This is the one & only place that I truly believe a 5 star rating just isn't enough! Where do I start.. This may be a long one so buckle up. First and foremost, I am just your average chick in the sense that I do NOT habitually workout, count my calories, meal prep, etc. I did have a membership at LA Fitness for 3 years (2015-2017) but was really only actively using it for 1 year so I finally made the decision to cancel it. I first step foot into this box July 4, 2017 when my boyfriend invited me to come to their post-WOD ("workout of the day") BBQ. I literally only came for the food, sorry! At the time I still held a membership at LA Fitness and had absolutely NO intentions of committing to another gym; Especially not CrossFit. But of course everyone urged me to give it a try and I left that day with the mindset that CrossFit was a cult (lol). [...Fast forward to March 2018 when the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games were going on...] My boyfriend asked me to come to the box with him every Friday this month to record his WODs and so I did. On the last week of March, he spontaneously bought me a Groupon for their Fundamentals class ($32) and the rest was history... I've never found a fitness program that I enjoyed until I started CrossFit. Reasons why I love this program (and why it works for me): *Your WOD is created for you & released on their app (Wodify) 8PM the night before so you never have to pre-plan before coming. Plus, they're typically only 15-30mins long but it'll get your HR way up there bc of its style of HIIT. *You always work out in groups/classes which is motivating when you feel like stopping mid-workout but everyone around you is still going strong. Everyone is also so welcoming & full of encouragement! *If there is an exercise that you are unable to do, there is always a scaled version of it or some type of exercise you can do to work on those targeted muscles. *There is always a coach present to stretch you out as a group, ensure everyone warms up properly, & guide you throughout the WOD/correct your form if necessary. *They have a great sound system & nothing is better during a workout than music drowning out the sound of your pain. More about the Groupon Deal: Fundamental classes start at the beginning of every month. Classes are MWT @ 7:30PM for the first 4 weeks. You will then graduate to the intermediate class which you will be allowed to attend for the following 2 weeks and decide if you would like to purchase a membership. You get a cool swag bag for joining which includes free monthly body composition analysis at Max Nutrition. More about CrossFit Valitus: Classes are offered 6 days/week (Monday-Saturday) with M-F at 6AM, 7AM, 12PM, 4:30PM, 5:30PM, and 6:30PM and Saturday at 9AM or 10AM. Some Saturdays are partner workouts to which you're more than welcome to bring a friend/family member as long as they're familiar with the WOD's exercises. They're also open on Sundays at 12PM as an open gym so you can come and work on any exercise that needs improvement. Oh, did I mention you get access to Dynamo's Swim Club!? Lastly, there are currently 4 coaches and every single one of them is awesome in their own way. *Crystal--The owner and awesome fundamentals instructor *Art--The head coach who's great at making sure you're stretched out for you WOD and trains our triathlon team *Rene--Beast crossfitter who also holds flexibility and strength training classes a few times a week *Isa--Best WOD DJ and motivator since she Rx's just about every workout (sometimes 2-3x/day!) Whew, that was a long one but I warned you! I know CrossFit may seem intimidating and even scary to the average person but don't knock it till you try it. It's only been a little over 2 months for me and I've already seen changes within my body and PR'd more exercises than I could even count. I always see people running outside for a warm up and wanted to come by and take a class. Staff was very nice enough for me to make up a class that I had missed through class pass as I had wrote down the wrong time on my calendar. Went on a Saturday morning and thank goodness I didn't eat. With the amount of burpes, I almost wanted to throw up my gatorade, which was the only thing in my system. I took crossfit, but it was couple of years ago that I had forgotten that it wasn't for me. Though it's awesome, it's just not my cup of tea and definitely not for anyone that wants to look all pretty and dandy while working out. It's pure sweat and pushing yourself. We did sled pulling, rowing, burpes, sit ups, frog jumps, mountain climbing, dumbells, and more... I was literally drenched at the end of the hour class. Though hard, I do feel awesome afterwards. Couple things to recommend, definitely wear gloves and sunblock as you'll be outside half of the time and other half on the ground, which has those little bumps like Lego platform. Also, while stretching at the end, use a mat so you won't bruise your knees. read more

First and foremost, Art and Crystal are fantastic coaches. In the past year, I've had to move to different CrossFit Boxes (living in different locations) around GA and FL. In that time span, I've tried 4 different CrossFit boxes but none of them lived up to the expectation that CrossFit Valitus (formerly CrossFit Georgia Strong) had left. What makes CF Valitus different from others? The coaching and the community. I completed my fundamentals course almost 10 months ago, a 6 week intro to CF, and safely learned the basic CF movements under the careful eye of Art and Crystal. The coaching here is phenomenal and is what sets them apart from the rest of the competition around Chamblee. When I returned to the Chamblee area after moving away for 4 months, I tried other competitive CF boxes around the area and was very disappointed. A CF gym where the coaches are not actively critiquing you or helping you improve is a big turn off for me Secondly, the community of athletes here vary from all skill sets. However, this is not intimidating at all since everyone here is so friendly, everyone is always welcoming and cheerful. The classmates I had during my foundations class also continued their membership and we all rock the morning class together! Lastly, when looking for a CF box, space and equipment are always on everyone's mind. This is not an issue at CF Valitus, the space is HUGE and the equipment is plentiful. CrossFit Valitus has been my favorite box to date. I wish my body didn't feel like sack of potatoes every morning. 6am class let's go! read more

