If you have dogs or kids that like to play outside I would stay away from these apartments. Everywhere you walk there is dog waste. Next to the sidewalk, on the sidewalk, in the parks, near the children's playgrounds, you name it. Every day you walk by and there is more waste than the day before. Management refuses to clean up the mess or hold the guilty parties responsible. The best idea they have is to fine every resident of a whole building if they find dog waste nearby. I'm not sure I want to pay for the laziness of irresponsible pet owners when it is the managements duty to ensure clean and safe grounds. I highly doubt any of these fines would go toward paying a crew to clean up the mess. More likely it would go into the owners pockets. Stay away for your health and your pets' health. You're going to end up bringing feces into your apartment every time you take your dog on a walk. I'm fed up with this and will be moving out as soon as my lease expires. Update: The property managers prefer to give empty promises with no commitment to fixing the issue. They even went as far as insinuating that they would take disciplinary action as a way to silence me. For a place that probably takes in $500k revenue per month, they sure are cheap! read more

I love living here. It's so clean and quiet. One of my favorite things about living here is all of the events the office has! They keep the landscape looking nice, maintenance literally comes in less than 24 hours and the staff are really nice. They even saved me some glasses for the solar eclipse event! :) I read some of the previous reviews from 4+ years ago and a lot of people complained about the staff. Management is absolutely awful. Their communication proves to be unacceptable time and time again. The only positive experience I have had was in the lease signing process (go figure). Even in the signing process, I was denied unit tours multiple times. For the exorbitant price of rent, I expect to be met with, at the least, positive and proactive communication. Examples below: 1) The community received notification that the large pool would have a delayed opening this year due to construction, but management would notify us if the smaller pool and splash pad were open EARLIER than the set opening date. Opening date arrived and many residents were excited to utilize the pool. No notification was received that the pool and splash pad were, in fact, NOT open. I had to call management to ask why the gates were still locked. I was then told that they were still testing the pools and we would be notified when they were open. There was zero communication to let residents know that the small pool and splash pad were unavailable on opening date. 2) Many units are advertised as having 'hardwood floors'. Upon move-in I noticed my 'hardwood floors' were bubbling and raising by my fridge. This immediately caused a level of concern. On further inspection, I noticed that the 'hardwood' is actually just peel-and-stick tiles, not real wood. 3) There is a ridiculous dog waste problem throughout the community. This is not the fault of management, but the way they have handled the issue is outrageous. They have threatened to fine every dog owner if the waste problem is not resolved, which is extremely disappointing for the many dog owners who properly dispose of their pet's waste. 4) The community gym has two entrances - an outdoor entrance, and an entrance through the leasing office. The first time I utilized the gym, I was not aware of the outdoor entrance (it is hidden behind trees) and tried to access the gym from the inside. The office was getting ready to close and the two women working were very noticeably upset that I was trying to access the gym (open 24 hours) through the inside. Instead of politely asking me to use the outdoor entrance, or showing me were it was, they talked down to me, rolled their eyes, and scuffed that I wasn't allowed inside. If you are considering renting here, I would HIGHLY suggest you look elsewhere. The community isn't amazing, the rent is ridiculous, and management is awful. Save your money and live somewhere else. read more

