Sometimes think they are TRYING to allow our USPS to be privatized, which would be horrible. But for the second time in a few months a package mailed via priority mail has stalled for days somewhere between the Rye PO & California. This time a Christmas package mailed on Dec 15 did not arrive until Dec 26! I could have driven it there myself in that time. This is insane. read more

This is my local post office. It could be much more customer user friendly, but always has long lines, short opening hours, and few counter staff. Why do they take passport applications here when there is a staff shortage? On occasion I have had to wait way more than 20 minutes in a long line while the only counter staff is helping a customer with a passport application. read more

They do not take passport photos even though this service is posted on their website. Take PP photos with your application. Second, they often have only 1 person at the counter so beware of possible delays, especially if someone in front of you has a passport application. read more

The post office workers at the window are usually very nice and friendly--easy to work with. And thankfully, the worker I had was the same. However, at the next window, a worker with a name tag that said AJ did not fit what I've come to appreciate about this post office location. I watched as she was impatient with several customers in a row, raising her voice and scolding them like they were bad children. The customers were quiet and did not retaliate in any way, but she was rude and I was embarrassed for the customers. With one gentleman, she told him he took his credit card from the machine too early and raised her voice to him saying, "Do NOT put your card back in! DO NOT put your card back in!" In a very condescending and angry voice. Then she told him to put it back in, explaining what he did wrong like it was a crime. She was even worse with a woman who asked what her package would cost if she sent it via priority mail. Perhaps AJ would serve the public better if she were in the back working with the mail. Even if she were having a bad day, there was no excuse for the way she treated those people. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I made the mistake of using USPS and shipped an item to myself that never arrived. The employees all act like they hate their jobs which they probably do. They offered no help other than to call another post office that offered no help and the website is terrible. I will never use USPS again or go in to the Rye Post Office. read more

I've sworn this place off because the staff here, for the most part, are terrible. Some of the employees are rude and condescending. Apparently, grunting is an acceptable form of communication when a customer asks a question. Others think it's okay to snap at customers and start lecturing them. You can tell they hate their jobs. Some of the employees are actually polite, but I never see them when I do walk in to drop off a package anymore. Wouldn't be surprised if they left. I used to get so infuriated when I actually did buy postage that I reached the point where I was willing to pay more for UPS. The guy there is a lot more pleasant and professional. Avoid during lunch time. Finding parking is a pain and the lines are ridiculous. read more

I avoid post offices whenever possible and this is the worst post office I have ever been to. Really though, in this day and age, is there such a thing as a good post office? First of all there is no designated post office parking, only street parking. I should have known better than to go at lunch hour and to park in the CVS lot across the street, but it was really my only option. After almost getting my car towed from the CVS parking lot (saw the tow truck pull into the parking lot and hopped out of line at the post office, ran across the street and got into my car in time, thankfully!) I spent another 10 mins driving around waiting for a street spot. I got back in line (which had barely moved by the way) and noticed they had closed one of the 3 windows open. And one of the same ladies who was trying to mail something was still at one of the windows from before I left. And I had about 9 people in line in front of me. Really? Why did they close that window during one of the busiest times during the day!?! Finally made it to the front of the line and mailed my 2 packages in less than a minute. The woman who helped me was nice but tried to oversell things (delivery confirmation? insurance?) and at that point it was too late to salvage my mood. Never again. read more

Rude, rude, rude! I never thought I'd go to the post office and be treated the way I was when I visited the Post Office in Rye. I was the second customer of the day. The woman who spoke to me was talking to me like I was stupid. Shipping a package is not that difficult and nobody should be treated poorly by anybody. I had four pillows to return. I put them on the counter and was scolded by the woman for putting them on the counter. "STOP PUTTING THEM UP HERE. Get them down!" This is just one example. I hope that with the holidays coming the usps representative won't have such a bad attitude and will treat people with respect. read more

Haven't walked into a post office for a long time now. And unless I needed to send something urgently in a package, I don't know why I would. But here I met helpful woman who really made things easier for me. There wasn't anyone waiting, so I just stepped to the counter. Excellent service overall. I went to this post office for the first time today to send out a really awkwardly shaped dog bed to be returned. The clerk was helpful in giving me the different options for pricing and delivery speed and he was very pleasant. read more

