Would give 0 stars if that were an option. We visited on the Friday after Thanksgiving. A "holiday…read moreweekend" but not a holiday or a weekend. (At least not legally, financially or professionally.) My wife had the following symptoms - persistent cough, sore throat, mild headache. She had 2 negative COVID tests in the 3 days prior to our visit. And no fever or respiratory issues. The waiting room was nearly empty with one other group waiting. We waited in the lobby for about 30 minutes before going back to an examine room. We spent about an hour in the examine room - about 15 minutes waiting, 15 minutes with the doctor and 30 minutes waiting for the prescription after he left the room. His diagnosis was a sinus infection for which he prescribed antibiotics and rest. The clinic classified this as a "moderate severity" visit. For our 90 minute visit for a sinus infection, the bill came to $9,520.00 (That's not a typo. $9,520 for a 15 minute visit with a doctor on a normal weekday during normal working hours.) Had we not been out of town, we could have visited our regular doctor, but as we were in Livingston for a few days, we didn't have that option. We have insurance, which then discounted the bill to $949.85 which was passed to us as deductible. I can't imagine what someone would do without insurance. Even with good insurance, I am stuck with an almost $1,000 bill for a minor illness. And to top it off, when I called the customer service number to try to negotiate something (i.e. lower price, payments, etc.) the representative I spoke to was extremely rude and hung up on me mid-sentence when I said I did not intend to pay in full at that moment. Unless you are literally (and I don't mean that the way Tik Tok-ers and You Tubers mean it) in fear of your life, do not use Exceptional Emergency Center - Livingston (or any of the Altus Community Healthcare facilities). You will get mediocre care at best, but your bank account will never survive.

I had fallen down my decks stairs and it made a fairly deep gash in my shin. After a couple of days i went to urgent care where they put ointment and bandages on it and called in anti biotics. After a week and not much healing going on I went back to them and they told me I really needed wound care at the emergency room. So after checking in at Chi St Luke's E.Room I was seen fairly quickly. It was Christmas eve. The first nurse took vitals. The second started an IV. Then i met the doctor and his nurse I leave their names out because I'm sure there's not much difference in staff. So there was a brief conversation, they ran a test to make sure there was no infection. Then after the results came back the doctor came in and told me there was no infection and he would call in some more antibiotics and left. Also keep wrapping and putting triple antibiotic cream or similar on it. Then his nurse came in and told me I was free to go. I responded aren't you going to redress the wound or anything? To which she said no the old dressing is fine. I told her the elastic bandage I had my leg wrapped in was a one time use type thing. Now this was a gauze pad that was a day old with with an elastic bandage that everyone had handled so after my asking if the hospital didn't have any elastic bandages she was able to find an 8 inch piece that we were able to hold the old bandage on with. Ok you're free to go. So just before I made it to my vehicle I realized I still had the IV needle still in my arm so back in to have a nurse remove it. I asked to use elastic bandages and not tape because I'm old (68 yrs old) and taking it off sometimes pulls skin with it. She went ahead and put the stickiest tape they had on which yes pulled skin off after a couple minutes. I'm writing this not for vengeance but to remind future patients to bring their own wound care such as gauze pads, elastic bandages for wounds and if sticky tape is rough on your skin, (I'm a two time cancer patient, radiation and oncology really messes you up) bring your own. The hospital emergency room seems to have run out. Also maybe establish some sort of checklist you can read to the nurses so no unwanted IV needles or similar are left in your body before you leave the E.R.... I'm pretty sure they'll appreciate the help. The pics are 9 days after accident. One last thing, I realize this is not a life threatening injury but there are certain safety procedures and protocols that should be followed to prevent infection or the spread thereof which of all places an ER with its staff should follow.

Ms. Yeates was very thorough--blood tests, chest x-rays, etc. All came by good, but then she took his blood pressure lying down, sitting up, and standing up. It dropped significantly at each change. No one else had ever done this. Now at least we have something specific to check out. In addition, they didn't take my husband's insurance so we had to pay out of pocket. Everything was just under $200. It would have cost us thousands at the ER. I've used this facility before, and I have always been pleased.

Dr Joshua H listened to my explanation and assured me he'd help. He prescribed a new antibiotic, called it in and after picking it up I headed home. Within 3 hrs of taking it my nausea was GONE! Everyday that I took it the swelling and pain went down. By the time I made it to the dentist for treatment I only had a bit of swelling and pain. The Dr knows his stuff! Price was very affordable with my insurance and the support staff were helpful and pleasant despite it being at the end of their working day. Highly recommend them!

So basically, they gave him papers stating upper respiratory infection, so was this not an emergency? Based on the conversation with Helen she stated no. So, in other words, if he had the $650, he was sick but since he did not, he was not sick enough for them, so he was then told to take over the counter medicine. I have never seen anyone in my life be denied medical care unless there were combative and the police had to be called. So, I called as a parent because my son could've passed out or anything could've happened leaving that medical facility with no treatment. I don't care if you are a private hospital or not. They didn't check to see if he was dehydrated, no iv, no blood work all because he did not have $650. He is a young black man & went to seek medical attention just because he was alone or didn't have insurance he still should've been treated. I then called Elite hospital I stayed on the phone for 30 minutes trying while the receptionist explained to the nurse my reason for calling. I needed to know why he was denied treatment? I was trying to understand their reasoning but got me with disregard, disrespect, excuses and kindness, with Helen the tone was definitely hostile, she appeared to seem surprised as to why I'm calling very not nurse like. No compassion, empathy, sympathy or anything was given. Upper respiratory infections are contagious and can be caused by bacteria. Helen was very condescending, so the phone call went all the way left. I then asked for the director of nurses and was placed on hold, then told I could not get that information by Helen. I then explained I had been given that information before on cards or provided with a phone number at least. I had to call another nurse that works in another hospital to find out Brenda Hess is the Chief Nursing Officer, I then asked Helen to provide me with a person who was in charge over her and she stated no one was there she is in charge. The phone call got heated and she hung up I then called back. I called back & was then passed around of course because now Helen has informed her coworkers of what I said and what is going on. Liz gets on the phone with no sympathy or empathy stating I'm aware of what's going on and proceeds to tell me what I already been told about the medical screening. I stated I'm aware Liz clearly needs training in people skills. Liz stated you are not getting Mrs. Hess phone number I will give you her email & then proceeds to tell me to stop yelling & continues to hang up because she is mad, I have exchanged words with her coworker. I find this very offensive, rude & shows the lack of. I ask for specific information & was met with no accountability. In all of this my son was denied care because he was black & did not have $650. If it had been anyone else, I'm sure they would've received treatment private facility or not. I ended up taking him to another medical facility for medical attention. Nurses are here to show compassion, empathy, patience, & humility and my son did not get any of that. The way this world is going it pays to be kind, humble and caring. The doctor is very personable and not an antibiotic pusher. We had a negative strep test, but there was obvious irritation and her tonsils were slightly swollen so the doctor did issue a prescription on hold so we could get it if allergy meds and rest didn't start to help. I was very impressed with the care and service and would highly recommend them.
