Friends of ours recommended VIP for our stay in Paris. Jan was unbelievably helpful in the process. She recommended many things, including transportation to/from the airport, as well as many intangibles. The process of booking was easy to do and any questions were thoroughly answered. Our apartment was ID#397 7th Heaven (Three Bedroom), and a local representative met us with the keys. Tania was phenomenal in her communication and answered all our questions. She gave us a thorough tour of the apartment and any local rules the building required. Although I didn't need to contact her, I know she would have immediately gotten back to me for a resolution. Our apartment was great. It had everything we'd want and more. Our balcony had a direct view of the Eiffel Tower and we sat and watched the lights come on every night. It was close to anything you'd want/need. It was my first trip to Paris and found the city to be overwhelmingly charming and fun. We will be back! read more

I have used Vacations in Paris 3 times over 15 years and have always been delighted. This time I was traveling by myself (I am a 75-year-old woman who doesn't speak French) and chose a small studio (rental #2). Everything was functional, clean, and matched the description on the website. I felt safe in the neighborhood and building, and loved getting food from rue Cler. I traveled exclusively on metro and bus and the location was great for that. I loved dealing with real people to make my booking, and also having a local contact in case of any problems (on a previous trip I did have a problem with a light fixture and got a quick response from the local manager). read more

I've rented in Paris from ViP several times, and also through VRBO, HomeAway and AirBnB. My last rental with ViP (this past week) will be my last. The apartment was very expensive, and a VERY poor value (Vacation in Paris Apartment #189). For the high price paid, you would expect things at least to be clean and functional. But no. The apartment was dirty; beds had stained sheets and were uncomfortable; doors didn't shut and handles fell off; hairdryer didn't work; drawers and cabinets were packed full with discarded items from prior guests or owner. It was advertised (and confirmed by VIP) as having a washer & dryer (dryer didn't work and we were referred to a laundromat). And the airport transfer arranged by the apartment manager canceled at the last minute resulting in a giant charge to secure a replacement. You use a US-based company like ViP to rectify or attempt to mitigate these types of problems (they didn't). Return of the security deposit (not the damage waiver, even though there was no damage) was the only "accommodation" provided -- and something they were contractually obligated to do. But what about their obligation to provide me with a clean, functioning apartment with the amenities listed? They failed. [It is unclear if ViP posts mediocre or negative apartment reviews on their site, so as a consumer you may not be getting the true picture; proceed carefully] Again, I found this to be a VERY poor value, and a disappointment. Next time I will definitely look to another provider. read more

I first used Vacation in Paris a year and a half ago when I wanted to rent an apartment instead of a hotel. I chose them because they had an easy to use website, prices were in $US (exchange rate much better than Can vs Euro) and they clearly laid out what to expect. The first time I booked with them, I emailed them in May looking for a place for late September, I listed my price range, size, and the dates of my trip and within a day they had emailed me back a list of available rentals. Surprisingly, because Sept is a popular time, there were only about 10 or so apts that fit the bill. Once I choose my apt, I emailed them, and everything payment wise was layed out and easy to follow. We ended up staying in a lovely 1 bedroom on Rue du Bac which was literally steps from the metro and Blvd. St. Germain De Pres. The apartment was exactly as is looked in the photos, and we had a great time. Now, I am headed back to Paris again in Sept and contacted VIP again. Because I booked in March instead of May, I had many more options available. I've put a deposit on a 1 bedroom with elevator and balcony and the per night cost is the same price as the Best Western across the street. I will follow up in September to see if my 2nd experience has lived up to the 1st. read more

This is the first review I've ever written. I am the father leading the family of 5 on all of our trips. I research and scour the internet constantly for the best advice and deals. Thank God I found Vacation in Paris. First of all it is an American company so there are no issues with language and currency. They are a great company to deal with and everything went super smooth. We went with an apartment on Saint Germain Blvd. As advertised it was clean, slept 5 comfortably, and was right in the thick of things. To all families of five out there this was so much cheaper and easier than getting 2 rooms in Paris. The Metro stop was right across the street even! I hated to bother the apartment manager but the airline lost a piece of our luggage so i gave them her number. She stayed up until midnight, when it arrived, to ensure we received it. We chose to use VIP for a stay in Paris July 2010. They suggested an apartment in the 1st. Which does not fit our preferences. For my guy this was his second trip to Paris. What a bust. The apartment was filthy. The floors had not been cleaned in ages. Thankfully there was a mop in the room. So I got the spend the first few hours cleaning our apartment. I called the offices in New Jersey and yes was very angry at the time. I was hung up on, but during the call was told there were no other apartments available for us to be moved to. Yes, the apartment was in that bad of condition. If I am reviewing this four years after the fact of how bad it was. Draw your own conclusion. We were promised wifi .... None. No alarm clock.... Trivial to some, but our departing flights were quite early. Had to purchase a alarm clock. All the stars lined up on this one for a very bad experience. You would have thought VIP would have been more helpful. No! They did not return our deposit. The apartment was in better condition when we left because I cleaned everything. Yeah after all this time I get upset. Big waste of money. 09-04-2014: I was recently contacted by Vacation in Paris. This gave me hope of getting my deposit back. Every email seemed to look for blame rather than owning their mistake. Still no refund. It's not about the money at this point. What I had to lose was lost four years ago. Vacationinparis.com are amazing people to work with. I've used them twice for 2 different apartments in Paris. Both were in great locations, well-equipped and really beautiful apartments. And the price was amazing considering everything. We would've paid more squeezing our 4 person family into a 1 room hotel, than we paid for a 2 room apartment with kitchen and bathroom. Their staff is pleasant to work with and always go above and beyond to help you in any way they can. I highly recommend their service and will use them whenever we travel here. read more

