My all time favorite hole-the-wall post office in Imperial Beach. Service was fast and efficient today. Typically there are 1-3 staff members at counter ready to take care of customers mailing needs. Staff are also friendly. When walking into this location, you will expect to hear music in the back ground, either a short or long line that goes out the door. The clerk (Marybell) lied to me & overcharged me. She insisted paperwork in a bubble mailer had to be sent as a package. This is not true as verified through the customer service line. I paid 5 x more than I should have because this woman had no scruples. Horrible way to make money by cheating your customers. USPS should be ashamed. read more

I'm a local and I do business at this location for all my postal needs. I called to ask some questions regarding one of my packages and I'll just say I'm quite disappointed. I'm not sure if the lady I was speaking to was just having a bad day or if she's just always rude to the people she interacts with. I highly recommend teaching your employees the way they speak to people is tremendously more impactful than they think. Spread kindness please. read more

To talk to a real person, call the main post office. When the robot starts speaking, press '0' a bunch of times until the robot talks again. Do that a couple times and you will be put on hold or asked if you want a callback. The Imperial Beach post office does not need a phone since they do not answer it. Change your options since you do not offer the services mentioned. With the number of people walking around the back of the IB PO, they are not understaffed. When people are lining up outside the door for service, grab people in back to man the counter! Having 2 out of 5 or 6 windows open is bad service. If you do not think this is bad service, you do not need to work with people. My carrier does not respond to notes left when the key he left does not work to pick up a large package. The notes I left are gone but he has not responded. Disband the USPS and turn it over to human beings. read more

I paid for a year of PO Box services and now it's been 4 months of seeing an empty PO Box. I've asked at the desk they say everything is active for all parties at this PO Box yet we still receive no mail. Now I find that 2 very important deliveries were dropped off at the Post Office and signed per UPS tracking and Both are lost!! This past last year until now we have been getting the shitty service! Our mail gets placed in the wrong mailbox. Also it should not take 2 to 3 weeks for mail to get deliver from imperial beach,ca to El Cajon,ca to pay a bill! We need new mail carriers also. My packages have been stuck in mailbox twice! Poor service, do not follow stated federal rules and laws. Go to the Sedona Main PO for decent service, these guys just do not have it.

I come to this post office location fairly often to drop off my bills since it is close by to where I live. There are certain times I come here and parking can be a hit or miss. It has a parking of about 10 spaces but if those spaces are full, you can park on the street. I haven't had any issues with the clerks that work the front. I purchase stamps by the book. Two forever book of stamps will cost around $19.45. Not too bad. One time I had to pick up a package and had no issues getting it. All I had to provide the lady was my name and address. So far this post office has been good to me. I am a loyal customer of this location because it's close by. The door to the front is always open for access to the PO Boxes & drop box for outgoing mail. Most places don't have open door 24 hours. read more

I need to say this. The service at this location, 946 Donax Ave, has been amazing. I was at Imperial Beach in June and July and at this location Marybel was so great, professional, and even caught one of my errors. The mail I was sending was very important and had to get to Roseville within 2 days. Had she not caught the error, the mail would not have been delivered to the correct party, and it would have been a serious issue for me. The mail arrived on time both times. Today I had an important issue on mail going from Roseville to Imperial Beach again very important mail. I worked with Henry the Post Master, to say he went over and above is not enough. He was very professional, polite and did an awesome job in helping me very quickly. Also, thanks to the carrier for the delivery. I appreciate all the great help I was given at this location. WARNING. Don't put mail into the outside mailbox at this post office! I dropped 5 pieces of mail, all bills, into the mailbox on the street, outside this post office last Saturday. Today, my Mom calls to tell me that someone took one of her checks meant for a utility, removed the utility's name and account number, put their name and "monthly payment" on her check and cashed it. Her bank has given it to their fraud department. If they agree that this is a fraudulent check, they will put the money back into her account. Meanwhile, her account was closed and a new one opened. She has to to toss her checks and notify Social Security and other payors that automatically deposit money into her account. Lots of hassle. read more

if I could give 0 stars, I would. carrier delivered a package in my mailbox, and then came to my door to hand me another. package that was in the mailbox was damaged and covered in either gasoline or oil. subsequently ruining my product. first problem with me, was the carrier not having the self respect to hand me the damaged package, but instead leaving it in the mailbox and handing me the one that's alright. secondly, my package was delivered COVERED in a HAZARDOUS MATERIAL. not only was the envelope covered, but there had been some collect in the bag the USPS decided to put it in. the tshirt in the envelope now smells of gasoline, and is stained from sitting for however long with gas seeping into it. talked to some people at USPS and they would take absolutely ZERO responsibility. told me I was out of luck. NEVER will I ever ship another product using this horrendous excuse for a parcel carrier. USPS, you will never receive another dime from me. read more

