I have been a patient of Dr Birdwell for a good number of years, my mother was also a patient of his until she passed away in March 2013. I cannot imagine changing doctors for any reason. Katherine actually listened to me in such a concerned and caring way. When I mentioned I had chest pains a few weeks ago she immediately ordered an EKG. This is the first time I went to doctor Cain at Southwest foot and Ankle Clinic…read more When I walked in, I was surprised at how clean and quiet the front room was. But I soon found out why. They took me back almost immediately. And when I got back there, I saw that they were quite busy in the back, but it was still very quiet. It must've been the carpet. They took me to my room and asked some basic information and then the doctor came in. He asked me a few questions,taking a history of my health and then started examining my feet. He did a thorough examination, the pulses(pedal pulse) and such things, looking for anything going on with my feet. Then he did an more questions about my feet my health. I told him I had MS and I had paresthesia. I felt numbness and tingling in my feet. I had numbness all the way up to my mid-calf and no reflexes in my feet from the MS. But lately, I have been feeling pain in my two or three of my toes and was sure it was diabetic neuropathy--the name for that particular problem. We chatted a bit about the different things going on, and then he sent his nurse in. She measured my feet, and found one foot a half size bigger than the other foot! We look through the catalog until I found a really cute pair of shoes that look like an SAS pair of shoes i had at home(SAS ARE WONDERFUL but 145-200 dollars) I really liked the tan look, of these shoes. We decided to order those. The total cost, was $300 plus, but my insurance covers most. If you don't have insurance, I'm sure there's a discount. My shoes should be in this next week, and then I will make an appointment and go in and they'll do a quick measure of my feet, let me walk in them, and see how they do, give me some information, and then I'll go home with them. I get three different inserts for my shoes every four months. I'm supposed to change them.m, and I go back in a year for another foot examination. The doctor told me it was very important because of my lack of feeling from the MS, the neuropathy and such, that I definitely needed diabetic shoes to keep my feet safe. I know there's a difference in diabetic shoes, such as slightly wider around the types, and the fit is better--there's less places for your feet to rub, so I was happy with that, so I'm simply waiting now going to get my shoes. Overall, I was very pleased with the nurses, and Dr. Cain. The place was very professional, I had questions, and they answered them. I was easy it was easy for me to reschedule. It was easy for me to schedule a follow up appointment and you asked them about the insurance of what it would pay and things like that--they were quick with the answers. I would definitely recommend you at least try them out. The name used to be Lawton and foot clinic but they now have three different clinics, so they change the name to Southwest foot and ankle clinic that way Altus and I believe, Duncan, would be included in the name. They do many other things as well. But I wanted to give you a step by step with what their sweet and professional was like.

Not only are his his hands work amazing, but also the other modalities he has to offer including the use of a massage gun. I appreciate that Boghi has made massage gun videos that are accessible, easy to understand, educational and mostly provides pain relief. Due to chronic illness, my body has some type of constant pain and going to get body work all the time can add up so having these videos gives me the ability to help myself in between times if needed. I have a strong massage gun that I would always try and pound out the pain, but more often than not the pain would return by the next day. The techniques that Boghi provides is gentler and helps teach some of my muscles to respond differently such that I get longer periods of pain relief. I haven't been able change some habits ie walking that create the pain/tightness because of nerve damage , so this kind of relief management has been very helpful. In addition, there is potential that the longer periods of relief may start to shift some patterns my body is stuck in. I'm also grateful he's available for phone /video consults should I have questions and/or need assistance modifying according to my body.