Today I had to ship an item to Canada. I approached the clerk behind the counter and she was very welcoming and helpful. Her tag said "Acevedo". I had the item in my hand and she found a way to ship it that was the most economical for me after checking the computer. She helped me pack it and she took her time. She was very efficient but took her time and I did not feel rushed. I will continue to go there for my shipping needs. read more

There was one woman at the post office who was absolutely horrible and rude. We had our daughter there on the passport line as is necessary, entertaining her with YouTube on our phone. Whats worse, Elmo or a screaming child? This miserable woman with curly brown hair and glasses screams out "SOMEONE IS RUNNING A SYSYEM AND ITS TOO LOUD". Okay weirdo we'll turn down our "system". So we did. About 20 mins later she called an elderly couple to come to her line and then said something rude to them and made them leave. When they got back into our line they grumbled that she had been "so rude." Guess some people just hate their jobs. Do yourself a favor and DON'T GO TO THIS POST OFFICE. Marisol was the absolute worst person I have EVER had to do business with. The line was almost an hour wait because 4 people were renewing their passports and I guess they had questions. I had to mail 2 packages and submit my own passport for renewal. I did my due diligence and came to the post office with my application prepared and ready to go. The African American woman was courteous and told me the passport application would not be accepted the way I did it because I printed it double sided. So AFTER being on line for 50 minutes I go and refill out the application. First I am told to see another teller because the original one was busy with another customer. That teller can't help me because now she is telling me I need a birth certificate, when I definitely do not. She sends me back to the middle teller I was originally went with. The original teller now tells me to wait for MARISOL, with the brown wavy hair with glasses, because she is the 'passport expert'. I am pretty sure this person is not an expert at ANYTHING because she was awful from the beginning. I am confident with what I had, all I asked her was 'should I staple the photo to the app' and what was that for? This broad really says to me that all my documents are the ingredients and I need to cook my own application. I then remind her that having been there for over an hour now I have seen her baby feed 4 previous customers with their application and all I asked her was a simple question. Now the manager comes out to apologize because now I am yelling. She basically does nothing. I go back out and pay for my package and app to be mailed because after 90 minutes I don't have the luxury of going to a real postal place like UPS or FedEX. If you are wondering how long and how much and how many people it takes to send 2 packages and a passport renewal app, it takes 1 hour and 25 minutes, 4 idiots and 80 dollars. I have made it a point to NEVER go back there, you shouldn't either. read more

I dread going here and, unfortunately, have to do business there 3-4 times per week or more. The snotty unprofessional attitude -- almost disdain -- that I receive from the female employee is not acceptable. She brightens up if desirable guys are in line and will spend any amount of time helping them while the line grows longer. I am always polite and businesslike and have taken different approaches only to receive the brunt of her passive aggressive attitude. One of the guys is somewhat pleasant and professional. I LOVE the Rye Post Office! For the life of me I don't understand why the reviews have been so negative (only two, actually.) Maybe these customers had a lousy attitude when they arrived, but I have ALWAYS gotten friendly and courteous and efficient service from the folks at Rye Post Office. I live in Port Chester and go to Rye all the time. I even know most of them by name (Jose, Marisol, Steven, Carl). It always helps to say please and thank you too .. a lost art I've found. Perhaps it's because I am patient and courteous that they give back the same treatment. But then again, that's they way we should all be, no? As for parking, if I don't find a spot out front or on the side, I just go to the CVS lot. I've NEVER seen a tow truck and if I feel at all guilty about using the CVS lot, then I'll go inside and buy a bottle of water or a pack of gum. They have self service inside anyway. Looking at the years the reviews were posted might have something to do with it, but as I say, I've been going there for many years. I mean, come on .. it's going to be a wait anytime you go to any post office at lunch time, no matter how many clerks are on board. Remember this, people are more likely to complain on YELP than those who would write a positive review. When you consider how many thousands of customers they see at the Rye Post Office and how few complaints there are and three years apart? It's a safe bet they are doing a good job there.
