Fearing the repercussions of drawing the ire of our neighbors, my band sought a place to practice and found Unitone on Craigslist. With the promise of convenient and easy-to-reserve practice studios, we gave it a shot. We had such a good time practicing in the well-equipped Room 5 that we've been back multiple times. We've made good use of the PA system and in-room kit, and I'm sure we've tested the limits of the room's sound dampening. We've been able to count on Unitone, and Siga has always been helpful, friendly, and accommodating when we've needed some extra time. Siga is an awesome dude. Great communication, very patient, and accomodating. I bought a used amp on a very reasonable price. Amp is in great condition - like new. I have a tight schedule but Siga was accomodating to my schedule. He even offered STAYING LATER than his usual hours just so he can accomodate me. (I ended up coming in within the business time though, so he didn't actually stayed longer for me... but the fact that he offered and was willilng to stay longer was a GREAT gesture by a shop owner). PAY ATTENTION HERE if you'd like to go for instrument lesson, especially if you are green hand, don't be FOOLED! You deserve a much better teacher if you are willing to pay that much. A really good place to learn or record. Been going about two months for bass lessons, and the instructor is both flexible and experienced -- capable of teaching beginners to advanced students, but always letting them go at their own pace. They also have a surprisingly large number of small rehearsal and recording rooms, most with quality gear already set up, so that you can walk right in and start working without even having to lug your own equipment (unless you want to) -- and playing at actual playing volumes, thanks to very decent soundproofing. Unitone is the most professional studio in the South Bay area. Siga is an incredibly helpful and honest person who is giving locals the opportunity to practice/record at full volume for a more than appropriate rate, given the size of these rooms. Studios are loaded with quality drums, mixers, PA systems, and a ton of soundproofing. His guitar tech work is fantastic and would highly recommend coming to him for his assistance with refret, pickup change, setup, and/or any work you need done to your guitar or bass. I recently bought a used Ibanez PM35 archtop guitar from Unitone. The guitar is in great shape, exactly as described. After playing it for a couple of days, I found some small issues with the guitar. Siga was very happy to check the setup, do some fret leveling, put an alternate bridge in place and adjust the bridge and string height to correct the problems that I had found, all included in the original cost of the guitar. Siga is enthusiastic about his work, very friendly, and gets the work done when he says he will get it done. He was a real pleasure to work with and I'm very happy with the guitar. I am a regular customer to Siga's repair shop and rehearsal studio and can't say enough good things about his service! I first met him when my band came to his rehearsal studio. He took a look at my Chapman ML, immediately spot problems and did a great setup and maintenance job prior to my band's gig. I was spoiled by my LA guitar tech before I moved to SF and definitely not an easy customer to please, but Siga's skills and work ethic exceed every aspect of my expectation. I like how he greeted us and showed us the practice room and helped us when we had questions about a tablet we were running through the mixer on some songs we were working on. He is also very personable and it's evident he values his clients and it greatly shows in his attitude and business acumen. I've had two of my guitars repaired at Unitone Music Studios. Siga, the owner and head luthier is very knowledgeable in all aspects of guitar repair and maintenance. I entrusted him with my 1988 Gibson Les Paul (my baby!!!) which had some shielding issues that he promptly took care of. He also noticed one of my tone pots was not behaving correctly and recommended I change that, which I had him do for me also performed flawlessly. The sound of the new tone pot on my Les Paul just rolls off the treble so nicely and smoothly and evenly that I'm going to have the Rhythm pickup tone pot replaced by Siga as well. He also rewired my Telecaster for me. I wanted to have it set up so that the volume knob was closest to the player ( opposite of the normal setup.) Siga noticed that the pickup's had been wired incorrectly. He wired them the correct way and now I don't get that weird out- of-phase sound in the middle position on the pickup selector anymore. Cool! I highly recommend Unitone Music Studios and Siga for guitar repair. His repairs are reasonably priced and on time. Next I'm going to have him rebuild my 1977 Fender Stratocaster. Frets, pickups, electronics, the whole shooting match ...I can't wait! read more

Just tried it out and this place is great. I'm just a drummer whose place is too small to have a kit, so I'm always looking for an hourly rehearsal studio and this is a great solution in the South Bay. 30 bucks for 2 hours isn't super cheap, but for the super clean room and the brand new 5-piece mapex kit, I'll take it every time. I'll definitely be back. This is legitimately the first review I've ever written on yelp, just because this is the type of place I want to see succeed. read more

I needed to restring an acoustic guitar in a hurry today and called Unitone to see if they can accommodate. The person who answered the phone was very helpful and friendly and it would be no problem. I'm glad I remembered this place existed here in this small shopping plaza (having walked by it a few times every time I was in the area to eat at a restaurant a few doors down).
