Valerie has been nothing short of wonderful. I feel so lucky to have found her, she gave us our first baby! After we facetimed her to see the puppies and go over some questions we scheduled a day to come pick out our puppy, she gave us lots of time to make sure we made the right pick! I was annoying and asked for pictures in the 2 week wait, she was more than happy to send me pictures!! She will send you home with shavings for potty training and it makes potty training a BREEZE!! Any question we had, she answered. Our puppy is so sweet and we are so so in love with him, he is the sweetest most affectionate boy! Worst experience ever with a breeder!!!!! Threatening a lawsuit through texts for posting how our experience went, not getting the vaccine info when we picked up the pup, my girls and I never met mom on the first or second visit. Slander from Valerie on Google in which she had no business or basis to say and dragging my kids into this. It's a breeder trying to save face. read more

My experience with Valerie's retriever ranch marks the most unprofessional experience I have ever had in my life, starting off bizarre and transforming into a living nightmare. From the first day I was scheduled to see her operation, she cancelled on me the morning of and rescheduled to the next week, then tried to cancel on me again but I told her I was already almost there. I had never been to a breeder before so the hollowed out trailer home filled with wood shavings, a few whelping 8x8 rooms with fresh litters in a kiddy pool and 2 more litters on the patio running around in more wood shavings didn't raise any "puppy mill" flags to me. The week before picking up my pup, out of the blue, I got a bizarrely hostile text from Valerie claiming she did not appreciate me planning to show up unannounced, telling me "nobody comes here without being invited." After clearing up the random accusation, letting her know I never had any intention of doing so, things went rather smooth. I picked up my wonderful little baby golden and went on my merry way. About 4 months later I went to take my pup to get spayed and her bloodwork showed abnormal kidney activity. We cancelled the spay and I immediately went on to spend thousands of $'s to get her properly diagnosed. Then came the bad news, she was diagnosed with Renal Dysplasia, an incurable, degenerative kidney disease that develops during utero and is known to be highly linked to genetics. I let Valerie know what happened and she Was quick to let me know that it couldn't be genetic, as all of her dogs passed the genetic testing and were cleared of this specific genetic anomaly. (I would later find out that was a lie and genetic testing for this disease does not exist.) As it turns out, another pup that Valerie had bred about a year earlier died of this very same disease, it was only 10 months old. Then I came across another client of Valerie's who had a pup that spontaneously died at 1 year old, but was never diagnosed with anything. When that owner reached out to Valerie to get a copy of the genetic testing she had done, Valerie blocked them. Turns out most reputable breeders publicly post all the genetic testing and lineage of their dogs, Valerie is an exception. So I reached out to Valerie again, I asked about what genetic testing she had done, I pointed out that this is not a one off situation, this is the 3rd pup in two years, and those are only the ones I found out about. She again told me that all her pups were cleared so it couldn't be genetic, and she was going to have her well water tested and rodents exterminated to see if that was the cause. She then sent me a link to some genetic testing that only showed results for physical traits they might have. I simply asked her if she could show me the genetic testing she had done, to which she responded: "I will take care of it. No further discussion warranted. Please bring her (the pup) back. It sounds like your focus is on attacking me instead of caring for her. I will gladly take care of her and refund your payment. Please do not contact me again unless it is to announce that you are bringing her back to me, or that you look forward to another pup in the future." I again, just asked to see the results and haven't heard back since. I asked to just get a refund so I could begin to cover the medical expenses. Text messages and emails led to radio silence. I was very professional and level headed with all my communication to Valerie, despite the highly emotional situation I was working through, and I have all of our communications on record to prove it. She returned the favor with child like behavior. If you ask me, Valerie is very clearly hiding something here and I would recommend extreme caution before doing any business with Valerie's Retriever Ranch. If you want to take the risk bringing a new family member into your home, just for them to die in less than a year that is up to you. p.s. Make sure to ask her for the genetic health test results so she can block you too! read more

I'm disappointed. I got a puppy from Valerie November 2021, my first dog of my own. The process was good where Valerie answered any questions I had leading up to the pick up date. I asked for the puppy documents (AKC, genetic testing, medical records, etc.) and info prior to getting my Dakota, but she said I would get all that when I pick her up. When I did pick her up, I only had the AKC register info and vaccine history, no genetic testing as Valerie always proclaims. My little Dakota was super sweet, smart, active, and my everything. Dakota died unexpectedly, and I reached out to Valerie letting her know what happened, asking for the genetic testing, and asking if this has happened to Dakota's siblings. After asking a couple times for the genetic testing Valerie BLOCKED me. She also said, "no this has never happened to any of my pups." I later found out that was not true as other pups have died or were diagnosed. Before picking a breeder, they should have the bloodline, K9 data, AKC, etc published on their website. I'm mostly disappointed that I was hoping Valerie would reach out to Dakota's siblings parents so they have the opportunity to get thorough check ups to help cure or help their furbabies lives last longer. Dakota died 3 weeks before her 1st birthday. read more
