For an…read moreentire year I had a protection order on my stepdaughter's mom because she tried to run me over with her vehicle. No police ever came to help us write a report and that was just the beginning. The police missed so many of her times. She broke her protection order against me that the sergeant had to call and apologize to me. She has a firearm license that was supposed to be turned in every single month for a year and all they did was continue the case for an entire year and then she never had to give up her license. Absolutely nothing and I mean nothing happened to this girl. She runs out constantly saying she's going to kill me calling me every sort of name in the book I've had to hide from her. She stepped up to my face and tried to hurt me multiples of times and then laughed while she was trying to run me over with her vehicle. The courts did nothing except for send me emails that she was in non-compliance. Before the termination of the protection order continuously emailed and called the courts for help on how to renew the order and was ignored and forwarded and sent to everybody else but getting help. So now, the protection order has expired, she still has her firearm license because nobody ever took any action on her. Her. Honestly they let her get away with whatever she wanted the entire year.. since they did nothing the entire year she felt she could do whatever she wanted, and that's exactly what she did. I had police on the phone. Tell me There were no grounds for her breaking her order what? She had come up to me and tried to hurt me in my face and it's supposed to be a thousand ft away from me at all times. She even tried to run me over with my 3-year-old stepdaughter in the car. Now I have to fear for my life on a daily basis because the courts never took her license or took any action. I have never been so disappointed and scared in my life but disappointed because this should never have happened and now this is my reality, scared for my life.

I was called to serve years ago in Boston and we had to wait in uncomfortable chairs in the basement. Additionally, we weren't allowed any electronics. In contrast, the Municipal Court of Seattle's facilities are new and have high ceilings and huge windows for natural light. There's also a quiet room with lounge chairs and desks with outlets for those wanting to do some work while waiting. They even have cell phone charging stations. There's also an outdoor terrace to get some fresh air. The staff takes you through the process clearly and acknowledges that you'll be waiting around for long periods of time but the facilities and attention to details make it a lot less painful.

Basically, you just walk in and (after going through some metal detectors) you're in... to the right is paperwork and to the left is courtrooms. The confusing thing might be that there's no check in process. Just walk over to some electronic boards and look for your name and it will tell you the time to report to court (which should match your paperwork) and which court room. In my case, the courtroom doors were locked for about 15-20 minutes and I wasn't sure if I had missed out on my time or if they were calling names individually to enter or what (there were a lot of people loitering outside the room wondering the same thing). In the end, the courtroom doors opened and they let all moving violations people in at once. Overall, it was fast and easy and I was in and out in about 45 mins to an hour total.

I had read the reviews ahead of time and took it to heart. I arrived early, found a spot in the garage, brought reading materials, and was good to go. Yes, there's full security here and in my experience this mirrors other government buildings. The officers were serious but cracked a few jokes. The lines moved swiftly. Up to the second floor I went abandoning the elevator as it seemed painfully slow. There are two different types of chairs - soft cushion chairs or plastic chairs. I opted for the soft chairs. The day I went was apparently a light court day as only 100 people were in the room leaving many seats empty. Unlike most people I was selected as part of a panel within 90 minutes. We went to the fourth floor to the courtroom there. The courtroom was much like I expected a courtroom to look. I seriously suspect there's one architect in the whole country who designs courtrooms because they all do look the same. I found the judge to be exceedingly patient. I found the bailiff to be very professional. The lawyers were lawyers. We spent time listening to various questions that helped determine the jury pool. We broke for lunch for 90 minutes. I walked over to Kent Station to take up time. It is a very short walk. Upon returning one of the jurors was MIA so we had to wait until she showed up and then the court decided to take a break so it was another 30 minutes before questions resumed. It was a very interesting process. I don't regret not being selected but I enjoyed seeing how the process worked.

They pay you $10/day for attending and payments are processed every two weeks. Also, whoever drives to the court house gets mileage reimbursement, whoopidy whoo! So I came in 15 minutes prior to 8am. Half of the room is filled with people. Now, it's 8:30am and orientation has not even started, yet! This blows! And they tell you not to be late for jury doody?! Oh for crying out loud! People are still checking in and I have not seen the judge, yet!

We scheduled an appointment in advance and had no hassle in our appointment/with our paperwork. We brought all our required items, and back-up required items, and getting our applications in was surprisingly easy. One of those experiences we found we lucked out on as there was not a line and we managed to get things right on our end. Workers were friendly and clear in their interactions. Parking was abundant.

To me, the foundation of our criminal justice departments, starts with jurisdictional court of laws like the district court Evergreen division. Personally, I promoted myself available as an attorney, specifically, Legal counsel, to the evergreen division and they hired me. Unfortunately, still haven't had access to equal pay for equal work or any protection afforded to U.S. citizens under our labor laws which is sexism at the highest level of absolute gender discrimination of a black male. Had I been of white ethnicity and female of England ancestry, the evergreen division clearly would have made sure I got hired traditionally and received my salary routinely or annually with full access and freedom to spend my employment earning however I like, on whoever I like, where ever I like, while wearing whatever I like, whenever I like because it's my money, I made, you didn't. Once I got there, even though it was very close to their noon lunch hour closure, the young lady at the front desk called the auditor office to check on a few things for me and saved me $130!! I wasn't sure if there was a time limit on the free name change after getting married and she called around to check it out for me. I can't express how thankful I am for that, she could have easily just taken my money. With the holidays coming up, 130 dollars can buy more presents. Thank you so much for making my first trip to your courthouse a friendly and pleasant one! I appreciate having kind people in our community.

First, I was given wrong information from (name I forgot, sorry!) regarding release of information. She told me to look it up online. Okay, lazybones, I know it is not available online and I have to contact the courthouse. Sorry to interrupt your game of computer solitaire! Again she tried to deny me (I'm honestly beginning to wonder if she got paid off, I find her behavior so odd...why this delay? Is she seriously that lazy) So I called the courthouse on my cell phone when I was standing right in front of her, and the lady behind her answered. This is the only way to get things done; you have to both *be there* and call them at the same time. The same information I was able to get from the Everett Division in about 60 seconds, and I would imagine that is a much busier court. and that is the sad thing. at least their employees are competent. However, most of the cases were filed in this court, so I have to deal with them regarding release of information. It would've been helpful to learn that the person I was filing against was a convicted criminal, but they denied me that information. Thanks, but no thanks S Division.