Coming into a box is always a little overwhelming for me, but after a few days I felt very welcomed here. Art and Crystal are two awesome coaches and they were very hospitable. I just feel a great sense of care from these two as far as challenging us individually and wanting to see us succeed and get better, not just stronger. Art really knows what he's doing and he takes the time to help each person in whatever they want to focus on or get better at. Besides that the people here are awesome. So friendly, such a diverse group of people of all sizes, races, strength, skill levels and much more. Usually, I work out at home. But when I want a group class, I prefer CrossFit Dojo. The vibe here is very different from the neighboring (and also well-executed) Adrenaline Fitness. As much personal attention as you want. The mood is, hmm, serene? But yet when we start our workout, I'm extremely motivated. One of the best features is the kids workout that goes simultaneously with mine. In fact, my kids are usually dragging me to the gym, not vice-versa. I know some people who have worked out here regularly, and they have had the most dramatic fitness improvements of anyone I know. The trainers and owners here are all in fantastic shape, and will talk nutrition just as much as exercise. And speaking of owners, yes this is a local business, and the owners are usually at the gym. read more

There are multiple CF choices in this part of town. I mistakenly tried another one. Disaster. Threw me into a Workout of the Day without any instruction. Several months later... I decided to give CF another shot and made my way to the Dojo. Night and day difference. Hands-on instruction. Inviting Do yourself a favor and join CrossFit Dojo. Art, the owner and dojo master, will take care of you. He is a skilled, knowledgeable CrossFit technician, but what sets him apart is his individual attention and patience....because CF is difficult! And helping a person cross the mental and physical threshold of the CF world takes a unique teacher. I had never met Art or anyone else at the Dojo before joining and have no financial interest in it. I just like seeing the good ones be recognized...from my personal experience in this case. read more

I signed up w/ a $26 six week Groupon for fundamentals, as I am new to Crossfit. The instructors are encouraging, knowledgeable, and want to make sure you're doing what's within your limits and just a liiiiiiiiittle bit more (w/ safety/health in mind). Through the training you'll gradually improve and become more athletic. There's an app and website to allow you to track your performance, reserve classes, see the day's upcoming workout (helps me mentally and physically prepare myself), and there's a social component. If you're serious about getting in shape this is the place to be. I really like the facility, but I never give 5 stars. I feel that everyplace can always use some type of improvement. Found this lil Crossfit "gem" on groupon recently and have been attending the crossfit classes for about 2 weeks now. I appreciate the fact that Art & Crystal allow us to go at our own pace, but motivates us to "push ourselves". The workouts are the TRUTH and though I hate it, I love it!! I can feel myself getting stronger... the gym is never over-packed, so you have ample space to workout and the "experienced crossfitters" (is that a word?) are always willing to help. I loved my time with CrossFit Valitus. I say that in past tense because I have moved to Sandy Springs and this place is no longer convenient for me. But I definitely miss it! While I was a member of this gym, I was in the best shape of my life. It is a good mix of strength and cardio, and as mentioned by many other reviews, the community is what sets it apart. I went to CrossFit Valitus today excited to workout I walked in the building stood at the counter for several minutes no one came up to assist me so I could get started, it was several people standing around so I walked up to one of the ladies standing on the floor, I asked her do you know who works here at that time she told me NO then she asked me are you New I said yes I'm here to take the class I bought a groupon for the Intermediate class. After telling me she didn't know who worked there she walked me to the computer & asked me to put my info in the system. I showed her my Voucher she marked it redeemed then I told her one of the exercises I would need an alternate lift because I took CrossFit in the pass and hurt my arm so I would prefer an alternate one she immediately told me CrossFit may not be for you, well I need to give you a test. She asked me to lift the bar and said no you need to start with fundamentals & if you are not willing to lift the bar with your front arm then CrossFit is not for you. I told her that one lift I would prefer to lift with my shoulders instead of my front arm due to my pass injury so if that's not going to work you can give me a refund so she told me to contact Groupon for a refund. She was extremely rude from the time I walked up to her, they put out an ad on Groupon to bring in people but treat you like they don't want you there once you arrive. It was one of the worst experiences I have experienced most gyms are willing to train you. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone read more

