I have worked in the City of Hayward for over 25 years. I think I've been to this Valero station about 15-20 times. It's not the best place to get gas. Prices are usually a bit jacked up due to it's location near Hwy 92. At night, it's dark, dirty and you feel a little unsafe. But the big negative about this station is when "pay at the pump" doesn't work. Because depending on who's working inside the snack shop, will decide the level of weirdness you might experience. If you have to pay inside, they will probably tell you to pay upfront (even with credit). So I said $35, and he said that's not enough. After awhile, that Chevron across the street looks alot better. So if "pay at the pump" doesn't work, get in your car and leave. There's a Valero at Hesperian Blvd x A Street that boasts "cheapest" gas in Hayward. read more

The ownership of this gas-station/Mechanic shop has changed in this last year or so. I will say the Mechanics prices are clearly far higher than before; during the previous ownership. As there is no mechanic phone number displayed online you have to call the gas station front desk. The man that always picks up always seems to be in a hurry to hang up and gives you zero information about gas prices, mechanic's phone number or anything regarding. Very confused as to what that phone number even serves as. I will say, though the mechanic himself is very friendly and informative on what your car needs and is willing to form a proper relationship with you and your car. You just have to go there in person to see when he can give your car in line. read more

Horrible customer service. I have never come across someone so rude and unprofessional. I came to this gas station July 14, 2022 about 4:15-4:30pm. I spoke because I'm polite and courteous to everyone. (We're all humans no matter our differences). I had won $20 on my scratcher decided to turn it in. Cashier said no 7am to 12 only when boss is here. I said ok. We since I'm here give me $30 on number 8 (I already had gas but was topping it off since I was there). The cashier mumbled loudly cheap I said excuse me he said just keep the card in. I said no thank I canceled it and walked out. I know I'm only one person but you lost a customer. read more

