Five stars just for the breakfast burritos! I can't get over how good the machaca breakfast burrito was. To where I'm like hoping and praying my husband stops another day on his way home from work to get us more. It had just the right amount of spice for me. It's so addicting. Went here after a good hike to refuel and celebrate the completion of Camelback Echo Trail hike. As we got inside the hostesses were quick to acknowledge us and help us to the bar and get outside seating for this gorgeous day. I had the jalapeño margarita with the tajin rim and my girlfriend had the fuzzy lemonade. Both drinks were as good as always. Ariel always does a great job with service! For lunch we both ordered the Fiesta Nachos. She had the ground beef and I had the grilled chicken. They were both amazing but the portions were huge. We both took some home! We visited a Sunday at around 3pm. The place was super busy but we were sat right away! We chose the seating outside and it was the best decision!! The view was beautiful. I love that we took advantage of the nice weather because during the summer it would be impossible. The menu was very extensive which made it difficult to choose. I decided to try the mango habanero wings grilled. They were good but not spicy at all. My husband ordered a burrito with red sauce rice and beans. It was very good and the burrito was huge! Valle Luna is a huge family friendly Mexican restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and we didn't have to make a reservation in order to get a table. The outdoor seating was very cute and overlooked a big pond. The inside was decorate with colorful flags and wooden structures helped make your table feel more private. I loved a lot of things about this place. The food was served in massive portions yet the prices were affordable. Even before we ordered, they serve fresh chips and salsa, and they gave enough salsa so each person could have their own little dish! It was hard to not fill up on that alone. The trio dip is an absolute must because each dip was great and it was more than enough for four people to share. The spicy bean dip wasn't spicy but it was still good. I got the chile relleno dinner, and it was SO good. The fried batter on the outside was light and they really stuffed it to the brim with cheese. Stopped by Valle Luna for a Friday afternoon meal and it was my best meal this week. I ordered a frozen margarita (ok...I had to order a second ) and pollo asado tacos. This is my first visit in a while because my last stop was only meh. Valle Luna changed my mind this trip. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned. I'm glad I took my waiter Manuel's advice and chose the flour tortillas-they held up perfectly and taste amazing. And the margaritas are consistently good. Manuel is an awesome waiter who anticipates needs and engages in an authentic way with his customers. I will ask for his section the next time I return. When I arrived there was a wait and was a single so it should have been a quick wait. 15 minutes of waiting and they began to seat parties that had come in after me. I told one of the 4 younger ladies working the front and organizing the wait list that I should have been next and that I had 1 person and I was ahead of parties they started to seat. I was told that the reason they seated the other party was because it was a "bigger table"- I told her that is not acceptable and that I had been waiting. I told her that is not acceptable again and I walked out.... I went back in and asked for a manager and spoke to her about the incident. She apologized and offered to find me a table if I would hold on. I appreciate her covering for the young ladies that bypassed me but I was pretty frustrated and decided to not spend my money at their restaurant. In hindsight, I am more angry about it now knowing I was blatantly discriminated against by Valle Luna due to being a solo customer. If I were part of a larger party, I would have been certainly welcomed and seated quicker- proven by the young lady at the time I mentioned I was there before the people they were seating- because I was single, I had to wait. What kind of message does that send? My money is as good as anyone else's.... I guess this is just where we are now-a-days.... All I can do is not patronize such establishments. VERY disappointed with this experience. And the table the party that they skipped past me was not a large table for the record- it seated 4 (was visible from the waiting area). Unless these young ladies at the front were addressed by the manager after I left, this is a big miss on Valle Luna's part. read more

Last night my family treated me to Valle Luna for my 37th birthday. I was craving menudo and that's what I got and it was yummy. Others got taco salad, red shredded beef tamales with beans and rice, rolled tacos, and a burger and fries. I also tried the taco salad and tamales which were also delicious. I came here October 5th 2023 to meet 8 other ladies in a Meetup of age 60 and over social group. The organizer has eaten here many times and she posted Valle Luna to the group for dinner tonight. I have never met the group nor heard of Valle Luna. I ordered my favorite Mexican dish Chile Relleno, because it's something that is too labor-intensive for me to prepare for myself at home. I ordered a la carte and someone else at the table got their chili relleno à la carte first. Hers was very large, thick, and had lots of sauce which was the way I ordered it lots of sauce. Well mine came 5 minutes later and I was dismayed it was much smaller than the other ladies at my table and had hardly any sauce. I was disappointed and told my server I think that lady got my order because it has lots of sauce and that's the way I ordered it. And my server could see plainly that my chile relleno hardly had any sauce and it was much smaller. Nice server. She said "Would you like me to see if the kitchen has a larger one I said absolutely! Thank you! She took it back and maybe 5 minutes later came back with not much larger but it was better and plenty of gravy and cheese. She said this is the biggest that the kitchen had. I accepted it was happy because it had lots of gravy that filled the plate. See picture below. I added additional fresh salsa to my plate and a few chip crumbles and it tasted pretty good. I made dinner out of lots of chips and salsa and ask for extra salsa, the one with the chopped tomatoes in it that was one of the nicest salsas I had in a restaurant. Lots of times, the salsa is nothing but water in a few crushed tomatoes you that don't even have any form. I really like the Valle Luna salsa. The other ladies got pretty substantial meals and everyone but myself and the other chili relleno lady had something to take home, because we ordered a la carte, we ate everything on our plate. I think the food is 3 stars, but the fact that the server initiated getting me a larger chile relleno, AND that this restaurant did not automatically tack on a 20% mandatory tip for our party of over 6 people, I am giving Valle Luna 4 stars. The atmosphere was VERY noisey, so I hardly talked to the ladies I came here to meet, cos when they spoke back, I couldn't hear them, and kept having to have them repeat and repeat. read more

