On September 14th Jake Streich spoke with someone about a tree company hiring , $200.00 a day for…read moreexperienced workers.
After speaking with a mutual acquaintance/roommate to arrange transportation from Daytona to DeLand, that person was also hired on.
On Monday September 16th , both gentlemen reported to the owner /operators meet up place in DeLand at 4:30 am as requested . Completed morning duties , headed off to the jobsite.
Completed the day without incident , and finished the job and drove ROAD back to the meet up location and arrived around 8:00/8:30. Totaling a 15 hour day.
Tuesday September 17th , they arrived 6:30 am went about the morning duties and headed back to the job in Ocala from DeLand.
Around 4:00 pm the mutual acquaintance was using some heavy machinery and was being guided by the foreman on duty , he told acquaintance and i quote " Pull and just keep pulling " so he did as he was told and in the end , backed into a work truck ( picture of damage provided). At that point the foreman reached out to the owner/operator of the company , sent photos of the damage , and proceeded about the day having , Jake , and the acquaintance proceed finishing the job and made it known there was two options for acquaintance A) he would pay for damages out of his weekly checks , B) Fired and let go.
Nothing was mentioned to either men about what was happening from the foreman as they proceeded throughout the day.
After they finished the job 7:40 pm both men got into the foreman's truck to make the hour and a half trip back to DeLand. At that point the foreman looked at the acquittance " You got to get the F*** out the truck " " bossman said get out"
At that point Jake had a lose lose situation, without the acquaintance/roomie/ride he didn't have the job , and could also be looking at losing his place of residence , in either situation he would not be able to make it home if he chose to ride to DeLand as he lived in the Daytona area.
At that point both men was left at 7:45pm in ocala ON THE JOB SIGHT, totaling at 12 hour day , in ocala being told figure it out.
After reaching out to the owner to figure out pay and other information , Jake was informed that Acquaintance would not be getting paid ANYTHING and he would only be getting $100.00 ( he was paid in advance to Friday $100.00 as agreed Apon before working ) totaling $200.00 for final pay for 27 hours of tree labor.
It is now Sunday 9/22/2024 and the owner is refusing to pay either of the men the amount due.
By all means we can understand the acquittance not getting paid , that is a issue they need to dispute . Our issue is the $300.00 of remain pay that is owed to Jake Streich as he did not cause damage and simply decided to stay behind with his ride
( HE WAS NOT FIRED FOR ANYREASON he decided to stay so his friend was not left a hour and a half away with 0 ride or way to find one)
The entire reason these men started at this job was because they was promised $200.00 a day. The Bossman is now claiming he was only willing to pay $100.00.
Monday - 15 hours divided by $200.00 totals $13 a hour
vs
15 hours divided by $100.00 totals $ 6.66 a hour
Tuesday - 12 hours divided by $200.00 totals $16.00 a hour
vs
12 hours divided by $100.00 totaling $7.69 a hour
These men worked for 27 hours Each busting back in the Florida weather and heat for $100.00 that was spent on the twin toddlers jake helps provide for.
Jake Streich is owed at least $300.00 he was promised as pay
the acquaintance is owed $400.00 minus damages.
They have heard 0 response from the company , foreman , owner/operator sense that Tuesday when they was told they was receive $0.00 in total for the both of them.
I am making this post so other people do not fall for this company's antics!
We understand a accident happened due to another employee and that accident should be handled between the two parties in a appropriate manner , But refusing a separate employee pay for a intendent that they was not involved in , for a job completed is uncalled for, unprofessional and illegal in the state of Florida.
I do not want another family to spend the time , gas , and effort into working for a company who is willing to screw over employees no matter the situation.
The steps are being taken to inform the proper authorities , and at this point legal action is looking to be taken from the parties involved
Police also had to be involved the night of the 17th due to the owner/operator verbally abusing and threatening the gentlmen after the foreman had already left them at the ocala work location.