This gas station is bait and switching their customers, they have an advertise price of 5.95 per gallon at the time of writing this review but when you try to pay for the gas the cashier will state a higher price. If you call him out on it he will not sell you gas to not leave a paper trail. The last guys that ran the smog shop (middle eastern) were very polite courteous and professional. The new Latin guy working there is lazy, rude and always frustrated. Frustrated about what?? One of the worst gas stations I have ever been to in my life. These people are greedy, stingy, and very rude. I have been coming to this gas station for the last 10 years every now and then I try to avoid it as much as possible recently me and my wife and my mother have been laid off, so sometimes I go there with change to try to get gas. The attendant told me that he will not take my change even though it's all quarters I show them the utmost respect. I don't cuss I don't yell I speak politely. and then one time he told me that he will not take less than five dollars for anything so I listen to their rules by that time I found a job so I wasn't paying with change anymore but now every time I go the prices on the cigarettes always change, the price on the store items are subject to change by the cashiers discretion which is outrageous and ridiculous. I can assure you that I spent thousands of dollars there on gas and snacks. Me and my wife would like to go snack up before we go on a road trip which we do a lot as well as my family members they go there as well, but for some reason the Indian man with a turban if he's not sleeping, he's always asking me sarcastic and petty questions or making up outrageous rules. I thought that we were in a change shortage every store I went to said that they need to change because there's a shortage and change so I don't understand why he wouldn't take the change. It's not like I'm a crackhead and I wasn't going there with pennies not only that disrespect constantly treating me like I'm a poor person or a crackhead the gentleman is very very rude. He understands that I don't have a lot of money yet. He wants to upcharge me. On items just because he feels like it it doesn't make any sense every day the prices are different and every day the attitude gets worse and worse I am Indian myself so I know the stereotype and I hate to say it but it is real. These people are rude, greedy and they just do not give a shit about anything but money and sometimes I go inside and I'll spend $100 on snacks the next week I'll go and they won't let me put five dollars in gas. It doesn't make any sense to me on how someone can be so rude to someone, and then you wonder why nobody goes to your gas station the new guy that is working there is also a prick he looks down on. Everyone treat everyone as if they're a crackhead I understand the area we live in so there's a lot of bums and crackheads, but you don't have to treat everyone like that. And I don't understand why these Indians are so greedy and rude. Our culture is based on family and hospitality and giving to the needy. Yet these people are exactly opposite of what the Indian Bible teaches. How can you wear a turban and be very religious, but look down on everyone, especially if they have no money and I hate to say it, but this is something that my people do often they praise people with money look down on poor people and they are very stingy, greedy and rude and I told myself I would stop coming here stop giving my money to them but sometimes when I get off of work at 3 AM they are the only gas station open so I am forced to go there and deal with these people looking down on me, treating me disrespectfully calling me names talking to me sarcastically basically making fun of me because I don't have enough money. It took 30 minutes to fill my car with gas, because the pump was super slow. Right before it stopped the gas started spilling. I had gas all over me and the pump charged me like $20 extra for the spilled gas. I told the employee which I am almost sure is the owner not the employee and he told me to go in the bathroom and wash my hands and proceeded to scold me for saying that I was charged for more gas then my car takes because his pump is not working properly. He knew it was not working properly because he said that it was not because of the gas shortage. Also while I was pumping the gas this same employee was smoking outside super close to the pumps the gas truck that was delivering gas. This will be a three part review. Part 1: The Gas station for Gas: Typically cheaper than Chevron across the street, this gas station is nothing special other than it also has a repair shop. More on that below. Part 2: "The Starter Repair" So in 2014, around Thanksgiving time, I was having trouble with my truck, it would sometimes not start and I happened to be across the street at Chevron when my truck completely died and would not turn over. One of the guys at Valero was able to pull my truck from their lot and do an emergency repair to the starter. This was around lunch time and I got it back before 5 PM. It got me home and I was happy. The next morning, it would not turn over. After about 10 very long stress full mins, i got the truck to turn over and I was on my way back to the repair shop. They said I had a leak that was getting into the starter, which lead to the whining sound my engine was making. They replaced it free of charge but I asked for an oil change and everything worked out okay, but I was a little concerned they did not check my oil level in the truck prior to repairing the 1st starter. Part 3: "The Check Engine Light" In April of this year, I had to register my truck to get my tags and get a SMOG test as well. A light on = Automatic Failure so I took it back here since it was close to work, drop it off in the AM, get it back later in the afternoon. I called up, dropped it off, and waited...and waited...and waited. I called around 1:30 PM and they were still working on the sensors. About an hour later I get a call from them and they said the BROKE MY RADIATOR!!!! They had to replace the whole thing and I would be with out my truck for the rest of the day and part of the following. I was LIVID I mean very upset and very pissed off. The guy was upset too, because he did not want to do more work than is needed but he told me that the cost of the Radiator would be charged to ME!!!! After careful thoughts (remember, I didnt have a damaged Radiator to begin with) I said fine, fix it. They did not charge me labor nor an upcharge on the Radiator, just the cost of the other work they did plus their wholesale cost of the radiator (roughly an extra $90). Picked it up and apologized for flipping out and they were completely on my side saying that things like that happen and its not like they wanted to do more work on the truck for free, but they ate the labor (would have been roughly $200-300 worth of time) so I figured it was as fair as I could get. In all, with 3 different points of view, I still give this place a positive 4/5 review. My mechanic at home in San Jose does better work but is cash only. I had to use a card on this one so I bit the bullet. Most likely will be back as they have the most recent history with my truck and they at least helped out as much as possible given the situation. Pumping gas this morning and the idiot at the counter came out and told me to stop pumping. Something to do with the guy in front paying $20 for the island I was at then proceeds to pull the nozzle out with it still pumping gas and covers me from head to toe in gasoline, Had to go home, throw away my clothes and shower again, made me late for an important meeting. My bike got a flat right before going into the freeway. Went to this valero to get air, there pump was out of service. So i went to ask the mechanic. he said with an attitude " Yea I guess you could as long as you put it back, Its right there" I thought he was pointing to the one outside with the No service sticker. he said "No that not were I was pointing I am pointing right here." I just left due to back in my day when a half wit like this who I understand, you have bad days. work is rough. What say you.
