But the lovely architect comes to a halt once you arrive at the Amelia Courthouse post office. This very generic, rectangular brick building really has little charm, which is a shame considering ma y of the other appealing buildings. If you look up at the door entrance, you'll find it rusted and grungy, in dire need of a paint job! This post office is quite drab inside, old and dreary interior with shabby linoleum flooring and unflattering fluorescent lighting. The antique brass post boxes are cool though! But, all in all, this place definitely needs an update and could use some TLC. As far as service, these small country post offices are friendly and accommodating! There are seldom long lines and the have Saturday hours from 10am-12pm. Sending packages, snagging a greeting card, purchasing stamps, getting money orders are pretty easy breezy! But no passport services or self serve kiosks. All in all, a pretty average postal service, although the building and cleanliness substandard. Amelia should deliver more.

I remember this post office when I lived in the area as a kid, and it never looks like this, but it's been neglected over the decades. Inside the floors are so dingy and dirty, I could actually feel the grit under my boots. The rugs were filthy and the trash was overflowing. Empty cardboard boxes were strewn about and just grody. The little "garden box" out front was overgrown with weeds, and this place definitely needs some curb appeal. I noticed several customers just driving by the outside drop off mailbox with their letters, no doubt not wanting to enter this disaster. The hours are posted on the door, but I'd probably suggest going a few miles away to the post office on Sadler or Parham. I was tempted to give a two stars, because the service is decent and the greeting card kiosk was cute, but it was in such bad shape, I just couldn't. Please "deliver" some help to this post office! I will never step foot in Carytown Pack & Ship again. While the junior staff is fine, the manager, Stephanie Clark, is completely unhinged. I went in to pick up my business mail--something I've done for months--and was met with a screaming tantrum. She slammed her equipment on the counter and began yelling at me in front of a store full of people because she wanted me to use an app instead of just showing my ID. To make matters worse, she then refused to give me my mail--a criminal act (theft) and federal offense since it's U.S. mail. If you are a business owner, do not trust this place with your documents. The lack of self-control from management is startling and the "customer service" is non-existent. Avoid if you actually want your mail. Or even if you just expect a modicum of a normal experience.