I just used Vacation in Paris in May. It was really last minute and what a great apartment/condo we got. It was right near Rue Mouffetard, a great shopping area for foods. The condo was on the first floor with entry from the courtyard and it was HUGE. The two bedroom condo was cheaper than some hotels i've stayed at before. What a wonderful experience staying in our little pied a terre from VIP! It is so much nicer than staying in a hotel in Paris, which I've done, and more cost-effective too. Our apartment in the 7th was close to the Rue Cler, Eiffel Tower and Metro. So lovely to waken in the morning, brew some fresh coffee and enjoy looking out over the small but lovely courtyard. Everything we needed was in the apartment - the list of amenities was extensive and accurate. Instructions were clear and obtaining keys was easy as they were mailed to us before we left. If you want to live like a true Parisian for awhile, this is the best way. We will definitely be renting from VIP in the future, and would go back to Paris often as they made it so easy. I have rented from VIP six times in the past 5 years. At first we didn't know what to expect, but the apartment was great, even if really small. Americans are spoiled. For every trip since, we have chosen a bigger property in our favorite areas. We have loved them all. We would stay in any of them again, but we like to have a different experience each time. VIP doesn't represent bad apartments, although while some could do with an update, they specialize in newly remodeled properties. Just mark off the square footage before you book. All pictures are taken with wide angle lenses so rooms look more spacious in pictures. Also furniture looks longer. This is common to all sites. VIP is fabulous to work with. I love that they are based in the states and that all fees are included up front. The site first attracted me because it was so easy to use and properties were listed by arrondisement, price, and number of persons. The site map keeps track of your 'already viewed' list. If would be nice to know the floor right up front, because I have an ankle issue, but everyone has different 'deal breakers" and descriptions are summarized for easy scanning. I've searched many sites and I always come back to vacationinparis. I trust them. I'm sorry someone had a bad experience. My only negative is that not all the agents know Paris as well as I would like, but they are honest about the reviews they get and they will give you email addresses of recent renters to help you decide. This really helped me in asking about such things as street noise, neighborhood ambiance, etc. I just love vacationinparis. read more

I have rented 4 apartments from Vacation In Paris since 2007. I can honestly say that every one of them were superb! I rented 2 in the Montmartre district, which is my favourite area of Paris, and both were unforgettable experiences. My very first apartment rental was with my 2 daughters, aged 19 and 28 at the time. We had 10 days in July and when we first arrived, the owner was there with a plumber as the last tenant had plugged up the toilet. He was so apologetic and went above and beyond to make us happy. We had just arrived by train from Lyon, and really needed to freshen up.......he introduced us to his friend in the bldg and she graciously allowed us to use her bathroom for bathing. She was amazing! A couple of days later, he came by and took us on a personal tour of Paris by night! And then brought us to one of his favourite restaurants where the owner treated us royally. Our whole Montmartre experience was so good, I brought my husband back and rented a different apartment. Another amazing experience. The other two were in the 10th and 7th, both super apartments. The staff at VIP are excellent and have not let me down! I highly recommend this agency. read more

This is by far the easiest vacation booking I've ever done. Their website is super-helpful and the apartment was exactly like the pictures. After you book, they send you a set of keys for you to take on your trip, so you don't have to worry about rendezvous with a rep once you get to Paris. You can just go right to the apartment. We had a few questions once we got there, and VIP's representative in Paris made her self immediately available to us on both occasions. We loved being able to stay in "real Paris" off the beaten tourist path. Once we got back stateside, we just dropped the keys in the mail and a few days later our security deposit was back. I am planning to return to Paris next year and I will definitely use them again. I can't say enough good things about them. (Another added bonus: pricing on their website is in USD, and run cheaper than most Paris hotels and vacation rentals) read more

The initial contacts were fine but we did not receive our keys for the apt. until the day before we left. There had been a change in locks and the instructions sent were unclear. We were stuck in the vestibule of the bldg for over an hour. The agency had no emergency # for them so I left a voicemail, no response two days later. The apt was much smaller than expected, dishes were dirty, there were only two towels, not bath size for two adults. No wash rag, dish rag, kitchen towel. One of the only two towels was dirty. About 8 squares of toilet paper left on the roll and no replacement. Would assume a rental agency would make sure the housing they supply is at least minimally up to par. Location of apt was as advertised. read more

