Val Baussenc is stunning upon entry in the summer, with lots of wildflowers and picture-perfect Provencal scenery.
LOVELY setting, simple but well-equipped rooms, and plenty of nice touches - cute sitting areas in the hotel, as well as porch lounge chairs and tables/chairs at the rooms. The breakfast is good, with an egg boiler (time your own) and plenty of fruits, fresh pastries, house-made jams, local honey, plain and sweetened yogurt and fromage blanc, cereals...no complaints there.
I found a bit of a language barrier, but the service is friendly and we figured it out. The driveway has a gate so after-hours entry requires a room key, applied to the sensor on the "born" (the gatepost, and I learned this French vocabulary word the hard way). The hotel is an easy walk from the restaurants in town, so you can stroll off some of your dinner on the way back.
Did I mention the little pool? (Why are all Provencal swimming pools rectangular?)
Ask for extra pillows as they may be lumpy. Other than that, it's a gem! read more
