Being able to communicate with the stylist is a basic priority for me, obviously. And my French vocabulary does not include words like "layers" or "highlights". I made an appointment easily and resigned myself to the fact that I would possibly have to sport a ponytail for awhile if it went badly.
My hairdresser was Hugo-I was happy to discover he spoke perfect English. After being taken downstairs for a hair wash/condition and sitting in a massage chair, Hugo went to work. He needed very minimal direction from me. I was worried he wouldn't know how to cut my hair as it's thick and wavy/curly but he did a very good job. I was very happy with the end results-he listened to exactly what I wanted and I think this may have been one of the best haircuts I have ever had, including from the USA.
It's a bit pricey but it was worth it to me. They only take cash so be sure to bring euros. I wish they were in California so I could go back!