I had never done a CrossFit class before starting here, and I had a great experience all around. I have some foot and ankle problems, and even with these issues, the coaches were extremely helpful in making sure I was still getting a good, full workout. This CrossFit is one of my favorites to drop-in on. Having owned and operated my own CrossFit in Southern California, I can honestly say these guys have the formula down. It's all about creating a community based on fitness. The owners (Dave & Art) are friendly and helpful and just good people to be around. No matter what skill level you are, these guys will customize to your needs and get you on track. The members are super nice and supportive. That's really important for new members who might be intimidated by the very idea of CrossFit WOD's. The members can range from a typical 45 year old mom who wants to get back in shape to a 20 year old that is looking to take their fitness to an elite level. It really is for everyone! I love that they also have Yoga, and Karate. They are kid friendly and dog friendly! If you live in the Norcross or Peachtree corners area, I highly recommend joining CrossFit Dojo. I've been going to Crossfit Valitus for over 3 years, and love love love it! the trainers are very knowledgeable. Art is the head trainer and has done weightlifting, running, yoga and martial arts since he was a teenager (~30 years). He is great at watching form and knowing when to add weight or back off. The WODs are heavy on metcons which I love! I also love the FIT classes which focus on weight loss and keeping you moving for an hour. Crystal and Olivia are both excellent instructors for these classes. There are a range of ages and abilities in the members (teenagers to 70's). Art teaches yoga a couple times a week and will customize the class on the fly for the participants. They also have lockers and showers which many boxes don't have. read more

Fantastic! I have been a member here for 3 years now. The owner and coaches have created an excellent environment to get fit. I travel for work and have been to Crossfit gyms all over the US. From those experiences, I can without a doubt say Crossfit Valitus stands out. They are very attentive and work with all levels of athlete. I'm surprised this gym got so many good reviews. I had been doing CrossFit for about 7 years when I gave this place a shot and had visited many CrossFit gyms before. Because of the times of classes, I went to the on-ramp or beginner's class in the evenings frequently. The classes here were so big that it seemed unsafe, especially for beginners. One night they did back squats and it was absurd the HORRIBLE form that I saw. Instead of the coaches correcting form, they actually pushed members to add more weight. This automatically gives me a bad taste for any CrossFit gym. You should be teaching your members proper form and making sure they adhere to it, especially before trying to get them to lift heavier. The programming was poor. I would go two days in a row and the exercises would be very similar from one day to the next. If you have a heavy leg day one day, there shouldn't be a heavy leg day the very next day. Everybody was very friendly so I can see how people, especially those who have never done CrossFit, would feel welcome, but I think it's unfortunate that people who are new to CrossFit would come to this as a first gym. I've been to MUCH safer gyms before. Almost every day that I left, I would tell my husband about something that happened in the class that worried me for the other members who weren't experienced enough to know better. I stuck around for a full month since that is what I had paid for, so I feel like I got a good enough experience to know that this is not a very good CrossFit gym. read more

I have been going to this gym for about 7 months with my husband. He convinced me to try it because I plateaued with my workouts and needed to change things up. I was a little hesitant and intimidated in trying Crossfit because of its' reputation, but I'm glad I bucked up. I have gained muscle, strength, and flexibility while losing body fat. I started out in the fundamentals class to learn the techniques of the workouts and have progressed to the regular classes. While I am still not able to do all of the exercises (pull-ups, etc), there is always a scaled exercise that will help you progress. I am especially grateful to the trainers, Art and Crystal, who push me to keep progressing...whether that is lifting more weight or moving to the next scale! The people that go to the gym are very friendly and actively cheer everyone on during a metcon. If you are new to town, this is a great way to meet people. This gym has all ages, genders, and sexual orientations so everyone is welcome! The monthly membership fee is very reasonable as opposed to other gyms in the area that are $200 and up. It is also much better than paying for 3-4 personal training sessions at LA Fitness. With Crossfit Valitus, you get one on one attention during every workout! read more

I have been going to Crossfit Valitus for almost 7 months now. At first I was pretty intimidated--I'd been pretty sedentary for a few years and had never enjoyed weightlifting. I'm glad I got over my hesitation and gave the fundamentals class a try! The coaching is fantastic, and the membership is supportive while fostering friendly competition. Art and the rest of the coaches are great at ways to scale the exercises for beginners like me while always ensuring they remain very challenging. This is one of the best crossfit gyms I have been to. The trainers are very strict on form and will stop you if you're not doing something right. They know how to push members enough to get them out of their comfort zones. I have been doing crossfit off and on for a couple of years, and bc of the experience of the trainers I am achieving skills I wasn't able to achieve. As a once avid runner, I needed to "up" my training and wanted to try Crossfit. Fast forward 3 years, and I am now better, stronger, and faster runner due to my CF training here at the Dojo. I was always skeptical of the crossfit craze but was looking for something to re-ignite my fitness and bought a 3 month intro membership to crossfit dojo. I am completely hooked - the gym is a real community and the trainers are professional, attentive, engaged, and able to adapt workouts to all levels of fitness and ability.
