High off of my chocolate sundae and celebrating my own little career win, I realized it was time…read morefor lunch. Since there wasn't a place for me to go for about an hour.... I decided to pop into the local Grocery Outlet and have a looksie at what was on sale. Each one is locally owned so they tend to have different items. It makes it fun to go in and see what weird or interesting stuff you might find. Sometimes there are insane deals. Like 5 bags of snack cheese for $1! Yes I said it! Snack cheese for on the go yummy 5 bags for $1!!!! This GO is one of the better ones I've been to in terms of cleanliness and being orderly. They also had friendly staff which is a new thing for me. I can't get mad at my local GO's staff for being a bit rough, they have to throw out homeless people and drug addicts every single day. Anyway, the staff here were very nice and greeted me. They even asked if I liked the store and if it was my first time in it. They seemed to actually care! I wish I could have had more of that frozen food aisle but because I am working it was a no go. I did pick up a lot of Bang energy drinks for 99! Yay! At my local GO they were $1.99 so what a win! One of the flavors is "purple kiddles " which is cryptic and nonsensical to me...so I know I'm in for a treat! The beer selection didn't get my motor running but they had a sizable wine assortment. They also had the hard stuff but I didn't take the time for all that. My heart belongs to my Whistle Pig at the moment so... the heart wants what it wants! In all a fun way to spend a little time... that is if you're into deals and hunting around. Also if you're into weird products... just don't wait around... snap up what you want because like most things, it won't be waiting around forever! Personally, I like to leave my phone in the car and just take some me time without everyone calling me to just enjoy the inexpensive experience. My phone is always interrupting me during the day....nice to go have a break. GO a little world in itself and we are living in ridiculously expensive times right now, cheap fun is where it's at...i mean for the grocery store of course sheesh ;) Dirty Yelpers!

I wouldn't normally review Vons, but this is a great market for the area and it's my parents'…read morego-to. I was there three times in one day, for snacks, groceries, and pharmacy. This is a big market with lots of selection, clean and well organized. I'd like to specifically call out the pharmacy. I was picking up meds for my parents, and the people there recognized the name and asked how my parents were doing. I'm not used to this in San Diego, where no one knows your name, but it's nice to find the small town atmosphere even in a big market!

The associate supervising the area, identified as Julia Marmolejo. She insisted that I use Scan & Go. When I calmly explained that I could not because of a specific item, she told me, "If you won't do Scan & Go, you need to go and pay like everyone else. You can't pay like that," and pointed me toward the regular lines.Shortly after, my transaction was stopped on the screen that she removed with a device she had on her hand , preventing me from continuing. It appeared that it had been remotely paused. To avoid further conflict, I used Scan & Go and completed my purchase through the app. When I asked her to verify my items, she refused to help me and told me to find someone else, even though no other associate was available. I remained calm and respectful the entire time. The interaction felt horrible. She is so RUDE AND DISCRIMINATIVE!! I also could not help but question whether assumptions were made about me based on my APPEARANCE or AGE, as I was told to "pay like everyone else" despite paying monthly for Walmart+ benefits.SHE IS A HORRIBLE WORKER.

This Aldi is much better than the one in El Centro. Vegetables and fruits were fresh and plentiful, very nice looking meat and lots of product in the clearance/miscellaneous aisle. The checkers are very friendly and polite. As with anything in Calexico it will be much easier to interact and ask questions if you are speaking Spanish. For English only speakers there is usually someone around who can assist. Very nice store!
