I was led here by Mindy H.'s rave review(s)--and I wasn't disappointed! I had actually stopped by for coffee a few days ago while waiting for a friend, and having seen the display of scrumptious-looking sandwiches, was more determined than ever to try one.
Yesterday was the day, as our crew had to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to a flamenco demonstration (!! but that's a story for another day). We got there around 6:30pm. If there is any menu item in any restaurant that has chorizo, I am going to order it--It was also an extremely cold evening and I wanted something warm, so it took all of 10 seconds for me to choose the chicken and chorizo sandwich.
The sandwich was a good size, and the baguette was very good, if not just a tad bit chewy from sitting most of the day. With the chicken, chorizo, cheese, and sauce, it actually tasted a lot like a baguette pizza (in fact, I think the warm sandwiches are actually called baguette pizzas or pizza baguettes??). What I really appreciated was the peppers, which gave the sandwiches a formidable kick.
As good as the sandwich was, my mind kept wandering to how much better it would be if the sandwiches were fresh--they definitely did have a reheated left-over feel to them at that hour, and I imagine they would be amazing straight out of the oven. read more
