The stylists are friendly, helpful and skilled at what they do. I recently attended a vintage themed night there which was brilliant, they had free champagne & cupcakes (winning combo!) plus vintage clothes stalls and stylists doing vintage hair dos and make-up. Plus their latest addition, a nail bar, where you can get all the latest nail treatments and nail art plus normal manicures and painting. It's a classy establishment, so the prices aren't cheap if you want the top stylist, but you can save money by getting your hair done by their capable graduate stylist. Prices vary from £26.50 for a cut & style with a graduate, £32 with a senior stylist or £39.50 with the Style Director. They also specialise in colouring, perms, hair extensions and wedding packages. I heard a mention of a new massage bed on it's way which sounds good! Keep an eye on the website for updates on new treatments. I booked an appointment easily by just popping in on my way after work and they were able to fit me in at a time of my choosing. I turned up on the day and was offered a drink while I waited (I was early!) so I enjoyed my latte and read some magazines. After my coffee I was led to one of the chairs and I talked through with my hairdresser Helen about what I wanted. After some discussion, we went ahead. I was treated to a nice head massage while getting my hair cleaned and the chair was a massage chair so it was all very relaxing. I was very pleased with the cut and I was asked how I wanted it blow-dried. This time I went for straight hair but I've had it curled and styled here before and its always been good.

I'm happy to report that after my first visit I've found just the place. Harris Gibbs has been around since 2009, and is located in the increasingly cool Jewellery Quarter in the neighborhood around St. Paul's Church. It's an easy address to drive to, or accessed via the snow hill London Midland line or Midland Metro St. Paul's station. The shop is staffed by five professional hairdressers and two support staff. Appointments can be made through an online reservation system or by simply calling. Harris Gibbs uniquely stocks TIGI products (Bed Head etc). If you stop by for a simple cut, you'll experience the goods first with your peppermint hair shampooing. While you wait, staff will be more than happy to provide a cold drink or serve up a cappuccino. What's more, while you are enjoying a shampoo, the chairs give a mechanical massage. My hairdresser Chloe took time on my first visit to understand my hair type, cut history, and preferred style. The attention to detail meant that my cut came out exactly as described. All of this luxury would normally result in sticker shock, but the shop is surprisingly affordable. They are currently running a 3-2-1 promotion for new customers. On your first visit, you get 30% off a cut, with 10% off by the third. On top of that, regulars automatically are enrolled in their points program, where each visit earns additional points that can be redeemed for pounds and pence off service at any time. Dale Hairdressing is a lovely little salon in the Jewellery Quarter - with lots of nice little touches ; love hearts with your coffee for example, a good choice of magazines and really lovely staff. Most importantly (of course) he is really great at cutting hair. I've got really long hair and I'm fussy with the finish of a cut but I've always been really pleased with the result from Dales. Definitely a good find. Having chatted to friends about the salon since I've also found that a fair few of them go to Dale and they've all been pleased with their cuts too. It was quite busy today, being a Saturday, but they had at least 7 barbers on the floor working professionally and to high standard with each customer. An amazing thing about Turkish Golden Scissors is that even when busy they won't rush the individual they are looking after. When it is your turn, and you see there is a queue, the barber never lets you feel that he has to rush; but your his/her priority for however long he/she is with you. I was asked if I wanted a drink, and I had my favourite Turkish tea which is a great drink to have while you wait. Had a pleasant chat with the barber too who asked questions about me and they were genuine. All I'd say is that there is no uniform way of cutting or styling your hair, so you don't know who you will see, how he will treat you and what will you look like at the end. But, I've not had a bad experience yet, and by the looks of everyone, I don't think I will. However, some have done a better job than others. Overall, will keep coming back for the spar-like treatment.

Seeing that they offer a traditional shave and that I'm off camping tomorrow, I go in for this service as I want a close shave so I'm not looking too feral by Monday morning. My face is prepared by the way of a very hot towel; the stylist tells me that this opens up the pores and expands the skin on the face and will allow him to get as close a shave as possible. Then he rubs a light lather into my face. Then the moment of trust is upon me! But, of course I have nothing to fear, and 10 minutes later, I'm out of the door with a face as smooth as a baby's doo-dah. At £10 it may seem steep but it's nice as treat for special occasions.

The Dale salon is already lovely, but filled with beautiful flowers from In Bloom made it even prettier. We were treated to prosecco with fresh fruit, demonstrations on how to incorporate flowers into our hairstyles and mini-consultations on our own hair. Given I am currently hairdresser-less as my usual stylist has moved branches, the latter was really helpful and they may well have a new customer! This particular fusion was with In Bloom Flowers and Dale Hairdressing. When we arrived we were treated to a glass of prosecco and some fresh fruit. We had the opportunity to chat with the Dale Hairdressing staff and ask for haircare tips, and browse through some of In Bloom's arrangements. Dale did a quick demonstration on how to do a pretty updo and incorporate flowers into your hair- he even used me as a second model! We were sent off with cute goody bags filled with Shu Uemura product samples.

Even though I rang at half five on a Friday night to book an appointment, Beena fit me in immediately and I ran straight over. Located within TipTop Photography on the corner of Warstone Lane and Spencer Street, you ascend up a non-descript staircase and into Beena's neutrally designed studio. Beena was incredibly welcoming and the addition of Radio 2 in the background made me feel very relaxed. She asked me what my normal routine was for my eyebrows, and considering I don't normally do anything, this bit of the conversation was rather short! Beena then talked me through what she was going to do and then began to tweeze and thread. I'd not really had threading done before, so it took a bit of getting used to, but I managed it! The whole process took about ten minutes and afterwards I was thoroughly impressed, I have two eyebrows and they are perfectly shaped! I can't thank Vicky enough for this recommendation and considering Beena is located less than 2 minutes from my house, I'll be back!
