Used to be a good place to go until the unfortunate loss of Dr. Terry Sr. The nurse practitioners are not knowledgeable. One tried to tell me my sons known kidney problem was musculoskeletal. So she basically told me that my sons kidney pain was because of a pulled muscle and had nothing to do with his UPJ obstruction that he has already had surgery on. Now we are seeing a physician out of New Orleans that has confirmed his diagnosis and is taking measures to surgically fix the problem. Also trying to get a nurse to call you back is impossible. So don't try. read more

Known for its culture and tradition, the gulf port city of Mobile, Alabama, is also home to Urology & Oncology Specialists PC. This innovative group of specialists merged two practices in 2009 in order to better serve their community. The group combines the skills of expertly trained urologists and radiation therapy oncologists into one group dedicated to providing patients with the best medical care available in these specialties. These physicians have long been leaders in Mobile's medical community. One of the original members, Dr. Cooner, ensured that Mobile was one of the first cities in Alabama to obtain sound wave treatment for kidney stones. He also led the effort to provide routine screening for early detection and treatment of prostate cancer. The physicians on the radiation therapy oncology side of the practice directed radiation cancer treatment at the USA Medical Center from 1985 until 2005. Continuing their spirit of innovation when it enhances the health and well-being of their patients, the Urology & Oncology Specialists PC is the only outpatient facility in Mobile that has female urologists on their medical staff.

She is dishonest, cold, and completely unfit to work with terminally ill patients. I came to her during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, battling stage 4 cancer. Instead of compassion, I was met with lies, avoidance, and outright negligence. She deliberately gave me false information and dismissed my care needs multiple times -- not just once. She's not only untrustworthy, she's dangerous. Palliative care is supposed to be about improving quality of life. Charlotte Byrd made mine worse. She lied to get out of doing her job, left me without support, and treated me as a burden, not a human being. Her behavior is not only unethical -- it borders on medical malpractice. No one in this condition should have to endure her attitude, her deception, or her refusal to fulfill basic responsibilities. I do not feel safe around her and I fear for any other patient under her care. I have reported her to hospital administration and am filing a formal complaint with the Alabama Board of Nursing. I strongly urge Mitchell Cancer Institute to remove her from their staff immediately. No patient--especially someone in palliative care--should be treated like this. She should be fired. Immediately.
