Open more than 6 hours per day, better attitudes, lying about "attempted delivery" (when I was waiting for the package all day) waiting in line in the sun for a long time, smells bad (could be the black mold?) gives a good definition for "going postal". read more

I recently had an emergency, as my Post Office Box key was in possession by someone who had malicious intent. I went to the Pahoa branch to get the lock changed, but they were having computer issues, and suggested I wait till they came back online, which I could not, so I left. A few hours latter I was notified by them that the lick was changed, and I could come in at my convenience to pick up the new keys, and pay for the service. Now that's what I call customer service. Ok let's be honest , if you order an express delivery, with signature, and you happen to not be at the door the 30 seconds of the day they try to deliver it , the whole sign a slip for redelivery is INSANE! Just leave it in the truck and try the neck day, I want EXPRESS, not " oh we tried" and then get the slip the next day so we can deliver the day after! It makes it 3 days late. Which should then be free delivery. This is a pathetic stupid policy and the post master in pahoa needs to address it. I've never heard something so stupid in my life. Just keep it in the TRUCK!!!!!! Not oh we tried but then picked up your slip three days after because weekend or holiday oh and now we mail it back cause 5 days?!?! You caused the delay to begin with. This is why mail is dying. Really. I payed for EXPRESS!!! Pathetic. read more

It's hard to write a review on this Post Office. I'm very familiar with it since I've been a Pahoa resident since 1973. The people who work in the post office are very helpful... and patient. Some customers wrap their packages at the counter and ask to use the post office supplies (tape, markers, etc), that slows things down considerably. So the employees are top notch, but the facility itself is too small. And a few years ago they gated off a portion of the parking lot so now there are 4 fewer parking stalls. Also there are not enough employees to accommodate the volume of people who use the post office. Around Thanksgiving till the end of Jan. the line in the post office is at least 20 people deep, with another 10 people jammed into the service area. The clientele of Pahoa also has deteriorated, which gives our town/community a bad name. The guy in the photo looks like he found a parking space but he couldn't find a bathroom. Maybe his wife was waiting too long in line. read more

I am very disappointed in the mail delivery service from this Post office which seems to have Deteriorated OVER THE LAST 40 years! problems I encounter: either my mail is sent to the wrong address, certified letters are NOT DELIVERED even though I am home ( they DO NOT COME TO YOUR DOOR TO ASK YOU FOR A SIGNATURE) so I have to stand in a VERY LONG LINE with very little parking), or I received other peoples mail. We need better office helpers and delivery drivers . read more

yep they really do not care! it starts at the supervisor Michelle, she is rude/annoyed if she has to talk w/ you. that is if anyone picks up the phone usually just rings non stop. when ever we have a subsitute we do not get our mail. thus min 2xs a week thus 8xs a month thus 96 days a year! and thats minimally! and Michelle thinks thats GOOD!! cuz we get it most of the time and people make mistakes...wtf? the only job they have is to deliver the mail to the correct address! 25 yrs ago i loved this post office but like everything else its all going to hell...no one cares anymore! read more

This is one of the worst Post Offices in the U.S. The Post Office is under staffed to the point of having a constant line of customers flowing around the building during most operating hours. And the hours are ridiculous: Three hours on Saturdays, and six hours on weekdays. Can you imagine where FedEx or UPS would be if they treated their customers with such disrespect? read more

I normally have good remarks about the Pahoa Postal Service but not today. Just minutes ago there was a honk in front of my house. As I threw some clothes on the truck left. I went outside to see a heavy 35 lbs. package that was left in my driveway just mere feet off the road. Luckily I got outside before somebody decided to take the Prime box off my hands. read more

Here I go again. Yesterday I arrived home to see several large padded envelopes along with my regular mail in my mailbox,,So much mail that one of the padded envelopes was sticking out of my mailbox a good 4 inches. Yes the door on mailbox couldn't close because of so much mail. If that wasn't bad enough it was raining so now what is hanging out of mailbox is now soaking wet! Really mailperson couldn't you have put all my mail in my carport as in the past? wasn't very professional to leave mail hanging out to get all wet! Hawaiian Shores Customer (and not a happy one). p.s. I leave you a note today in box..guess that's why you left the mailbox door down and open with my mail exposed.. read more

I have never experienced this level of harassment, discrimination or anxiety going to a post office in my entire life on the mainland for simply living on a street that post office doesn't prefer. The wait for this post office is 45 minutes if you are lucky and seems to have only shortened after some staff changes in February. I have had mail handed to me opened by staff as well as personal cards with gifted $ suddenly lost even when the US informed delivery says it had arrived. I have lived here for more than a year and a half and I get anxiety walking in because I know no matter how kind or polite I am, I met with anger, frustration or hostility just for living on a rd the post office has had trouble with in the past. When I give them my address I literally get a sigh, eye roll or some other sarcastic snarky gesture. Packages are often missing and somehow there seems to be a 20-30 minute search to find my packages and mail when I arrive. I absolutely need to have tracking because the post office won't even look for my packages if I don't. I really don't think it's fair to be stereotyped or lumped into a category nor is it okay to treat me unfairly for a history of a place that i wasn't around for. It pretty disgusting that this allowed to happen at a governmental agency especially during a time when getting your mail is essential right. I have tried to get a PO Box at the post office, private facilities etc. None of these options have been available even filling out applications. I really hope the vibe here gets better. read more

Worst of the worst. If you are lucky enough to get your item delivered it will be beat up torn apart, or destroyed. They NEVER answer their phone. If you keep trying they will just take it off the hook. They are a great example of how government funding is creating laziness. I can't wait for UPS or FedEx to but these miserable people out of business. read more
