My wife and I stayed at the Hotel for two nights July 25 and 26, 2017. We didn't golf…read more We are Americans and don't speak French. The proprietors were able to communicate with us in English and were lovely people. We found the Hotel on Hotels.com with little advance notice from nearby Montreal. My rate must have been quoted in USD even though I logged on from a Canadian location. I suspect that Hotels.com quoted me in USD because their cookies think I'm American. When I arrived at the hotel and they charged me (in CAD) more than my quote, my experiences traveling abroad counseled patience, and I asked the proprietor for an explanation. We both kind of agreed that it must be the difference in quoted currencies. The delta was the approximate exchange rate. So be aware and patient if something like that happens to you. The hotel itself reminded me of the kind of hotel one would find in Germany or Austria where the hotel is an extension of the family's living space. I think the proprietors live upstairs. Guests are given keys to the hotel and their room and then left to their own devices. There were few amenities such as food service that I was aware of although the website hinted they have a restaurant. The building looks like something out of the German of Czech countryside but is actually only about 15 years old. It's a solid and quality building. I would not be surprised if the architect and many of the building materials came from Europe. For example, the opening or tilting windows. It was very quiet and had good air flow. The rooms were clean and tidy. It reminded me of a hotel room I had once in Vienna that cost $450 euro a night. The bed was just ok but everything was super clean and there were no funky smells. I slept well (usually don't in new places). Water was hot fast and the pressure was amazing. We did not swim, but that was available. The wi-fi is available in the center of the building on the first floor but not in our room. I think the building is built so well that the signal can't get into your room. The location on the southside of the river provides relatively easy access by car to Quebec City, but the traffic patterns approaching and under the bridges is a little hectic. It's part of the adventure. But once you're on the Boulevard Champlain it's really optimal access to the Old City. Just remember you need the "Pont du Quebec" especially when returning to the hotel from Quebec City. Signs come fast from around corners. I would definitely recommend the hotel. Just know that you are not going to the cookie-cutter Holiday Inn Express (not that there's anything wrong with the Holiday Inn). God bless the Stastny Family and we wish them health and happiness.
