Reconstructed in the early 20th century using original stones from the 13th century medieval gate…read morethat once guarded Bonn's city walls. Outside the medieval walls are several notable water features:
1. Drinking fountain clearly labeled for human consumption;
2. Running spigot where the water drained into a trench. This was perfect for providing a continuous source of fresh water to birds and other animals; and
3. Fountain with surround seating which gives people a cool, shaded place to gather.
However, our favorite feature are the three curved park benches which are brilliantly designed. They provide seating for up to 8 people to sit in close proximity, all the easier to have conversations together. They are constructed of metal tubes, making them weather-resistant, hygienic, and easy-to-clean.