The good: Unfortunately not much to say here. As slammed as the staff was, they were overall pretty attentive. All you can eat chips & salsa? Food was good but service was very lacking. I seated myself in a booth in the bar area. Waited quite a bit for someone to notice I was there and bring me some chips, but no plate or napkins. A server asked my drink order on the fly and another long wait for my iced tea. No menu, no silverware, no napkins. The iced tea was dropped off as the server was on her way to another table...no sugar or sweetener that I needed for my tea. Finally I flagged down another server for a menu, a plate and napkin, and sugar. After some time the server came back for my order. The next problem came at the end of the meal when I received the check....printed at the bottom was a cash price of $18.86, or a credit card price of $19 and some change. I opted for the lower cash price and gave the server a $20 bill, expecting $1.14 in change. I also gave her a $10 bill and asked for a $5 and five $1's in change for a tip. All I got back was the $5 bill and five $1's from the $10 bill.....no change from the $20 bill. So in essence, I paid $20 --- MORE for my meal by paying CASH, than I would have if I would have paid for my meal with a CREDIT CARD! I flagged down the server and asked where was my change from the $20 bill? She returned with $1.00!! When I questioned why not $1.14, she said that they "round up." NO WHERE ON THE MENU OR THE RECEIPT does it warn that they do this. Very deceptive practice, and poor service, and makes me think twice about coming here again. "Thank you for visiting! I have been by this restaurant a million times and finally decided to give this place a try. I know the family has been in the restaurant business for awhile. It took forever to find a parking place. There is a brewery and another restaurant that are in the same shopping center. I entered the restaurant I inquired if they had bar seating, yes they did. I headed to the bar it was packed. The restaurant was pretty busy too. I went back to the hostess station to request a table. I was immediately escorted to the back of the restaurant. I was surprised to see waterside seating. I opted to eat indoors. The humidity was too much for me. Immediately my server Eddie showed up at my table with an introduction and menus. They have two separate menus one for the bar and one for dining. The menu has something for everyone. I would say the menu is definitely more of a Tex-Mex vs traditional Mexican restaurant. I ordered the fajitas with chicken. They came with sides of refried beans & rice along with the usual garnishments of guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheese and your choice of tortillas. The food was ok the Pineapple margarita was overly sweet and there were no flavor traces of tequila. I loved the tables with water views. The bar had a fun vibe. I would come back and try something else to make my final decision. My server Eddie was good, but his follow up was took a little too long. I walked in expecting a long wait, so that has nothing to do with why I am writing this review. I walked up to the hostess stand just to ask what the wait time was and there were 4 ladies leaning against the stand and talking amongst each other. When I walked up none of them could be bothered to even acknowledge there was a person in front of them. One of the young ladies finally acknowledged me, I asked the wait time, and another hostess interrupted her coworker telling me in the worst attitude that it would be 1hr-1 1/2hr wait. The attitude and lack of respect for a customer made me leave instantly and find another restaurant. This place checks all the boxes for me when I'm looking for a night out for some sit down Mexican. To me, Valle Luna is the jack of all trades for Mexican restaurants. It doesn't blow you away in any one area but the sum of all parts makes it a great option for many occasions. Food is solid enough and they have a few stand out dishes, plus the salsa and other sauces are all quite tasty. The patio rocks and ambience in general is always fun. Service is usually pretty good but if can get spotty on occasions, especially if they get pretty busy. Prices are also reasonable, especially for happy hour. My wife had been here recently and had rave reviews so I wanted to try it too. The staff that greet you are very warm and welcoming. It took a while to get a server, but when we asked someone, Hunter, said he would take care of us although it was not his station. This was good news for us because he was a fantastic server. Hunter was very knowledgeable, friendly and offered good suggestions. He came back frequently and always had a smile. Whenever we had a question or ask for anything he responded immediately. I had a burrito that came with rice and beans and salad. I got it with the green sauce. It was delicious. My wife ordered and combo number two enchiladas and she loved them. I personally don't understand the hype. Everyone states "real Mexican food", "so authentic"... I'm Mexican and I'm like "eh, it's ok"... personally I don't understand why I go there other then the cheap beers and margaritas on certain nights. The vibe In the bar is pretty cool and chill. It's always busy in there. However I recently realized why it's so busy in the bar area. It's mostly all employees and friends of employees. Every time we go in there's a ton of employees off the clock getting hammered in there, and they have a jukebox so I was excited to play music. Only to realize they turn it off and plug in their music. So there is no option to play music on the jukebox, we are stuck listening to rap in a Mexican restaurant..... The food situation was horrendous! So I order fajitas since I'm on a diet. East right.... Nope, I get my order up with like 3 small pieces of chicken and 4 small bits of steak. Half of which was all burnt!!! I asked for the manager and explained that paying 18 dollars for this meal was not ok. He did say that there is supposed to be 8oz of meat in the fajitas. He agreed this wasn't made correctly and said he would fix it and rolls out with the plate. He came back 15 min later with a sizzling platter that looked a lot better. Dude didn't say a word, he dropped. He dropped my plate off, took my empty bottle of corona and just jammed out. I'm like sure I'll have another beer, as I talked to no one. He never came back to apologize, or ask how it was going or if it's good nothing. It's probably a good thing cause they were so bland!!! Literally no seasoning. At this point I was hungry so I just dealt with it. I then got my receipt after my card was charged and see it was charged for a extra order of fajitas. Apparently the manager put in another order and forgot to remove it... great attention to details. I did take a picture of the fajita handle. It's absolutely gross and wondered if they even gave a crap. That's so gross! My experience was terrible, overcharged, bland food, burnt food, and a manager that really didn't care.