I have had a lot of trouble finding places to put trash, and this could happen even during bad winter nights. I don't know what happened with the painters inside the apartment as well, but in my opinion, I do not think they did a good job. Management is some of the most rude people I've met. The only one with any real sense and respect is Danielle, the woman we signed with. I have had soooo many issues since moving in. My garage door has broken twice, dishwasher has NEVER worked properly and still doesn't a year later. They won't replace it. My bathroom has flooded and I was expected to clean up the mess from the flood with my towels and cleaning supplies. Very unprofessional maintenance, that are also very rude. My boyfriend went to retrieve our key cause he left his in the car at the dealership. And he was met with "well maybe he shouldn't forget his key" like are you kidding!!! Your job isn't to question! It's amazing to me that some of those people still work there. We have changed our lease to month to month and are ACTIVELY looking for somewhere else to live because of the front office alone. I put down a $500 hold fee for an apartment when applied to rent, I did not need up moving into that community, I was suppose to recieve my deposit back within 7-10 business days, two weeks go by and today I decided to call to see what was going on. The last tells me the property assistant manager Tyler Robinson "FORGOT" to process the $500 deposit back to me. So if I would have never called and checked there is no telling when I would have received my deposit back. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. Would not recommend. Very disappointed. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. When we moved in there was paint all over (toilets, carpet, etc.) you can tell the painters do a half ass job. The cabinets are falling apart and when you put in a maintenance request they have NO urgency to fix anything. When you finally do get help, the maintenance people don't put anything on their dirty boots so they track mud and snow all throughout your apartment, they leave their tools and work stuff all over your apartment, and also leave pieces of whatever they're working on all over the floor (sucks even more when you have a baby). They have no care in the world for your personal belongings.. we had a job done recently and they got dust all over our stuff, and got paint on my sons toys. So 7 months in and I still like the apartment, however the situation with the dog poop is so disturbing. Apparently dog owners do NOT pick up around here and the Uptown does nothing to help the situation. I have had dog poop right in front of my porch on the grass for over a month, have repeatedly asked them to pick it up and they do not, nor have I received a reply from an email I sent them and Beztak. I am so disappointed, that I don't even let people come over, because I am afraid they will step in the grass and get dog dodo all over !! It is a real problem and I don't think the company is doing anything about it. It is disgusting, so if you like to walk around the community, be prepared to see dog poop everywhere - as it is everywhere! We had a perfectly great stay at Uptown. We moved from Chicago and needed an apartment to stay in while we house-hunted. Coming from the city I felt the complex was kind of remote, but that meant it was quiet. It's a 10-minute drive from Ford Rd, so not RIGHT near anything, but certainly not in the middle of nowhere. The fledgling businesses nearby are quaint but not entirely useful. The Village theater is great, but productions are sparse. Cold Stone Creamery was nice, and the 502 Grille/bar was ok, though they close early for a bar. The apartment was nice. We never had problems with bugs or neighbors. It was clean and comfortable, though next time I won't choose the third-floor :) The amenities were better than any apartment complex I've ever lived in. Uptown has a great pool, a nice looking gym (that I never used), and they routinely have events at the clubhouse...pizza Fridays happened every couple weeks! There was a St Patty's party and a few other special nights too. And can't forget the fresh-baked choco-chip cookies in the clubhouse...seriously, whenever we went in there, there was a plate of cookies at the ready! There are four other nice things about the location: - adjacent to the complex is a Canton historical house where they stage a Summer Sundays farmers market. So every Sunday you can walk a few hundred feet right and get fresh veggies, meats and goodies. - There is a huge dog park a quick walk behind the clubhouse. Our friends come in from the other side of Canton to let their dogs play there. (Canton residents only...Signup is required) - Next to the dog park is a community garden...again, sign-up required. Grow your own veggies! - Lastly, supposedly during the holidays, the Cherry Hill Village housing complex across the street puts on quite a show with sleigh rides and outdoor carolers and such. I was made aware of this too late to enjoy any of it. I still have not received my security deposits back yet, so I reserve the right to amend this review later :) read more

Very disappointed with the service from the office staff. Multiple (10+) phone calls made to save a dying bird that was trapped in the window in the stairwell of one of the complexes, with little to no care about the situation whatsoever. More than 36 hours went by and the bird unfortunately died- (still have not seen the maintenance man). They had only one maintenance person on staff to help over 600 units. Their "emergency" maintenance only assists with plumbing issues and "leaky faucets" and completely disregarded the situation. They seem to be doing the bare minimum to get their paychecks and it shows. No passion whatsoever and the dog shit in everyone's yards reflect how they truly care for this complex. I'd say live anywhere else, and you're better off. read more

