte so that's good because the kids don't want to sample everything. The dessert is super interesting - also not something you'd find outside of this restaurant. Both savory and sweet. Final touch is the second on the house dessert with thin film edible paper, Inside is a rich creamy red paste like things. It's made of pigs blood. I loved it and ate for everyone else because pigs blood seemed to scare these Americans. I was so impressed with it though. Definitely not something you'd see elsewhere. The best part about this 2 Michelin is that it's casual. You can come in with t-shirts and sandals. Super duper cool. Highly recommended as you'd be in for a one of a kind treat!
