I don't know why I bother even going into this chain. The clothes are extremely enticing but far too expensive for my budget. You see, Urban Outfitters only stocks cool designer stuff. If money is an issue, Primark is five minutes away on Argyle Street. The bottom level of this store is dedicated to fashionable books, ornaments and cards.

Not a cheap shop. It is full of funky goodness that you wont get anywhere else though including crazy gadgets and stuff to make your kitchen a bit sexier. It's ideal for birthday presents or making small additions to your place to make nights in more bearable. My most recent purchase was a packed lunch box that looks like a cheeseburger. I took great pleasure buying a burger and putting it inside it then showing people I had a burger in my burger. Some people liked the idea, others did not. You just cant win with some people thesedays.

This UO store is completely different from it's Edinburgh counterpart. That store has lots of concrete and brick decorations and has a nasty, cold and dark feeling, especially when you get towards the back. But this store however is warm and bright with chic wooden panelling and bikes attached to the ceiling on the top floor. The ground floor pays host to all the crap that you want but really don't need. This includes strange books, a shopping bag shaped like a crocodile, Unicorn Poops (a very cheap looking foreign candy which is just marshmallows with glitter sparkles) and some quirky decorations for your room. The first and second floors are the clothing areas. The first floor (the biggest floor) has been given entirely to the women and us men get the second floor, which is bigger than the ground floor but is about half the size of the first floor. I always look at some of the clothing but nothing ever appeals to me. There was a plain white t shirt with the words "I Am Rich" printed on it. They were charging £57 just for that! So expensive! While I wouldn't normally shop here, you can use it to buy novelty birthday gifts for your friends and family. For clothing however you wouldn't catch me in here. I would be either in H&M, Primark or New Look.

If I could spend all my student loan in one shop, Urban Outfitters would get my vote. I love the tops, and the skirts, and the dresses, and the shoes, and the bags, and the necklaces, and the... everything! ugh! Everytime I go in, there's always something screaming "BUY ME!" from the shelves, whether it's a new purse or the latest dress. Unfortunately though, prices are high, so high in fact, with my student loan by itself, I'd probably only be able to buy a dress and some shoes. If I was lucky. They also have hilarious gifts, stationery, and homewares (old style telephones, comedy mugs, condiment gun, inflatable wigs...you know, usual sort of things found in modern, stylish homes...). Not to mention the 'adult humour' section. Ha! But, the question that is begging to be answered is: is it really worth going hungry for a week because, I need a housephone shaped like a cheesburger? Computer says yes.

As contrived as it is, Urban Outfitters is ever so cool and must be run by some of the hippest and smartest business-folks out there. It is absolutely manufactured for those of my generation, specialising in retro gadgets, books and toys on a whole floor full of lovely and wacky things to fill your home with, if your purse permits. Young hipsters are drawn in and mesmerised by the pretty things all around and the most banging music blasting from the speakers above, that is conveniently displayed for listeners to buy. Although it is often incredibly pricey, Urban Outfitters is one of the coolest shops in town, with a great range of designer apparel and cute and quirky pieces. However, one thing I've noticed is that a lot of their stuff is very of vintage style and you could probably pick up a similar and genuine vintage piece at a fraction of the price from any number of charity or vintage shops.

I popped in for a super quick look - I was contemplating getting a coffee but then thought better of it seeing it was already late afternoon. I did notice that Papercup don't just do coffee though, there's also a small selection of cakes on offer. Forty is the clothing side of things and while it's not my kind of thing (edgy streetwear), they did have some nice stuff and tshirts. There's also Safehands Barbers so you can get a whole new look with a cut and some clothes. In this area, I can't think of any other independent coffee shops so I'd definitely pop back for a coffee next time I'm in Royal Exchange Square.

Definitely be back to do some shopping, and of course, get some good coffee!!

I was killing time the other afternoon while waiting for an appointment, and I walked past the store front. Like a choir of angels singing from above, I saw the coat I knew I wanted to get a certain someone for Christmas. Best known for their high-end luxury, ultra sexy sleek, all-weather outerwear, mainly geared towards the motorsports and aviation, Belstaff is just downright timeless. Forget fast fashion, if you want investment pieces, you'll get it here. After walking past the store admiring the coat probably 5 times, I decided to go inside and interrogate the poor lone sales guy, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. I found out the following: * The name of aforementioned super sexy man coat for super special partner in mind, and the price tag * If the store doesn't have the style/colour/size you want, they will order it in for you to try with no obligation to purchase * They have their pieces altered by Sew Easy (quadruple validation - see my review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sew-easy-glasgow#hrid:rbAXylZcHMloLLDdcfeoXg) * He recommended other styles that I/partner would possibly like * He also recommended a size based off of the Hugo Boss suit sizing I knew my partner wears * If they don't have the product in the UK (Manchester or London), then they will expedite shipment from NY or Italy After the Spanish Inquisition was over, I was really chuffed with knowing the variety of options I had, and the lengths the store would go to make the customer happy. If only more stores had customer service like this and were less aloof... But I guess it comes with a price tag, eh?

Jack Wills is a crisp new addition to the higher end designer shops on Buchanan Street. Situated over two floors in a lovely building, its wicker chairs and blanched out boardwalk scenes speak of summer... Only right now, it's not summer. And if you're used to staying in Glasgow, you could argue that summer is a season that skips our fair city. A toss up between surfer dude and posh southern England totty, you will like this shop if you like clothes that are fashioned to look retro but are also unmistakably designer. It's a bit more laid back than Made in Chelsea, and mixing the styles of preppy and indie up a bit. A beautiful shop with a nice layout, but a bit too high end for the likes of myself (who takes pride in having holey Converse and buying 2 pound tatty jumpers from charity shops). From old bat wing jumpers to spangly velvet prom dresses, it's enough to beat the 80s out your system by snaffling up these goodies. The store is split evenly into guys and doll's clothes, although choice for the senorita's seems to top the bill as they have an extensive range of long dresses, dating as far back as the 50s. But most of their clothing seems to be from the 70s and beyond as there are a lot of old tennis tops to be had for men, and brown prarie dresses for women. Items look evenly and fairly priced, so you're looking to spend roughly £20 on a dress, £15 on a skirt, £10 on a jumper and the tops are super cheap. For guys, they have decent priced Wrangler denim shirts (which as I'm writing this are very in), sports jackets galore (so you can look like an 80s footballer) and loads of jeans in really good condition. The rails are crammed with choice. The girls who work in here are lovely - very chipper, helpful and you can hear them singing along to their CD's! I got a plaid shirt out of here today so I was chatting away to one of the girls. She sounds like she's Spanish, I'm not sure, but she says they source their stock from as far away as Germany and Holland. It explains the variety of clothing, as you can always find something different in here. And it's cheap, so I will be taking advantage of their nautical selections since they are so affordable!

The centre is certainly decorated to match the crowd it's looking to attract - glitzy, glam and always clean and tidy. I like the size of the centre as well - it's very dinky but still has lots of shops and is easy to navigate. There's also a host of restaurants, bars and cafés but I'll be honest - I've not visited many of them. I ate at Barca probably 4 years ago and also one of the places on the bottom floor but I think that's changed hands. One down side is that if you are dining at a restaurant on the lower level, parents will tend to let their kids run riot in the centre circle which can be a bit of a mood-killer.
