After ordering fried seafood, mussels, and fries, we asked to take the leftovers away. A takeaway container was provided, but nobody informed us that there would be an additional charge.
Only after we asked for some paper to keep the fried food separate did the staff suddenly mention a €1 service charge for packing. Since we ended up packing the food ourselves, we couldn't understand what service we were actually paying for.
We were also left waiting a long time after asking for the bill. Even after trying to get the staff's attention several times, nobody came, so we eventually had to pay at the counter ourselves.
When we questioned the extra €1 charge, we were only told that it was the owner's policy. We respect that restaurants can have their own policies, but they should be communicated clearly from the beginning, not after the customer has already requested takeaway.
During our trip across Sardinia, this was the only restaurant that charged extra for takeaway packaging, and unfortunately it left a negative impression. Better communication and more attentive service would make a big difference.
