It's a good credit union. The staff are always helpful. I wish there were more locations and atms throughout Utah and the U.S.

To make matters worse, my mother is dealing with stage 4 cancer and they have not asked for assistance financially from anyone, but this does put an additional burden on them. And those that know my parents they would have given their shirts off their backs to assist someone financially. So to give an overview of how this happened, my father had someone hack into his comcast account and put a forwarding phone number (state of WA number, not a UT number) and then they hacked into his Horizon CU account and took 6 different wire transfers out over the next few days. When we got home from taking them to Bear Lake he realized money was missing from his account (at this point only 11K) and we contacted the credit union. They wouldn't freeze the account or do anything over the phone with us. So we went to the CU, and by the time we had done this the people who took the money had taken another 25K. Now the hardest part is my parents have been with this Credit Union since it replaced Davis Schools Credit Union and have banked with it since then. But they authorized all transactions over a verbal confirmation with someone with a "foreign voice" which they asked me if my mother had a foreign voice when we went to the branch to try and get everything cancelled. We have opened up a police report, but my dad was advised since they called the home phone number that was provided to them there is nothing the can do.

They arbitrate on fee reversals, they flip flop on policies, they do not care a smidgeon for their members except that their money is in their accounts and their loans are paid. I've heard they require all employees to never speak about company policies as they have a lot to hide, they require employees to give positive recommendations about the company whether they would or not. In all regards they are heartless. Their motto is a laughable joke perpetuated by a series of heartless management positions enacted profit-first minded board members. Do Not bank with them if at all possible. The only people that get anything out of this company are the upper managers and the Board members. lower employees and members be damned.

I…read morewas in the market for some investment property mortgages so I called my local Mountain America branch. I was referred to Tori, their "mortgage loan expert" at another office. I called the number for a day and a half and it just rang and rang. Not even a voicemail prompt. Finally, I called their 800 customer service number and asked if they could connect me. After a very long hold, the agent told me he was also getting a never-ending ringing phone. He offered to email Tori and have her call me which she did later that day. Oddly, from the beginning her tone was very condescending. She acted very annoyed that I had asked someone else in her company to have her call me. She answered every question with the same annoyed and condescending tone. At the end of the call she actually insinuated I was trying to break an underwriting rule when I simply told her I could do something she requested. Needless to say, I'll be taking my loans and banking elsewhere.

For a busy Friday they were all upbeat, able to help in a fast and friendly manner. I got everything I needed done and a little more with one particular banker. The rates at MACU are amazing, (I'm hoping to transfer my car loan over to them) , and I had the best experience traveling overseas with my MACU debit & credit card. I'm looking forward to my financial future with MACU!
