They did have some good deals on milk, this wasn't any specific brand but it did seem cheaper than I've found it anywhere else, by some difference too, it was around 27% cheaper here than many nearby retailers at £0.79 for around 2 litres. The store did have a lot of empty space, it did feel clean but it felt more like a pop-up shop than anything, the doors going into the store felt old, unwelcoming and narrow. The big bulk of items were unbranded, there weren't many things worth shouting about other than the milk offer, the staff seemed disinterested and were just standing around near each other with no acknowledgement of customers. 2* - I'd come in here for milk, or perhaps a look around every now and then, but there are many better similar outlets in the area, if you're looking to go in one or even two shops, I'd give this a miss.

A large flower stand and fresh veg and fruit section again with everything you can need ! The store has an eco feel about it and because of the really nice wooden beams, roof and façade . Which is good for me because I find doing the weekly shop a tiny bit stressful. Just like all the other Lidl stores, there are loads of discounts all over the place and more sweets and chocolate than you could ever possibly want to eat. I always find the packing area at these supermarkets quite stressful. There's not enough space for all your items and you generally, to avoid a making a scene, have to throw the items straight back in the trolley without packing them. It's all quiet annoying really. It's like the staff were desperate to get me through the till quickly despite the fact I was the only customer in the store?! Hmph.

The selection in most areas is fine, and I do like the fact they have Amazon Lockers here which is the one big plus compared to Sainsbury's across the way. The central location makes it easy to access from Bolton town centre, as it is a stone's throw away from the train station and nearby retail park, access as a pedestrian can be a little tricky as it means having to walk the whole length of the road outside, it's a shame they haven't made a cut-through which would be easy to do for any reputable construction company. It was a little hard to find staff members on the shop floor, perhaps this is due to ongoing social distancing guidelines due to COVID-19 as I have begun to notice this more often lately, even at other supermarkets. 3* - OK, worth an upgraded rating.

It is also just across the street from Sainsbury's as well as some other stores. So it is fairly central and hard to miss. The traffic in the car park is a bit of a nightmare... taxis waiting, cars not being able to get by because of the awkward shape of some parts of the car park. That is one of the reasons, I can't give the place five stars. However, there is a car park below the store that doesn't seem quite so busy and is great when it is pouring down outside. It is a paid car park... we missed that the first time, but fortunately it was such a quick trip we didn't have to worry about a ticket. Oops. There is a petrol station, which might also be causing some of the traffic problems. There is a covered area where you can wait for a taxi, but it doesn't seem to be large enough. There is an ATM as well. Another complaint I have, the large spinning doors to the store. One of the reasons for parking below the store... not having to put up with the spinning doors! There always seems to be someone who doesn't know how to use it and the whole thing just stops. Not to mention carts and this contraption are just not a good combination. They have a cafe and while it is cheap, I think I would prefer to pick up a snack at the deli or bakery at the back of the store. The store is always super busy and can make a quick shop a bit of a challenge. I do like their bakery and actually think they have some better looking (and tasting) dessert options than some of the other supermarkets in town. I also like their deli... really I like the part next door where they are baking pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. They always have fresh pasties and sausage rolls... sometimes they are still warm! Their pork and cranberry sausage rolls are my favourite! I think their produce area could use a bit of work as sometimes it looks a bit of a mess. I also tend to skip the frozen section. There are usually queues at the tills, but the staff are friendly. There are usually a number of self-checkout machines that are not working, so I usually skip the self-checkout here. Overall, there are some great parts of the store, but I wouldn't consider this for my normal, weekly shops.

I like Sainsbury's at Bolton, I much prefer this store to the Morrisons which is located across the…read moreway, the store is modern, has a good selection and also includes a Specsavers Opticians (I've never seen an optician inside a Sainsbury's before so that's pretty cool!). There is also a Lloyds Pharmacy inside. The location is good, it is close to a nearby retail park and Bolton town centre including the Railway Station. The store has a good selection in most areas, I particularly enjoyed their selection of 5cl spirits, a good double portion but also a good selection, I like trying out the mini portions before buying a bigger bottle of something especially for new drinks, they also had my favourite Dead Man's Fingers Rum. The staff seemed friendly enough, although there didn't seem to be that many staff on the shop floor, my overall shopping experience was quick/easy. The Free From range could have been better, and sadly they didn't seem to sell the Pots and Co brand of desserts which I like. Sainsbury's SmartShop allowing you to scan as you go is a huge benefit over nearby Morrisons as I love the feature to scan and bag items as you shop, it not only is a simpler and easier process, but it also saves time, scan the QR code at the till pay and away you go. 4* - Pretty good Sainsbury's store

