This facility is amazing! I'm still sort of new (I joined last November) but it has been great…read more They teach you techniques that are actually useful in a street fight situation and they make sure you really understand why you are doing one thing versus something else. The instructors are very friendly and helpful as well as the students of the academy. Even if you aren't looking for self defense, maybe you just want a way to stay active, I highly recommend stopping by.

The kids are learning and having fun. The place is clean, parking is ample. The classes are small but large enough for all the kids to participate with a partner. What makes this program different from others is the kids are learning to protect themselves without hurting the bully unless they have to which keeps them from getting into trouble with the school. Freuently you'll see the bully and the child trying to defend themselves getting into trouble. That should not be the case here as the kids are learning to subdue and apply pressure (pain) as needed without causing unnecessary harm to the bully. The techniques work with any size. You will often see small kids paired up with.larger kids because size does not matter here. If you can subdue the bully and apply a little pressure on those sensitive spots you get get someone to leave you alone. I cannot speak on the adult classes , however I assume the apply the same the same techniques just more in depth. I have seen fake weapons so I believe he teaches them how to disarm someone if need be. It is also a little gentler on the body than other martial arts.

Everyone was so helpful with her, even when she had days she didn't want to be there. Whenever they notice a kid is struggling to be there, they give them lots of positive reinforcement. All the parents are wonderful and clap and cheer for all the kids to celebrate everyone's success. The kids are constantly encouraged to cheer each other on. A few months after my youngest started, I signed my older child up. She struggled with sticking up for herself and being too scared to use her voice. They've helped her find her voice and confidence. I loved what I saw in my kids so much, I joined the adult class myself! I've been going for coming up on a year and cannot say enough good things about what it's done for me. I did not start out in shape at all, I work a desk job. I feel better in all aspects of my life. It's more than just exercise. I love everyone who works here and my fellow students. If even the smallest part of you is interested for you or your child, I HIGHLY recommend it. They let you try classes to see if it's a good fit, but I promise you'll fall in love with it.

I really appreciate the focus on respect, the ability of the instructors to relate to the children as well as the physical strength the students are obtaining. Originally trained here as a kid under Master Kerry Roudebush back in the late 90s for over 4…read moreyears. Came back earlier this year to have my 6yr old and 9yr old get involved. Master Kerry is still teaching the same techniques with the same quality as he was 20+ years ago. His focus not just on technique, but the significance of the traditions of Tang Soo Do - discipline, respect, hard work, attention to detail, and a lifestyle that reflect the attitude of the art - sets him and this school apart. My boys have already grown significantly in the way they speak to adults, elders and teachers and their mindset towards challenges. It was so refreshing I rejoined myself! In a culture that struggles with the concepts of merit, hard work, respect and commitment, what C. S. Kim Karate offers is a true example of what can be gained when all those things are focused on and developed. This isn't like your run of the mill karate school - this is a place of transformation both physically and mentally. Do yourself, your kids and your family a favor, join C.S. Kim Karate, commit to the training, and let the results speak for themselves.

We believe that people of all ages, classes, and creeds can train in and gain benefits from Tang Soo Do. Practitioners gain mental, physical, and spiritual benefits from Tang Soo Do. Our mission is to create happy, healthy, and fit individuals of all ages by infusing modern training methods to an ancient traditional martial art. By learning our curriculum, students increase flexibility, improve hand-to-eye coordination, and gain strength in their upper and lower body. While practicing karate, students become more aware of their surroundings, lengthen their attention span, gain focus on tasks assigned, and have fun at the same time! That is the beauty of martial arts training. We keep it fun, yet challenging, so your child keeps coming back for more. It is our job to motivate, discipline, and provide positive reinforcement to our students. Our curriculum consists of twelve levels prior to black belt. As a student progresses through our program the goals they are to achieve become more and more demanding. This system enables the student to set and achieve a clearly defined goal.
