In fact, the most sacred room is COMPLETELY PURPLE. The I AM Fellowship is more famous because of its successor, the Church Universal and Triumphant, the apocalyptic group led by Elizabeth Clare Prophet, who passed away last year. An elderly man at the I AM Sanctuary will give a nice, friendly tour, speak of his devotion to Saint Therese of Lisieux and Our Lady of Medjugorje. Surprisingly, this New Agey building dates back to the early 20th century. The I AM sanctuary is the place to be!

Our guide…read more(Terry) provided history of Bishop Lamy's work in Santa Fe, and with help from the Jewish Community at the time. That's why you'll see the Hebrew for God at the entrance to the Basilica. Apparently, the statue of Bishop Lamy was also an espionage meeting point during the Manhattan Project. There there's the La Conquistadora Chapel: the only surviving portion of an older church destroyed in the 1680 Pueblo Revolt. It houses a 30-inch wooden statue of the Virgin Mary brought from Spain in 1624, making it the oldest representation of the Blessed Virgin in the United States. At the entrance is the statue of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American canonized by the Catholic Church. Rather than traditional Mohawk attire, she is depicted in Native Pueblo style. And there's more, and something to discover for yourself as you wander in. Helpful docents were available just into the Church during our visit. There's also a pretty good gift shop just as you come in.

It's one of Santa Fe's older Protestant churches, and goes for an English country church look that's different from the adobe which pervades the city. With its stones&stained glass windows, it's distinctive. A beautiful place with traditional, reverent Anglican worship.

There are always new lectures, classes and activities. The atmosphere is one of calm and unity--such a relief given the chaos of the world these days. My son has had a fantastic Jewish education and the Temple Youth Group is giving him a grounding in values that many teenagers don't get. Come for a visit and see for yourself.

I felt welcome and even comfortable in services, classes, rituals, celebrations, and events, tho I know no Hebrew. Learning and experiencing the joys of Judaism; struggling together through its challenges, replaces presumptions. My voice and questions are always respected - of course agreement is entirely optional! I've witnessed numerous acts of compassion and kindness - that's the heart of TBS. The chapel was…read moreovercrowded with people who weren't being very respectful and there was an automated message over the loudspeaker, which made it feel like this beautiful chapel was now a tourist trap. The staircase was pretty, but it wasn't anything to marvel at for longer than a few seconds. The only "neat" thing about it was that it was modeled after St. Etienne in Paris, which I have been to and loved. NOTE: They do have a great giftshop!

I love the UU church here in Santa Fe! I've been a UU for about 25 years and I just started going…read moreback after the pandemic. I started small, with their zoom poetry class, and the more people I met, the more I fell in love with the church and wanted to do more. Now I am going to in-person events and they are always super cool with everyone doing whatever they want to feel safe. They even provide masks for some events. Such decent, open-minded, quality people here. They have always made me feel super welcome and I just love being a part of all the groups I am in. They've never pressured me about joining, nor have they ever made me feel less than welcome in any way. I just treasure the friends I am making. And the revs (both gals) are fantastic humans.

This church demanded we pay up for the year starting in January. We joined in September/October and…read morethought our pledge was going to the following year, but they INSISTED we pay in full for that year. They were very rude. They did not tell us about the Friend status which is a non-paying member. They immediately denied us access to the Neighborhood Group without even asking if we wanted to remain on a Friends status instead of Member status. This church is about how much money you can give them - then you're on the In. Otherwise, forget it.
