With fantastic sermons from David, Joe, Adam and other guest speakers you dive into God's word to further you in your journey to live a righteous life with God. It's approachable no matter where you are in your religious journey. Whether you have been practicing Christianity for years, or your relationship with Christ is just beginning, CCC is a wonderful place to worship. The music is great, and there are plenty of laughs throughout service. Sermons bring a genuine and practical message from God's word. Joining a small group was a pivotal time in my CCC experience where I have had great conversations with my peers about navigating life's challenges, and how living with the Lord as a priority can bring you peace and direction. Moving from the south and being in an interracial marriage with biracial children, it was important for us to connect with people who fostered acceptance and value in community. Churches in America are often segregated and we were looking for a worship setting that embraced my family by including people from various races, cultures, social economics, and age. I think this is a true representation of what Heaven will be like and love that we can begin experiencing that now! Triumph DC promotes a true sense of family, sound Biblical teaching and worship. It's easy to get connected with other people here and avoid the feeling of isolation which the "rat race" of living in the city seems to promote. I have been attending for more than three years, and I really like this place. There is a large, active group of about 40 young adults in their 20s and 30s, and the church has lots of activities for service, worship, and fellowship (aka socializing). On Sunday, the traditional service is at 11:15 am. There also is a 10 am "Sermon Seminar" that I love: there is a Bible reading, then the rector delivers the sermon, and there is a brief period of silence. Next, there is an opportunity to stand and comment, in front of everyone, on the sermon. Often, the comments are as thought-provoking as the sermon itself. PLUS, you can have your coffee with you in the sanctuary during sermon seminar. I love it. Another fun aspect of St. Mark's is the "Pub Lunch," following the 11:15 service. This church has its very own brewmaster! Beer is served with lunch and is delicious. Gotta love the Episcopalians! There are ample opportunities to get involved at St. Mark's, whether you're seeking an inspiring worship experience, a community where you feel at home, or an opportunity to serve others. St. Mark's welcomes all: believers, nonbelievers, and those of different faiths. It truly is an inclusive, vibrant community in the heart of Capitol Hill.

I freely give to this ministry because they are active in building the community. Pastor Jerome Stokes is truly an amazing leader. I appreciate his transparency, openness, discipline, unwavering stance in Christ, discernment. Have you ever went to church and it seems that the preacher is talking directly to you about your current situation? This happens to me all the time. I truly believe that Pastor Stokes meditates and asks God to guide him in what to say. It's always an "on-time message." CRL has service every Sunday at 10am and Wednesday at 730pm. They also have Prayer service every Wednesday at 6pm. The prayer service is probably my favorite service because we sit in the sanctuary in individual meditation and prayer for about 45min. It's great quiet for introspection and communing with our God. We then all come together at the alter to pray together. Very powerful experience. So let me tell you about the atmosphere here. While it is a large church, the congregants are like family. Of course like any other family, you have "that" person but they are overshadowed by the love of the rest of the church. They have an impressive band. There are so many instruments and they are so in sync. I am always in awe of their contribution to the Sunday experience. They have multiple choirs and their sound is nothing sheer of quality. There are a lot of other ministries/departments e.g. dance, theater, sign language, children, security, Christian education, marriage, etc This is an exuberant church. They are excited and extroverted in their praise and worship. They are not quiet but free to express their gratitude in any format they choose. There's no judgement. So you may see people dance, jump, lift their hands, or silently cry in sheer thanksgiving and reflection of God's goodness. If this sounds like your style of church, come visit.