DO NOT USE compnay called "VACATION IN PARIS". POOR, POOR MANAGEMENT. We booked an apt in Paris with them. The shower in apt flooded the first morning we used it because: 1) drain was clogged, and 2) there was a hole in the floor basin of the shower.. We spent our first morning in Paris bailing water out of the shower basin and swabbing up leaking water so that apt would not sustain damage or cause damage to apt below. We lost about a half day of our vacation cleaning up. Of course, no one else in our apt was able to use the shower that morning.. We called the owner immediately to report issue. He told us on the phone that he was aware of an issue with the shower drain because the cleaning staff had alerted him before we arrived. Nevertheless, owner did not proactively resolve problem before we arrived. As a result of losing a half day's vacation and for our clean up efforts, we felt it fair that management reimburse us for that day's rent. Basically they said " too bad but no reimbursement". That's the appeciation we got for averting water damage to the apt. While they offered a 5% reduction on our next booking, this is as good as nothing as we will not be booking with them again nor traveling abroad any time soon. Moreover, this is NOT what we asked for or felt was a fair resolution. read more

They had such a great list of apartments and I found one in a perfect location with a modern design. The first time we were supposed to stay in the apartment our trip was canceled by the Iceland volcano. I was a little freaked out because I had pre-paid, had the keys in hand but could not make it to Paris, I thought I was going to have to eat all the costs on the rental. THEY CALLED ME, to see if we were able to make it at all, I can't imagine the nightmare that they had to deal with but they were hustling. Turns out that we could not make it to Paris, but someone in the apartment couldn't make it out. Ah to be stuck in Paris, the lucky so and so. They contacted the owner and within hours got back to me and we rescheduled for New Years. I just got back and can't wait to go again and visit the amazing city and apartment. read more

My husband and I rented a one bedroom apartment for three days in June 2011. Though the apartment looked lovely in the website photo, in reality it was in sad condition. From the filthy floors to the stained towels to the stench in the building, we couldn't have been more disappointed. We checked into a hotel after one night in the apartment. When we returned home and contacted Vacation In Paris we received an email stating that no one had ever complained about this apartment before. They certainly did not offer to return any of our money. We will NEVER rent from them again and suggest others avoid this company. read more

Our 2 BR apt. was practically at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, close to Rue Cler for eating, and Rue St. Dominique for shopping. Every night we sat under the Eiffel Tower to watch the dazzling light show. The apartment is clean, compact but well furnished and well stocked with everything you might need. David, the apartment manager is a wealth of information and was very responsive to our needs. The only glitch we had was trying to get in the building when we arrived. Apparently building security had changed the pass code recently. Also the phone number of the apartment given to us by VIP did not match the actual phone number. Plus we had problems using the public pay phones at the airport even though we carried a lot of change. But it was all a wonderful experience and we would return and stay in this apartment again! read more

Called for help in finding an apartment to rent for our family over Easter weekend this year. They were so helpful finding something that would work for us. They answered all my questions about the neighborhood and the woman I spoke to had even been inside the apartment. The apartment was perfect and much more comfortable than a hotel, especially when traveling with kids. The owner was very nice and helpful when we met her in Paris. This company was excellent in handling our vacation needs for Paris this summer. They responded quickly to questions, provided valuable information for our stay, did everything they said they would, we received the keys in plenty of time with directions on how to find the flat. The flat was clean and worked well for me and my two teenage daughters. The price is better than a hotel. We were in a great location and had a great time in this unit. The only bummer was the washer/dryer unit in that you cannot open the machine while it still has time left on it, so it has to complete the cycle, plus the dryer didn't dry even after two hours. I have since come to find that this is true for any combo washer/dryer in Paris. So that was a minor issue, I still give the whole experience 5 stars! read more

Why there are too few negative reviews of VIP? I recently stayed in VIP-managed rental apartment, #316 (Lovely St Louis.) To say that it was a disappointment is an understatement. I arrived at to find no wifi, no cable, and no telephone service. The refrigerator had been turned off, and the door left shut. There was no house book to even indicate who to contact, what passwords were, or how to use appliances. Dishes and towels were dirty, and there weren't even pillowcases for the two flimsy pillows on the master bed. Advertized as a two-bedroom apartment for five adults, the second bedroom turned out to be only slightly larger than a closet, with no room to even walk to the bed when a suitcase was open on the floor. It was accessible only through the first bedroom, had a ceiling so low that no one in our party could stand upright, and had no window covering to screen the bright light. The tiny bathroom could not give enough hot water for three showers, let alone five. The building entry hall was under construction, and plaster dust hung in the air. Needless to say, it was not what it was very carefully and deceptively promoted as. I was offered a small refund for all the problems by both the on-site manager, Bethany Haye, and the general manager, Richard Stauber. The offers were made via email and in writing. After his original email, however, Mr. Stauber asked me to agree that I would make no negative remarks about the property, a condition I would not agree to. It seemed that the so-called refund for all the inconvenience was more like a bribe to not tell the truth, and I wonder: are there many similar instances that go unreported by dissatisfied customers of VIP who would rather take the money? read more