When I moved in it was not checked in as manager said they didn't have anyone to check over the apartments before someone moved in? Floors unsweep, mopped or vacuumed. Shelves molding and spills, exposed WIRING from the wall, washer filled with molding water, paint spills all over the bathroom floors, shower rods missing, shelving broken, windows moldy and bowed, mold in the cupboards and furnace room (still no mold test done), patio door blows open any strong wind, bathroom doors molding and not cleaned, master bathroom cracks and looks like a 4 year old painted it, washer/dryer door off the hinges, ice maker broken, stove dirty and 1 burner broke and inside has broken rubber guard, chipped door cabinets throughout, no alarm code (girl in office told me to google to use and still doesn't work) and probably missing a few things. Management gives two shits about your problems. One visit I went in at 430pm and ask to speak to Gina the manager and she told her employee to tell me she doesn't see anyone cause she is off at 5pm? After I visited her 3 weeks earlier with a list of items 26 things still not fixed or were broken. She told me then she would email me the next day with a plan. So three weeks later i go to see her and get the I am not seeing anyone and here is my bosses email if you want to complain. WHAT IS THAT. I was trying to get a garage and they signed me up with a contract for one but couldn't find the key. Told me they would get one made and drop off in a couple days. Go back 2 weeks later with no key yet and the BIG BOSS was there above the regional visiting so I proceed to tell him my story. No sorry or anything. Just says those are easy fixes as they have contracts with people who can fix some of those items in 2 weeks and don't know why it is been 4 months. He told me I must of got a defective apartment. NO KIDDING but hasn't followed up on it and still 2 months later 1 thing is done. Also charged me for a garage again the next month and go to complain and the guy refunds last month and promises a key in two days. Well another month no key and then a guy drives down with me and peeks in the door and says someone has that garage. Starts to pull away and says he will refund and I get no garage (again no I am sorry). Garage still on the next month and have to call the regional Erin Kosinski says she will make sure it gets refunded and look into getting me a garage. It is now 3 weeks later and no garage. I email Erin the regional and tell her my story around 8-12-2021. She was very nice and tells me she will get these problems addressed. 8-17 someone comes by and leaves a note that they stopped by to fix 3 things but 2 were already fixed. But they looked at the wrong part of the stove and the mold test is still not completed. So waste of time. 8-18 Erin tells me she is working with Gina on the list but on 8-26 I send another email stating I have heard nothing from Gina and no garage. On 9-2 they send me a list of 4 things they are going to take care of but nothing on the other dozen or so items. It is now 9-12 and still nothing done and no garage. This is the worst experience I have had and after talking to several people in the apartment complex at the local pub they have all warned me that management doesn't care and Gina is not responsive or really understands how to deal with guest or repair issues and seems to be overwhelmed in her role and has little structure on getting these things fixed. I recommend you don't spend the extra money to live in this truly amazing community because unless you get a perfect apt don't plan on getting things fixed. read more

After living here for 8 months I can say that this place is definitely not worth the price they ask for rent. The customer service (Evan) is beyond sad and maintenance on the website guarantees 24 hour response but an issue with my garbage disposal took almost 2 weeks. There is dog poop literally everywhere because people don't pick up after themselves. When I moved in there were many issues with the apartment and cheap fixtures that I had to keep documented through photos so that they don't charge me when I leave. 10/10 don't recommend. read more

I am overall pleased with my stay at uptown apartments. I have lived in the big apple style apartment for the past year. Pros: friendly staff, maintenance responds quickly, grounds are kept beautiful and clean, many upgrades and nice amenities including two pools and grills for residents to use at the newest pool. Beautiful, updated and clean gym with all the equipment you need for a great workout. Farmers markets every Sunday during the summer that is literally one skip away from my door. Easy access to everything on Ford rd. Quiet area. Cons: the price, the downtown style parking, the lack of closet/storage space and my annoying neighbor. As you can see i don't have too much to complain about. And my complaints aren't in the control of uptown apartments per say. The only reason i am not renewing is because it's hard to justify paying over 1100 in rent monthly for a 1 bedroom with no utilities included. The price is that high for a reason, you're paying for the area and the amenities. Moving to another Beztak property that is cheaper. I'd recommend this place to anyone! read more

We lived at Uptown Canton for 7 years. We moved because rent was being raised for the 7th time. When I asked to have the apartment to get an upgrade like the new apartments my rent money paid for, they absolutely refused. We had to tape the kitchen cupboards so they would not peel also the both bathrooms had to be taped to stop peeling. The floors in the kitchen are the same linoleum from the early 2000's; also the counters and appliances which were installed in the early 2000's. They actually charged me $20.00 for the drip pans on the stove when we moved out. They can be bought all 4 for 10 dollars at Walmart. They never changed the drip pans in the 7 years when doing general maintenance. Carpet was 7 years old they only cleaned twice and I had to request upon signing lease 3 and 5. I also had to beg for a new refrigerator to replace the early 2000's one that was leaking. Paid for good furnace filters since daughter has asthma and the cheap ones they install were not good for her breathing. I took a vacation day and paid for the heat which had to be turned up and the electricity for space heaters they placed under every sink to keep the frozen pipes we had this past February from breaking. I did not deduct that from my rent. Parking is an issue and has been for years. We paid for two covered parking spaces and had to go the the office more times than I can count because people would park in our spaces. Asked management to paint "RESERVED PARKING" on the cover. Again they refused, but added the $50 per month onto my rent without fail. I could not refuse to pay for spots we could not use. We paid our rent every month on time, did not call them every time a light bulb went out, we did not complain when the loudest upstairs resident moved in, were good residents. I am so disappointed in the new staff they have. It's really sad that Uptown Canton treats good resident so poorly. read more