Those who give this place a good review are either being paid to say good things about them. Or, maybe, it's the color of your skin that is a factor if they are going to treat you fairly. Talking to them either in person or talking to them on the phone, they do not have customer service skills. I have had many many run ins with them over the span of 8 years plus, and hate going in or having any contact with them. Instance one: we shipped a box home (priority) from our vacation, and, upon our return, went to retreive it. We were told there was no box, but, after OUR INSISTENCE, she put the effort out and found it! Miracle of miracles! Instance 2: I had a shipment from a drug company, and we had moved and provided the PO with our corrected address after a recent move. Due to alot of things going on, I forgot when it was coming. After 2-3 months went by, I realized I didn't get the package. Called IB post office, and they told me it was delivered, but it had magically disappeared into the void of PO land. I called the company that sent the shipment, they agreed to replace the shipment that was lost. I DID NOT get it again (shipped Priority) and was later told that the package was determined to be "undeliverable". Once again, I called the comapny, and they sent me ANOTHER package, and this one I got. via UPS. Lo and behold, the "undeliverable" item was delivered to me a week later with the correct mailing address on it, I might add. This is only 2 of many extremely negative experiences I've had (not minimizing the time the mail clerk was talking about me "the americano" while I was next in line) that I will go into detail. If I could, I would never ever deal with them again. My life would be so much happier! read more

They should replace the supervisor at this location. We're not getting our important mail and boxes. When i called the sender, they said that this post office sent the items back and it says undeliverable. Me and my wife took off early from work couple times so we could speak with Robert but he was never there. I even left my phone number to Nancy so he could call me but still nothing from this guy. This issue has been going on for a month now and none of them are looking into it. This place need a better supervisor who can fix the problem and not just hide. read more

Friendly staff and Manager, but they do not pay attention when they input your info into the system. I have been there twice and both times there have been a huge delay in delivering package on time. One of the times they entered the wrong zip code and it went to a whole different city. If you do have this problem, contact Robert the manager. He will get down to the bottom of it ! read more

This place is on the busy side at guineas but overall you shouldn't have to wait long. I like the p.o. boxes. I have had one for about two years now and it only costs about 20 bucks every six months. Some people who complain about their customer service are probably the same customers who I would give a 1 star review to because while I stand in line - most of the customers around me around the worst part about being there. Its a post office which lets be honest is like the DMV if you choose to go there at the wrong times. This particular post office is small but it does the job. Every time I went their system was "slow" that day but I think there system is just slow period. The postal workers are nice but you really need to be clear and pay attention or else the will charge you for some thing you didn't need or for something you already bought like boxes or tape. Parking is a big thing for me and it seems that IB is the land of bad parking and the post office is one of those places. read more

Only twice in all that time have I experienced rude or inadequate service. I've seen them work through insults and personal pain in a professional way. Some post offices have employees that act like they hate their job, and they take it out on the customers. Damn I hate this place. I know my review really doesn't matter because it's kind of a necessary evil to have a post office, but if you have a choice, go FedEx. The lines here are impossibly long every time I've been. The customer service is non-existent. Just because you hate your job and life doesn't mean you need to take it out on the customers. It seems like each clerk is intentionally making every transaction move as slow as possible. It's very aggravating when it would be really easy to make a quick visit very easy. Take your chances with this branch. I will NOT ship from here after several, no~many bad experiences. 2`3 day PRIORITY boxes were received 14 days after mailing. Of course, when I went in to check on the status I was told they do not guarantee 2`3 day delivery. THEN WHY THE HELL DID I SPEND EXTRA MONEY. Didn't tell me that when I shipped. And I ABSOLUTELY NEVER HAVE packages or important mail delivered to my home. My carrier would not leave a package on my stoop (not priority or sign for). I had to practically fight with manager to get package delivered. I live in a small community. He could have left with my landlord as does Fed Ex and UPS.
