Lovely staff all very friendly and helpful. A nutritionist is on staff and the trainers are good. They are a bit different in that the offer crossfit for an additional fee. I know its very popular but a bit too hard for me. I'll stick to spin. They also offer an outdoor running club in the winter which I will try this year. The reason my score is a 3 not a 4 is the lack of classes and ac which in the summer is brutal so close to the lake (humid). Overall I like it the people are nice and it doesn't have a intimidating feel that some gyms do.

I signed up to the 1 month special for $49 aud just to see what the ruckus was about and to try out a few types of classes and studios I had heard about (the ones that don't always offer free trial or are quite expensive for 1 off goes). The sign up step is easy and the team were helpful introducing the membership at the recent Yelp Rooftop event. So how does it work? You log in online (no app yet) and you can book up to 4 classes in the upcoming week. You can filter classes by type, time, location or intensity. So far I've tried 4 classes in 3 days and the classes are ones that are not offered at my local gym - Barre, Reformer pilates, Core + Hot pilates and I am trying another studio tonight. Sounds great right?! Well yes and no - there are conditions you see... -You can only go to 1 studio 3 x per month (including franchises) -If you don't show or you forget to cancel a class you have booked in you get punished (fair enough, it is taking other people's spots) -Some areas do not have a lot of classes but they seem to be expanding their offering all the time -You can cancel anytime by emailing them a few days before your next billing The website is fairly easy to use, I do wish they had an app to book and also a search function using a map would be handy too. Perhaps each member can also have a few strikes before being charged for a no show or late cancellation as emergencies do happen. The current monthly rate is $99 after your first month which is a bit high for me but I am enjoying the freedom of being able to go try new classes especially as I work in different areas during the week. It will be a tough decision though to jump to a dearer membership for my wallet but my mind and body are pretty happy having a wider selection of classes to fit around work!

My boyfriend and my housemate also could not resist, and now we have set up a little routine of going to yoga all together a few times a week - it's a great bonding experience! I love this studio for so many reasons. They have an app which makes checking the schedule a breeze, and you can check in for the class online. All of the teachers are amazing and really friendly. The classes are fun, hot, and I always leave feeling 100% better than I did before. The teachers all have fun in their classes which I really enjoy, and a few of them make a point of remembering my name, which I really appreciate! I've grown to love this studio, it now feels like my second home. I'm so happy to have found it and will definitely continue on after the intro period. I wasnt sure about the heat at first but now I love it ;) it adds another level for my concentration that Ive learned helps me relax. The heat helps me move, stretch and bend so it really opens up my body-it feels so goood! I wish i could do Bikram Yoga everyday like some people do... The poses are not too complex like youre used to seeing elsewhere- not feet behind the head, no handstands, no 'acrobatic' stuff! Just a great simpl sequence that I see different ppl of shapes and sizes and abilties can all do together. And non of this advanced levels and 10 week courses to try and commit to... The Beginners Intro passes are great as you may need a little time to get used to the sequence, the heat and the different lengthed classes. When I'm here I need a gym…read moreand Fitness First is, as far as i can see, one of the few places that will give you a punch card. Other places you just have to pay membership or a full guest fee. I bought a 10-pass, which is about $8 cheaper, per visit, than paying a guest fee. The gym itself is nice. It leans more towards classes and weight training than cardio, so if it's just a ton of cardio machines you're after, this might not be the place. That said, you can at least usually always find a free cardio machine, if that's what you want. They have a great range of classes. They always have a 6am class but then the next classes are usually around 9. Is it just me that thinks it's weird that there aren't many 7 or 8am classes. Like most there there's just an empty time slot. Odd. The staff are very friendly, especially at the front desk.

Wanted to take a break from…read morestudying and attended their Les Mill Body Attack, and then the Les Mills Body Balance class on a Wednesday night between 6:15pm-8:15pm. All good, got to experience the new releases for both classes last week, as at the time of writing this. Really helpful staff. Internet access and a cafeteria greet you, with a great swimming pool facility. No time to swim, just get ready for the classes. There are an abundance of locker facilities, and ample space to hang up your clothes prior to taking a shower unlike the other Fitness First gyms. Then why only three stars? Firstly, the classes were way too crowded, especially Body Balance. The Body Combat class in the main group exercise room were delayed, and hence my Body Attack class was delayed making me late for Body Balance in the mind-body studio which is a minutes walk. Never mind. With a platinum club you pay platinum prices, even if you do not use all of the facilities. Casual visits are $28 a pop, even though I did achieve my fitness goals on this occasion. However, if you come with a friend or family member who is a member of this gym, or of all Fitness First clubs, you get in for $22. Tried to download the free pass you can use on your first visit to come here, and I received server errors. I like Fitness First, yet I will give the George St Platinum club a try. Great, yet the platinum clubs are still overrated having tried this one and their one at Bondi Junction a while ago.