It has taken me a long time to write this review, I was so mad when we left I could have had a heart attack. First off let me say I enjoyed living there it is beautiful and being right off of ford road is amazing! (we stayed in the model apartment on the first floor) There was a bug problem while we were there, ants were living under our carpet and coming in from every wall. Eventually after telling the office numerous times and them saying they came and sprayed I broke down and bought a perimeter spray and did it myself (like when I lived in my house). The next thing that happened is after living in the complex for A YEAR AND A HALF someone left a huge envelope outside of our door (without knocking) that stated they had been paying our gas and electric for the past 18 months... at the same time we were paying DTE for our gas and electric. They demanded that we pay them something like $2,000 right away. I called and they acted like we were the bad guys. All in this time Erin told us they got a new accountant and that is how they caught it, I of course came back with here are all of my receipts, payments, and charges from DTE! It took everything in me to not scream at Erin. The third thing that happened is my husband got a job on the other side of the country and had to be there within 4 days. So we packed all of his stuff up and drove him down there then our roommate and I decided to break our lease 5 months early. We paid what we needed to pay and moved out. I had mentioned when breaking the lease that my husband got a job across country I did not mention I had to stay back and finish school for the next 6 months. After I was moved out (decided not to clean the apartment because there was too much going on. I knew they would charge me for it that was ok!) 2 months later they sent a bill for $600 saying we had all of these charges. Some of them I completely understand and paid but one of them was ridiculous. There was a $300 charge to replace the refrigerator door because we "ruined" it. I called a bit upset asking what they meant by it being ruined. They said we had scratched the inside of the door and it needed to be replaced. We went back and forth for about a week then finally i decided i wanted to look at it take pictures and take them to small claims court. When I went in Erin was rude (we had been being rude to each other back an forth all week so I understood that) but she is the face of a business... When I went in to take pictures of the door I touched where it looked "scratched" and the mark came right off. It was pop can dust from the bottom of the cans... they were trying to charge me 300 dollars for that BS. I pulled out my magic eraser and wiped the whole freaking kitchen clean. I took pics of the fridge door walked in, showed her, said Im not paying you guys for being incompetent. she apologized and I walked out. Just because they assumed we were moving far away and would probably just pay they tried to rip us off after we paid so much freaking money a month to be there. The apartments are nice but the $90 annual rent increases are outrageous even for Canton. Sometimes the trash dumpster is overflowing with trash like it is today. If you are unlucky enough to live in the older style apartments, the laminate covering on the cabinets peels right off and no need to place a work order because they never come back to fix the cabinets. The walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbors sneeze and the flushing of their toilet. My neighbor has two small dogs that run around in circles at 2am every morning. I used to love my apartment but if you get loud neighbors with pets your home will never be peaceful. There seems to be no size or breed restrictions on the pets. There are large dogs everywhere and my neighbor has two rather large dogs that aren't friendly. I check out my peep hole before I open the door to go outside to make sure the coast is clear. The maintenance team is helpful but when my dryer stopped working it took almost a month for a new one to be delivered. The office staff is friendly but the bad outweighs the good. I'm mad at myself for staying this long definitely not worth almost $2000 a month in rent. read more

Lied multiple times in regards to my furnace repair which went on for 7 months then summer came and the air didn't wk that also went months without repair and the lie that the company was waiting on a part !! Come to find out not one staff person ever contacted a furnace repair!! I went into office met w BRIDGETT who admitted she lied and had no excuse!! JEFF who I think is a manager lied to people sit in the office and let phone ring like no one is there and you go up to see 3 people in office at their desk !!! When it came time to move they refused to do a walk thur or give me a time nor answer the phone !!!! Knowing I was moving out of town! My son and I cleaned that unit w a fine tooth comb everything!!when I got my closing payoff from them it and 6,000$ done intentionally because they are full aware that that is the amount that prevents you from renting another apartment if you need to !! They lied and said I intentionally moved and left the water running to damage unit !!! I have witnesses that helped me clean and move to prove this is not the truth and also the 6,000$ amount was intentionally place on my account due to truthfully giving the review to the corporate office and naming both Bridgett and Jeff in complaint this is criminal and crosses the line !!! My experience at Uptown Apartments was not pleasant. Although they advertise being luxury living, don't be fooled. The apartments are constructed quickly and therefore poorly. In the year I was there, I experienced several maintenance issues including poor insulation (could hear everything my neighbors did), losing heat, as well as other issues that relate to construction quality. Most of these issues took over 3 weeks to resolve. From the management team, communication is not their strong point. Phone calls and emails are rarely returned. I would get be them zero stars if I could. I regret so much not having read the reviews earlier. I moved to Michigan from Chicago and signed a lease to live here, thinking that since a company was managing the place it was a warranty for good maintenance and customer service. I couldn't be more wrong! The company is awful! Worst customer service, they don't maintain the units and they are very expensive for what they offer. Stay away from them!m read more