I'd like to give this 3.5, but I'm going to round down for a couple of reasons. On a number of…read moreoccasions, I have popped in to get some items hoping it would be a one-stop shop, but shockingly found that there were some items I couldn't find. For example, I could not find baking beans (you know the things that weight pastry down so you can do a blind bake), but found them across the street at Morrison's. For a regular shop, I do prefer this store for produce and meat. I have not yet found rotting produce or grey meat, so that is a definite bonus. On kitchen items, it is a bit hit and miss as I mentioned before with the baking beans, but I also have scored a beautiful T-Fal skillet on clearance here. I find their bakery not as nice as other stores and there is usually no staff behind the counter. I will say that their shelves are usually better stocked than some of the other stores I shop at, which makes it easier to find things and also reassures me that the item I need won't be out of stock. As someone else mentioned, the cleaning supplies and products are in the far corner of the store and I too have nearly forgotten to pick up laundry detergent, washing up liquid, and more importantly TP (toilet paper)! Even when I have those items on my list, I forget where they are as it isn't a very logical (at least not to me) place for those items. They do have some self-service kiosks, but still have loads of staffed tills. So far, all of the staff I have encountered at the tills are very friendly, although some of them get so into chatting that it slows down the check out. Oops. There is a cafe, as well as an area in the front of the store with a pharmacy and cooler with sandwiches, snacks, and drinks if you need to grab a quick lunch or a snack for a train journey. There is also a till there as well so you don't need to stand in the queues with everyone else. They do sell clothing, electronics, and some small kitchen appliances. They also tend to have a large section of seasonal items dividing the clothing/home items and the food. It is a nice store and usually very clean, but I sometimes find that I need to supplement my shop elsewhere or just go without a couple of ingredients I need.

This is a nice store, while it isn't the largest ASDA store in the area, this store just has a really nice homely and comfortable feel to it, it feels new/modern and a pretty good place to shop, other than the lack of checkouts and cramped checkout area. With it being located close to Burnden Park, which was home to Bolton Wanderers FC for over 100 years, they have tried to add that into the location, as you walk into the store you can see a panoramic of the old stadium which I still prefer to the University of Bolton Stadium, they also had a plaque to the tragic Burnden Park disaster of 1946, with the names of those who died honoured in the store. I was pleased to see some staff members actually on the shop floor to help customers when required; strangely on the day, I visited I didn't find that to be the case at Morrisons and Sainsbury's, who also have large supermarkets nearby. 4* - Pretty good supermarket, easily accessed by a large car park and multiple bus routes, it isn't the best/largest supermarket in Bolton but it has a nice feel to it and I would return to this store.

This Lidl is a new location which opened recently on Manchester Road, in Bolton town centre, with…read moremany supermarkets in Bolton town centre including an ASDA which is across the road, I'm surprised to see them want to open in this location compared to towns which seem more in need of a store, but it is in a good location, it is on multiple bus routes into Bolton Interchange while also having a small car-park. Despite opening only a few days ago, the store still doesn't feel as new as other stores such as the Lidl in Baguley in Wythenshawe, I do feel the store layout could have also been thought out better. I think the bakery should be the first thing you see as you walk in, the smell warms you, even for someone like me who can't eat bread anyway! I also think the toilets are poorly located, despite advertising toilets outside they have a single toilet which is after the check-out, due to the one-way system around the store (This isn't a COVID one-way system), it means you have to go through the checkouts and then out of the store and in again, just to get to the toilet, which makes little sense. This can especially be annoying (whether you want to access the toilet or get in/out of the store without buying anything) as it means having to queue at the checkout, as like most Lidl/Aldi stores I've visited, they always seem to have few checkouts in operation, all of them being very narrow. The selection inside the store was fine, they did have some decent items, while I prefer ASDA across the way, and Sainsbury's on Trinity Street, they did have some good items at better prices than the other supermarkets mentioned, and I do prefer this to the Morrisons location also in Bolton town centre. The staff seemed friendly enough, they were happy to point me in the direction of the bathrooms which are poorly signposted. 3*
