This whole review is a lie this place took my one-of-a-kind mopar windshield and replaced it with a low-grade terrible windshield when I asked for them to bring my original windshield back they couldn't. They finally did replace it with a Mopar windshield, but it still isn't the same windshield that went with my vehicle and it's still bothers me to this day, I don't understand why they didn't turn around and bring me my correct windshield. Slow and Expensive I attempt to use local workmen and businesses whenever possible. I like the prompt service, a personal connection and the ability to negotiate cash discounts. So when I needed to replace a window, I contacted a local company via online contact form and follow-up email. I promptly received a text providing a reasonable quote and scheduling an appointment for a technician to come and take measurements ... in 8 days. I had a gaping hole in my window yet I was unable to effectively communicate my sense of urgency. As communications continued I noticed references to Universal Glass, which was not the company I had originally contacted. I did not learn until later that the company I had intended to contact was defunct and its prospective customers were now being serviced by Universal Glass - a company nowhere near me. This added to my sense of discomfort. When the technician finally arrived to take measurements he was unable to give me an immediate quote. Instead, I was required to wait for a call from the main office. The new quote I was given was significantly higher than the one I had previously received. The cost for replacing a 70" X 22" window was more than I had paid for a large double-pane, picture window only a few years before. I understand that inflation has affected prices on most goods and services, but it still seemed inordinately high. However, needing a repair as quickly as possible, and already having invested a week in the process, I capitulated. Seven days after providing a 50% non-refundable deposit I received a call to schedule the installation... in 10 days. I'm aware that the process of glass replacement requires time, but 24 days from start to finish for one small window is glacial by any standards. Ultimately, the installation went smoothly and the installer, Daniel, was a delight. But rather than contact me about how I wanted to pay the balance, Universal simply charged the same credit card used for the deposit without notifying me. What if I had been near my credit limit on that card? These are the kinds of problems that arise when you deal with some distant unknown entity rather than directly with the installer. While everybody I dealt with at Universal Glass was cordial and polite, the inability to receive prompt service, the inability to negotiate a cash price, and receiving an unauthorized charge all reflected an impersonal, corporate vibe that was not a good fit for me. They were fair on their pricing and kept me from having an insurance claim which is super fantastic this day and age they sent out Leon to do the repair and he was fantastic he did an amazing job kept me up-to-date on what he was doing and he also very kind because I was upset that this was my new car that I got two months ago and already got a rock chip and he just reassured me. We bought this house about a month ago. One of the windows would not close and had a one inch gap at the bottom. I had to stuff towels in it and hope no one wanted to break in. Had Universal come quote me to replace a broken patio door/glass on a house we just bought. Very prompt and attentive. They came out and quickly provided a quote. They were very persistent in following up with me--which is fine, I didn't mind, but I was waiting until we got the flooring replaced (they were using jackhammers to remove tile) just to avoid any chance of breaking the repaired window. I had gotten 3 quotes (always get 3 quotes for everything!) and Universal had told me on every phone call that they had a "low price guarantee". So, today I'm ready to move forward with the repair and I sent them the lowest of my 3 quotes so I could give them my business. So, after a brief exchange where they seemed to imply that the competitor quote I sent them didn't include installation (um....it did) I got the following reply. "Unfortunately we are not able to beat that quote. I apologize. Have a great day!" Doesn't really matter to me.
