I wish more Catholic priests would follow his example as more Catholics would definitely come back to the faith. I commend Father and his superior staff of volunteers who have welcomed everyone back! A very cool space. It's small and compact as a church. A small footprint but it's street side and so close to inner harbor and federal hill. Pastor Roger Powers is cool. Be careful... This…read morechurch operates out of Aberdeen HS (as one of their parishes). At the public high school, on the weekends, there is also a fair amount of athletics going on. My son and I were there for a baseball game, and we needed to use the restroom (none were visible outside). We began approaching the school, and a gentleman who represented the chuch (perhaps the Pastor), prevented us from using the bathroom (verbally and by standing in front of the door). He said there should be other facilities elsewhere and to go use them. Again, this is a public high school, of which the church is using only a part. Be careful...if this is indicative of their approach, I would be highly suspect of their integrity, authenticity, and relevance to religious teaching.

I'll admit, the frescos portraying Franciscans with Native Americans gave me pause. Draw your own conclusion. I could mean the history of indoctrinating indigenous children or a humorous episode of Parks and Rec. The service was wonderful, but the acoustics weren't the best. The singers were nice, and I did a head snap when I heard the snare drum. I like it. The church is very spacious but only had one bathroom. One. A single. For allll those people. Parking was a bit of a challenge. Stunning church with friendly greeters. So glad I got to experience this parish.

The church does not have AC so in the summer it can get pretty toasty but this church for sure predates modern AC. I would guess late 19th century. Yes, GFC is a somewhat non-traditional congregation where Christian lyrics rather than hymns are sung, sermons are available for sale on tape, and the crowd of attendants genuinely enjoys the service. The pastors speak to topics that are very applicable to young people and tend to be on thought-provoking, moving material.
