However, upon signing up for a french lesson I found out that they also offer courses in cooking, dancing, etc. You can take a test on-line to help you determine which level of French to take. If you sign up for a course, and end up not liking it, they won't reimburse the amount, but will put the money towards the purchase of an alternative class. This location is in a older building, and the classrooms are located on several floors which you can get to by climbing a very narrow stair case. Most of the classrooms are smaller and nothing special. It would be hard to rate the school dependent on your experience with the teacher, materials, etc. Overall, my French course was OK. I had no complaints and the administrative office was always very helpful, and there was always someone available to speak English if necessary. From my time spent comparison shopping, it definitely stood out as the most affordable with consistently average-good user feedback for French

I've never been to a team-building retreat before, are they always this fun? Our division spent the…read moreday in a cooking class and art class offered by the Ecole Club, and we had a blast. Our cooking coach was attentive, patient, and thorough amidst the 22 people swarming the kitchen and pulling him from all sides. Each station was given different menus, and he went through each of them quickly so that we could get started while he went around taking the time to explain the more delicate procedures of each recipe. The food came out absolutely wonderful, and we were each given a folder with each of the recipes inside. The art class was a bit confusing at first as the art instructor was vague with the instructions. We were again split into teams, and each team was given an assignment. I vaguely understood that the instructions were intentionally muddy as we were supposed to work in teams without knowing what other teams were doing, but the problem was that half the time it seemed we didn't know what we ourselves were doing. I didn't really understand what we were doing until the very end when we put all the parts together, and we ended up with a huge art project that our director (reluctantly) agreed to hang on her wall ("well, it will certainly be a conversation piece...I'm just not sure what kind of conversation..."). I have a feeling that it wasn't supposed to be a big surprise but that he had actually tried to explain what the end result would be, but no matter, it was fun and we were happy with the final product. What I found absolutely appalling was the ONE lady surrounded by a mountain of dirty dishes and cooking utensils cleaning the horrible mess we had made in front of a small conventional kitchen sink. Where was their cleaning staff?? The art class seemed to be in the same situation, and we did our best to clean most of the mess we had made. But seriously, ONE cleaning staff??

I've been taking French intensive classes and some…read moreprivate lessons for a few months now, and I've been really impressed with all the teachers and the admin staff. Classes are structured, but teachers are flexible - they can do that because the classes are so small. There is an emphasis on speaking, interacting, and building vocabulary. I highly recommend ASC International House.
