Fixed my 2006 Dodge Charger Driver Seat which wore out from getting in and out of the car and bumping it. They replaced the cushion in the seat and the fabric on the left side. Horrible, Was quoted $1200 on the phone for my convertible top that worked but it just needed replacing due to some jerk cutting the top with a knife on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. I brought car in to see and this guy starts (Frank) I believe starts telling me "well he needs to see whats wrong with it." I say nothing just need a top replaced. He starts looking for the cylinders saying well these might be leaking and might need to change them I say "No they work just fine I just need the top" He then goes to his price book and I mention he told me $1200 on the phone and he comes back now with the price of $1800 to start for the materials and then to install it. I said "$1800 you said $1200" he says "Well, after we take it apart we need to find the other problems" again I say "There are no other problems the top works perfectly" "I was ready to do it right now." He once again says "Well I need to find out whats wrong with the top", once again "I say nothing is wrong with it other than needing to be replaced, everything else works fine" he said "well it's going to be well over $2000". I said "forget it". I left being I felt this company was dishonest and trying to take advantage of me and was trying to charge me for more stuff than I actually needed. Very unhappy, I took the drive out to him when he quoted me one price on the phone and another price in person. Since I was planning to leave my car from the $1200 price quote on the phone I had my wife follow me in her car. After we left she immediately said "I do not like that guy at all" I said "Why not" she said" as soon as you turned around he started sizing me up every time you were not looking, made me very uncomfortable." WTF seriously this place needs to work on better customer service skills. Stop trying to take advantage of people selling them parts they do not need, especially if they know they do not need them, and stop being immature and sizing up females like you are a 13 year old boy. Recently I found a much better place in Miami that is actually doing the job for $1100 which is $100 less then this companies actual phone quote, and guess what? ALL I NEED IS THE TOP REPLACED, NOTHING ELSE! Final Verdict: If you have an extreme amount of money to spend and do not care being taken advantage of you can try this place. I can not say how well the work is as I would never go back to find out. If you don't know anything about the top needing replaced then go here but expect to actually pay for stuff you do not need...and do not bring any females with you, they seem to be creepy from a female perspective. Folks, Universal Upholstery is the ONLY place to go! First time ever I had a head liner come unglued (Beetle). Frank & David replaced it a couple of days ago. WOW, what a gorgeous job they did; it looks better than the original. Not kidding. Plus, they matched the fabric perfectly, and finished the job in a few hours. The price was very reasonable - $300. (I called Gunther Volkswagen for a quote. They wanted $1,200 to $1,500. Dealers are notorious for overcharging, but this was totally crazy.) If you ever want upholstery, carpet or head liner work on your car, trust me, go to Universal Upholstery on North University Drive in Lauderhill. These guys were amazing! Brought in my RV because the vinyl seats were disintegrating. Apparently Fleetwood uses crappy material. They said they normally don't do that kind of work. They did the seats, arm rests and headrests. They came out beautiful.brought it in on Monday and picked it up Friday. Now I need to convince them to do the dinette!
