Melo & Sons Upholstery - Cabot House custom sofa disassembled and reassembled

Who knew that furniture disassembly and reassembly was a thing? I certainly didn't until I treated…read moremyself to an extra cozy Boston Interiors sectional and the sofa portion wouldn't fit up my front or back staircase. Whoops! I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

I emailed Melo & Sons and quickly received a response with a quote from Joanne, who was extremely nice and helpful. An appointment was scheduled on 1/16/26 between 10-12. However, they came early, which was greatly appreciated. The two men that showed up were two for the nicest people. Both men had that leather sectional disassembled, brought up the stairs and reassembled in a few hours. After all their hard work, you can't even tell that the sectional was taken apart and put back together. NO scratches, dents, or rips. There work was impeccable. I sincerely want to Thank them for everything, because my couch would still be sitting in my hallway if it wasn't for their help.

I had no idea if this was a huge issue or a small one. I called Mr. Handyman and the staff is so very professional. They explain how they work and how much it costs by the hour. They sent Amir who was very kind and professional. He showed up on time. He worked quite quickly. He found the problem, bought the parts, and fixed my issue. He had to come back to grout as the tiles needed to dry. He showed up on time the second time and also worked quickly. Luckily the issue was just in the baseboard and Amir explained how the damage happened and made sure to seal everything well. They are licensed and insured and all the workers have a minimum of 15 years of experience. I felt very safe hiring them. I am happy with the end result. Thank you, Mr. Handyman and Amir!

However, we would not recommend their service, unless for emergency because of the the lack of transparancy with the fees and charges. We were quoted $800 + materials for a job that actually took 4 hours, and they charged us the higher amount rather than adjust our fee to the actual time, which was much less than quoted by the administrative person based on a picture that we sent. It's clear that they are looking to make a quick dollar and not retain customers!.

Bill was the first contractor to respond and came by to meet with me within just days of my requesting a quote. Bill took measurements, calculated time & costs for my project and then provided me a written quote before he left. I was so impressed by Bill, his fair quote and his guarantee, that I accepted his quote and hired his company on the spot. They started 2 weeks later and I cannot say enough about Bill's crew, led by Anderson. They are punctual, efficient and true professionals. When sanding the cabinets, there was no dust due to the sander having a pump which drew the dust particles into it. throughout the project, they taped off and covered counters and floors to protect them. Premier Painting is the best!! I'm so thankful that I found this amazing company who've transformed my kitchen to be the bright, beautiful and welcoming heart of my home! I'm so impressed by their outstanding workmanship, I'm having Bill quote on additional work I'm looking to have done to my home, including carpentry & building projects. Thank you to Bill and his amazing crew members!

He refuses to review instructions and shuns any observation on how something should be done. I had one storm door that needed to be installed and one other that needed to be fixed because the last installer didn't use a shim on the hinge side to level out the door and it wasn't latching correctly. Door Patrick installed is a hot mess with screw holes all along the door frame because he's solution to the door not being square was trying to place the frame again and again and again instead of using shims on the hinge side to level things out. The door has to be forced open and closed because the metal pieces are rubbing together and when he finally used it a shim it was on the latch side not the hinge side. This was an ez-hang Larson door and it took him 2 days to get it "installed" other door came with clear instructions on what the fix needed to be but again he just wanted to a Screw more holes into the door to " make it fit" luckily after two days working in the install I just called it and saved the other door for someone who knows how to install a door properly to come and fix it. Don't get me started on the pieces of the door he walked away with because he had them shoved in his pocket. I can't even install the latch plate on the back door because he lost the screws. Price was reasonable but the quality of the work was not.
