I have to say- this place really surprised me. Brand new to Devonport, we were looking for somewhere Italian to eat and though the restaurant received a good rating, there were very few reviews to read. I usually read a multitude of reviews before weighing up the pros and cons of a restaurant (who wants to spend their money on bad food?) before deciding on one so this endeavour was a little risky for me. Reading the menu did not fill me with confidence. It seemed like a very Italian franchise-esque kind of menu and my doubt began to grow. My two companions ordered pasta dishes and I ordered the chicken breast avocado.
The pasta dishes were lovely- I had a bit of the gnocchi pesto (not overcooked at all and a nice, strong pesto flavour) as well as the penne amatriciana and both were delicious. I mean, it's not perfect Italian by any standards but it definitely gave the same warm, comforting feeling all pasta ought to give. My chicken breast was not ridiculously thick like they serve at some pubs- it was an adequate width with a delicious creamy sauce topped with a generous amount of chopped avocado. As for the "seasonal vegetables" on the side- I had no idea what to expect from this. What I did receive was absolutely scrumptious! Sweet potato, mushrooms, onion, capsicum, string beans and zucchini! Yum yum yum!!! A very generous amount of this too as well as a bit of rocket accompanied the chicken to make an overall very satisfying meal. I am very glad indeed that my doubts did not prevent this visit! Our waitress was lovely too an able to accommodate a very specific coffee order (which was also very nice). read more
