Be sure to make a stop at the USS Edson on your travels! The USS Edson is permanently housed at the The Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum. So there is a lot more history on the ship than solely about the USS Edson. A great way to spend a few hours and learn and see a lot of interesting things. Finding the USS Edson was pretty easy and you cannot miss the ship as soon as you turn the corner. There are restrooms housed next to the gift shop. Parking is free. Came to the USS Edson for a private ghost hunt with our group. Ann was our USS Edson guide and Bill gave us an amazing and highly detailed tour before we began our hunt. Ann and Bill were great - funny and knowledgeable all at once. I believe Bill all served on the USS Edson, so his stories were priceless. Since we were a private group, we were given access to the whole ship - all the tiny places to check out which are not allowed for the general tours. The ship is massive, so be sure to wear good walking shoes. It is amazing to see how these sailors lived and worked on the sea. We had a few paranormal experiences...so get a group together and see for yourself. Or at least take a day tour of the ship, it is worth the price of admission and a great way to remember those who served.

    Huge line!!!!!

Awesome experience being on this old naval ship. You don't realize how massive one of these ships is until you walk on all five levels. I believe the entire staff is volunteer and they maintain it through running a haunted ship and raising funds that way

I had been wanting to tour this for a while. It's $10 for a self-guided tour. Well worth it. My friend and I spent about two hours here! We explored every nook and cranny that we could. The people working are very friendly. If Carla cashes you out, she knows her history! Ask her about Bay City, she has a lot of interesting info! Beware of the mannequins. Every time I saw one, it made me jump for a second. They do ghost hunts here as well. And they just started doing overnight stays. I even hear they have a ghost dog! I would highly recommend going here. It's a good way to spend a few hours.

Had a fantastic tour of the USS Edson by Bill Randall. It's amazing to see and hear about the conditions those young sailors lived under during the Vietnam war. What an incredible piece of history! The volunteers who take care of the ship are so dedicated! Definitely a must see! Just take your time on those steep steps that go from deck to deck and imagine doing it during 40 degree swells! It really makes you appreciate our service men and women.

We all learned a variety of interesting facts from the knowledgable docents, and enjoyed climbing around the ship.

Just reunited myself with the library today. I forgot how huge this library is. It has magazines,…read morenewspapers, dvds...Computers everywhere. There's a cute kids section too. The librarians were very helpful and nice when I had to sign up for a new library card. Forgot how much I actually enjoyed going to a library since I work in a bookstore! There's cute tables near the windows with lamps and two stories of books to browse through.

I thought this library was good but was concerned with a conversation I heard this week. This…read moreinvolved one of the library staff members who was talking with two of his friends that were visiting the library. This library isn't known for being quiet by any means so I guess that's why the staff member figured it was acceptable to have a prolonged conversation. Since I was sitting right next to his friends and there really wasn't any effort to keep the tone to a low level I heard rather surprising and disturbing news about the Bay City Michigan Library. One of the visitors was telling the staff member about the large amount of paperwork his does at his job. The library staff member said they do a lot of paperwork at the library also, his friends found this amusing and asked how paperwork can be overwhelming at a library. The staff member went on to tell his friends that the police are called in 8-9 each week to the library and this creates an enormous amount of paperwork. I'm not sure if the staff member was just trying to one up his friends but even if he exaggerated the numbers by double this was very concerning to hear. The staff member didn't go into any detail about the incidents at the library so I'm not sure what the severity of the events were. I just wanted to visitors aware that you might need to be cautious when visiting the Alice & Jack Wirt Library in Bay City, MI.
