It is IMPOSSIBLE to get packages in a timely manner…read more For some reason UPS is allowed the dump everything that dose not fit on their delivery truck at the post office. Then, because you were expecting home delivery, the package doesn't have a PO Box number. Now it's in limbo and often gets returned as undeliverable. And if it does have a POB number they don't sort the packages for days because they are short an employee. I understand there's a new post master; however they need to get this straightened out ASAP. Working in restaurants growing up, I know how it feels to be approached by customers so I make sure to be calm and clear when I address a concern. They dismiss concerns about them delivering the mail to the wrong mailbox. They suggested we got a PO Box and I thought it would help since they were having staff issues during the pandemic. It was a very convenient excuse because now my regular mailbox is filled with 4-6 of my neighbors mail. And mine can not be found. As a struggling contractor on the island, I survive based on checks being sent to me. They have lost several checks and then dismissed my concerns about correcting the issue. I do not support the US Post Office in Vineyard Haven and I recommend finding other solutions for mail. Regardless of the load on this office, they have not been able to handle it. Off season and during Covid when they had assistance from Southborough.

Mail is sent to an elderly relative and if the box number is not on it they will send it back regardless. Everyone on that island has a physical mailing address but not everyone or every business on the mainland knows that there is a PO Box associated with it. So you tell me why this branch won't look up box numbers for its residents? Isn't that actually their job?!

It tends to be short staffed, so if you have serious postal issues, be prepared to wait at least a half hour. If your mail gets lost... good luck. Parking is a challenge in the spring&summer. Multiple pieces of pottery in each box, yet anything large or flat wasn't wrapped well and the items in the box had room to roll around which I gather isn't good. I had to submit a claim through insurance for the items. Also the number both online with UPS and with maps 'cannot be completed as dialed. UPS customer service said that's the only number for the store and we tried multiple phones. Short story, get the insurance or pack your own items.

Jeff was working behind the counter and apparently didn't know we were in a pandemic, as he was without any PPE. Wear a mask, Jeff! He wasn't even trying to pretend to have one around his chin, or in his work station. Meanwhile, while I was there four other people came in that were in their 60s and one actually turned around and walked out after looking straight at him, and deciding it wasn't worth it.
