We have a 25 year old heavy wooden 4 panel 16' x 8' garage door. The bottom panel was completely rotted out after years of sitting in water. Mark came and gave options to replace the entire door with a lighter metal door or remove and replace the rotted panel. I received quotes from 5 different companies. They were the only company who offered to replace the rotted panel and we went with that option. He scheduled service, made the repair and replacement over the course of 2 days and also replaced the trim and weather seal to boot. I had to go to work and was not able to be there for the appointment. My wife backed into the door with the car. The gate was not damaged but got thrown off the tracks and spring. I can't rate their workmanship because after a brief phone call, I never made it that far. I have an older Martin garage door. I texted the business and got a pretty quick call back (thus 2 stars). My window frames need replacing at a minimum, if that couldn't be done maybe the replacement of an entire panel, or maybe even an entirely new garage door. Tina called me back and before I could even finish explaining what I was looking for, she cut me off, stating she didn't do Martin garage doors and that there was nothing I could do. No offer of sending a tech out or a representative to talk to me about the installation of a new door. Just a quick nothing you can do. I see a lot of good reviews here so I'm thinking they do good work and must have a lot of it. I guess I'll never find out. read more

I just noticed I had done a Yelp review of them over 7+ years ago. That was the last time I needed help with our garage. Yesterday, our garage door wouldn't open. I called late in the day and was able to schedule an appointment for the following day. Yvonne Marc's arrival, he immediately identified the issue. Our garage is now opening. Marc honest and personable. We really appreciate him. He does not try to sell you things you do not need. Just simply addresses the issue. I found VOD by asking around our community Facebook page. They came highly recommended by 6 people. I called and spoke to Tina with an issue of my garage door not able to close fully, then opening and slamming against the limit bolt. Their service call of $95 was very reasonable. Parts for repair are extra. A new belt drive system would be $750. Their technician Mark showed up and we quickly started the Q/A of repairs. Mark was very knowledgeable and even willing to teach the ins and out of limit switch/gear operations. Turns out my limit switches were 180degrees out of synch. He had my limit switches zeroed in, door reattached AND WORKING within about an hour of his arrival! Then he spent about another 10mins teaching me how to replace my squeaking track wheels and where to get them. Turns out all I needed was a service call and not a new opener (Thank GOD). Payment was allowed through Zelle also by the way... A+ with 4 stars on this company. Thank you! read more

Bait and switch. I contacted the company before to set up an appointment for the work. They quoted $375. They did the work and then charged $100 more because it was a heavier door and they needed to use different springs. My tenant paid them, but the company never called me to get approval for the additional cost. I had gotten several other quotes that were less than the additional cost and would never have used them, nor will use them in the future. Then, they suggested I meet with the contractor in person to discuss it suggesting they would physically convince me. Really typical bullying behavior. It's $100, so too small to waist time in small claims court, but still in principle wrong and frustrating. Too bad. Want to support smaller companies and not national businesses, but be ware of bullying and bait and switch. It's Easy to tell lies after you walk away with an extra $100. Bottom line, is this company is dishonest, and will up charge you. My mistake of trusting them. They never called, never texted me. I was informed after the job was complete that it cost more. read more

Our garage door got damaged with two cars stuck inside the garage. Mark was very responsive to coming out that morning and getting the door open so we could get out cars out. We also had him replace the damaged door and his price was comparable to the big box stores but his timeline was faster. He installed the new door as scheduled and we are very pleased. My experience was a year and a half back but I trust the same honest and fair ethos is still in place today. My door had been damaged and over time the door panels had worked apart so the door stopped functioning. I used their virtual software to select and order a complete garage door with a new operator since the bozo's in Sacramento saw fit to make it a law that all new door openers also have a battery backup to use in a power failure. For most people it's a needless expense but someone who makes garage door openers probably gave a big donation to a few of those political charlatans in the State Senate and there you go, millions of door openers are now out of code. When Valencia Overhead door came to measure they told me I did not need a completenew door system and that they could simply replace to door panels at a significant reduction in cost over a complete system. By not touching spring, guide rails, or the opener they would be within code and the cost would be considerably less than a full replacement. He didn't have to offer that and likely would have made more money off the larger sale of a complete system so I am keeping their number in case I need anything in the future. read more

Chose Valencia Overhead based on the reviews here and that it looks like a family owned, local company. Called on a Thurs evening around 5:30. Voicemail, no surprise, left a message that our garage door wouldn't close. Got a call back around 9:30 Fri morning and arranged for a service call after 2:30 or 3:00 that day. I left work early and got home around 2:40. Waited for a call or text until a bit about 5:15. Nothing. I texted "Wanna try tomorrow" her response was that they were too busy the next day. Nothing about our arrangement that day. I responded with "got it" expecting nothing from them after that. Several minutes later I got a text that he was on his way. A little while later, close to 6:00 got a text that he was there. He came in, took a look and said he'd have to get up there to tell me just how bad it was. I asked him how long, he said 15 mins, could be hours. I came back in 15, the door was down and he was working, said it wouldn't be long. Came back about 15 minutes after that and he was done. He explained very thoroughly what he had done and what I should look for in the future. Door was working fine. I told him I'd get him a check and asked him how much. $300. I'm not going to criticize his work, because he did a great job, was clear on what he was doing and got it done quickly; around 35-40 mins. But who charges $600/hr for garage repairs? There were no parts involved, only labor. Not only that, no one mentioned the three hours I waited or the lack of communication. My advice would be to make sure you've got plenty of time and maybe get a quote before the work is done. read more
