This place is so good! I've tried the UC Banh Mi Chicken and the SoCal sandwiches as well as The Ahi and Cafe salads and the lemon cookie! Everything I've had has been amazing and full of flavor. I hope they do well so that another location opens up closer to me or that they link up with a delivery service so I don't have to commute, but I love the food here so I don't necessarily mind! The employees are super friendly, my favorite is Jack the cashier, he is such a character! He's very attentive every time I come in, he's hilarious! 3 Star is what I think of the overall experience. My first time here, Waited in line for 10mins, which is ok. We understood that it was lunch time. There are so many workers working, neither of them assigned to clean tables?...So my husband & I ate on a dirtying table. Not sure if it's just today or it's just their recipe... but the side salad that every sandwich comes with is SUUUUPEEEER SOUR! I got the bahn mi... now I know this is not a Vietnamese cafe to rate the sandwich good or bad, but the sauce in this sandwich is a major NO, that whole sandwich was dripping SOUR sauce. If you're gona have bahn mi on the menu, make the recipe similar to a legit viet sandwich. My husband had the Santa Maria bbq and he said it was alright. His side salad was super sour as well. It's been exactly an hour since I ate here and I still have heart burn from all the SOUR sauce they got going on their food. I personally would NOT eat here again. read more

The Santa Maria BBQ salad is soooooooo gooood! I love it. Fresh goat cheese, blackberry bbq drizzle, and chipotle ranch make it very unique and delicious. And MUST get the chocolate chip cookie. It is always warm and has a tiny bit of sea salt on top that enhances the flavors even more. Great customer service. Management is wonderful. So good! Its very hard to find healthy convenient food in Bako. Whenever i am in the northeast i stop by here for a Mediterranean Bowl and it hits the stop for something that is delicious, fresh and healthy. Came here last week with my husband and baby & have already ordered from there again! I had the California sandwich (vegetarian option) and I'm not even vegetarian and it was DELICIOUS! My son doesn't usually eat bread but loved their grilled cheese. I think my husband got a turkey sandwich of sorts and he's not a huge healthy eater, but he finished his entire plate including the balsamic vinaigrette salad it came with. Oh and if you're not worried about splurging on dessert, I highly recommend their chocolate chip cookies! So good! Not a place to relax in quiet. Been on several occasions and the music is always loud. Seating can be limited during peak times and with temperatures being so high who wants to sit outside. The first two times food was great last two trips the sandwich falls apart due to be really soggy. I would assume rushing to keep up with orders is causing this problem. I have eaten at urbane cafe on multiple occasions. I've ordered multiple meals. One of my favorites for salads is the cafe salad. Comes with spring greens, advocado, pears, pecans, goat cheese, and I ordered ranch dressing. It was great. As far as sandwiches go my favorite so far is the portobello mushroom. It's under the vegetarian menu. I have also added tritip to it as well. It was amazing and it comes with a side salad. The side salad had the spring greens, mandarin oranges, feta cheese and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Amazing food, great atmosphere, great customer service. I will definitely be going in again. This probably the worst place I've been to. If I could give no stars I would. They took forever with my order. When I asked to speak to management I spoke to a girl named Stacy she was just as rude as some of her employees. Who ever is above her needs to seriously train her again. The other day I paid a visit in the evening and the place was a mess. Tables were all dirty and and food on the floor. I wasn't greeted by the employees because they were too busy having a conversation. So I went home with the salad I ordered and I started to feel really sick after I ate it. I absolutely love the food here. I've visited on numerous occasions. The So Cal, Cilantro Torta, Southwest, Santa Maria all soo good. The quality and presentation has always been of the highest quality. The smells of the bread and the cookies baking make a great atmosphere and smell while dining in. I went to the restraunt today and was extremely dissatisfied. I go here all the time, and the last few times I've notice a little girl sitting alone. This girl was here again so I sat by near to make sure she was okay I got my so cal and started to eat. Food was great as always, but then the little girl started to roam and the manger on duty came by her and yelled at her to sit down or she will get a spanking. I asked her if that was her daughter and instead of answering she walked back to where the other employees were. Which I thought was rude. My husband and I were passing through Bakersfield yesterday and this was right off the freeway. Hungry and tired we decided to stop here to eat as It was our first time. Unfortunately we ended up at what looked like a not too upscale side of town we were drawn to this place due to how nice it was and felt safe.
